Great hiking trails in & around the falls. The trails are single lane & designed for mountain biking. Wear water proof boots. The soil is red clay, slippery & very wet. We had a great time.

Nice rustic campground with many full hook up sites, with cable.Had a problem with black ants on one site, on our last trip, but was fine this timeRestrooms are kept clean. 2 washers & dryers (I think$1.50 each). Has a free little library for book exchange. Hike to the waterfall is a bit steep, and needs better trail marking. Lots of mountain bike trails/courses.

A friend and I wanted to go hiking today, so we decided to check out this state park. We soon realized at the start of our hike, the trails were poorly marked and the map was just as confusing. There were no numbers or colors to guide you on any of the trails, which made it harder to navigate when you got to any intersection. We had to backtrack a few times, since some of the trials were not kept up. I am not sure why are 37 different trails, for a place that is not large in size. I suppose most who visit, want to see the man made waterfall as it is the focal point of the park.We left the waterfall to head back to our car in a designated area that was clearly for parking. However, we could not locate the parking lot because the lot was not marked on the map. It showed the pavilion icon instead of the P for parking.Overall, we had a nice time being out in nature and it is a great place for families to come. A few suggestions though ; make the map easier to read, have the trails marked better and just add some extra trash cans in this state park. We only saw 1 the whole time and that was near the only bathroom (which was very clean) we could find near the RV parking lot. This state park has a lot of potential just needs some care.

Nice little campground with full hookups. The best part is the access to the many miles of fantastic bike trails ranging from kid-friendly easy trails to expert trails with jumps, ramps, banks, etc so there truly is something for everyone. Theres a small BMX area with a simple oval course, 4 styles of ramps, and several skinnies to work on jumping and balance skills. Theres also an area called big dirt jumps which does indeed have some big jumps but also a smaller track for younger/less experienced riders to get a feel for it. My kids (5 and 7) loved the easy green camp trail and messing around on the dirt jumps and BMX track. Theres a nice lake with a swimming area, though Its mucky on the bottom, not sandy like some people would expect from a designated swimming area. It didnt bother us though. Theres a huge concrete platform in the lake too that has a diving board 8-10 ft off the water which my daredevil kids found thrilling! There are tons of hiking trails too but we didnt explore those much since we spent all of our time riding and swimming. Well definitely be back!!

So many cool trails if you have time to explore them all. Entrance is $4 an adult and there is lots of parking. Great for mountain biking or hiking and it is dog friendly! If I were to go back, I would definitely bring a swimsuit to swim near the waterfall. Lots of families were out playing in the water and it looked so fun. Also by the entrance is a great swimming area and diving board!

Love the park, we hiked both days we were there and it was lovely and well maintained. I will have to go back with my kids and their bikes next time. Lots of obstacles specifically set up for mountain bikes. We went in October on what should have been an Auburn home football game weekend but was changed because of COVID-19. So it was crowded but not overly so. We still had some privacy on more out of the way trails. We stayed in the RV park with our camper trailer and the sites were good, the restrooms left a little to be desired but the sites were clean with an average amount of room.

Now this is a hidden gym of Alabama state parks. I am from Florida and travel all over the US and varied countries. This campground has a bit of it all for all families. The bike trails, the campground, cabins, walking oaths, diving boards, swimming and waterfalls. We explored quite a bit and will be back to camp and explore more. Be prepared if youre going to swim, you must be ready the water isnt clear. If youre okay with dark water itll be good for you in regards to swimming. The only improvement would be to the bathrooms, they do need help.

Beautiful park. Its a shame that some of the staff are so sour. I asked a man over the phone if I would be able to get out of the park past 5pm and the question obviously hit a nerve. He never answered my question, just told me in an angry tone that the park closes at 5pm. Sounds like he could use some time off to mend his soul.

Once you arrive youll notice a lot of mountain bike trails with jumps and bridges. If you hike down to the waterfall its a fairly steep drop down so take good shoes, water bottles, and if you arent typically sure footed you may find a walking stick helpful.Theres a good amount of wildlife so keep your eyes open. From tiny frogs, to large spiders and even a beautiful doe grazing 30 feet from the roadway. Take your phone or camera and enjoy the day.

If doing the waterfall wear a bathing suit and teva/Chaco type shoes with back strap for climbing rocks. Bring at least two bottles of water person. One to carry to waterfall and one left in car for trip back up (we went on an 88 degree day.) fun for dogs to swim. Nice rocks to lay out on. We were here at Christmas, so literally had the place to ourselves. (There was 1 other couple in the cabin next to us - but as they were traveling with us, doesn’t really count!). The cabins were clean, but quite basically furnished (as in, bring your camp chairs, perhaps an extra pot or two, and plates, silverware, etc). The view of the lake was quite nice, as was the deck, which not all cabins have, so enquire when you book! They all have a covered picnic table, grill, and fire ring. If you leave the park, there are lots of places in close proximity to eat and shop - in all price ranges. And it IS easy to leave / no long back wood trek in and out. We would def return if in the area again.

Great state park to go hiking to waterfalls, can rent boats, canoes, kayaks, creeks to walk through, fishing, mountain biking and biking ramps and paths and trick ramps that are being built and may be done by now. Areas to cook out. A smal playground. Picnic tables and grills, also pavilions and some i think have to be rented. They also have cabins that can be rented by the lake. Also a swimming area with a diving board. Great park to go to! They also have a general store/bait store near the RV and camp ground. A fee has to be paid at the gate but they also take cards and cash.
