The trail is along the water so that was a nice view. I went on a more hot day so that made it a little less enjoyable considering there is not much shade. When you reach the mining area where the benches are at there is a sign that shows a list of trails however as you keep hiking, they do not add signs when the trail splits off so you do not know what trail you will be on. Once I reached the cave, I turned around and headed back. Unfortunately, the cave is closed off which was a bummer. It would have been really cool to go inside. It would have been a full 5 stars if the trail was better marked. I am not sure if I would go back.

My favorite trial in auburn. Giant dog tree about halfway, by the mine puts out delicious Greek dogs during the summer! Streams, waterfalls, the river, mines, the beach. Love it.. dog friendly too!

Great trail to run on and access so many other trails in the area! Rock climbing area access as well. Pretty busy most times, especially on the weekend. Get there early on the weekends to secure a parking spot. Paid parking, make sure to use the self pay envelopes (or display your Poppy Pass). You can park a little ways down or up 49 for free. Enjoy the trails!

Do not bother or waste driving to these areas. All off road parking, access and parking lots, are blocked off and rangers are waiting in trucks at the bridge off 49 and 193 to give citations. Bike Trails and hiking is completely discouraged and trails are abandoned.

Great place for some rock climbing. The trail to the quarry is about 30 minutes flat walk.Really great routes on Scale wall, memorial wall and horseshoe canyon. The trail is in incredibly well maintained and had restrooms on the way. Theres also a porta john at the quarry. Make sure to bring enough water, temps can get really high in the summer/fall.

Love to run on this trail!! Its my favorite place to run in the Sacramento area. Can get anywhere from 11 miles to about 22! Beautiful foliage and even in hot summer days most of the trail is cool and shaded.

Great trails for running, hiking or riding. It starts as a gravel road and becomes single track after 3 or 4 miles. There are several options for those looking for distances beyond 12-13.

Easy hike. The cave is completely blocked off now. Hiking up to where the climbers go is with the effort.

Parking in the lot is $10, exact change only. On a hot day, its refreshing to stand by the entrance of the mine and feel the cold air. Its hard to get to the river from the trail, even though they have life jackets available at the trail head. Lots of poison oak. One porta potty at the trail head and another on the trail. of the parking area . The trail is wide enough for cars (not allowed) and open to hikers, cyclists and horses.

The trail is pretty flat well groomed trail. Easy walking or running trail. Several small streams cross the trail. Parallels a river and the surrounding plant life makes for a nice hike.

This is a very nice, easy scenic hike. Did 3.5 miles total..only complaint..dog owners who do not pick up their pets waste. Lots of it there. Not wild animal...

First time going at this trail, it was very easy. I came here looking for the rocks on the photos but couldnt find it. I wasnt sure what route to take so I kept on going straight on the trail. Ill come a second time around looking for it the next time Im in the city. But would love some information on where to find it, hopefully I can soon.
