While this isnt the largest museum in the world its still a super cool spot. Featuring a revolving number of exhibitions its in a constant state of change and always worth popping in to see whats up! From 3D printing to Electric Guitar design (REALLY awesome exhibit BTW) Ive seen so much cool stuff there I always leave inspired and then theres the super cool gift shop that features design inspired gifts from makers and books on design. Its might not be as big as The HIgh across the street but this great space packs an inspiring punch.

Small and quality of visit is entirely dependent on the particular exhibit at the time. Due to its small size, certainly can not complete or be compared with noteworthy design museums. Check the website before visiting. $10 admission, $5, both of which are high compared to what you see. Allot 10 to 15 minutes to see everything.

Ive lived in Atlanta for a while but didnt actually explore the museum of design until last week, and it was so worth it. its a $5 entry fee but they have rotating exhibits that are always about something new and interesting! when I visited the espresso history exhibit was on display, and they had quite an extensive collection :)

It is OK if you happen to be near by, used the metro and maybe during their weekly tour. They dont have a permanent display and only one single exhibit with posters. You will not see what is shown on line, these are from previous exhibits. Last choice compared to other museums i visited in the area such as the Fed museum for instance that is free and It was much better, very educational with nice displays.

An excellent opportunity to experience design as art and all that it entails. Incredibly friendly staff members are often directly involved with installing exhibits so they are always up for a conversation and are more than willing to answer questions! With wonderful outreach programs for both adults and kids, this family friendly museum is an exquisite asset to the downtown Atlanta area and will be for many years to come.

Im sorry, but this place just wasnt good. First off, its really small... like a hallway and one room. On top of that, it was overly political. Like every single piece was overtly political. By far the best part was the funky chairs! They were a blast! Luckily it was cheap!

This was my second visit. MODA does a really nice job of balancing curated activities and exhibits. I felt that the current offering - the design of dissent - was particularly impactful though not at all balanced or put into context. Not that it needed to be but it could have been a nice second layer. It is a great museum to take children to or any adult who is open to letting out their creative side.

Lovely museum with two primary exhibits really and an interesting gift store. Currently there is a tribute to espresso machines that are lovely examples of form and function. Also, there is an interactive work focused upon the stories of all of us. Brilliant. Maybe a bit much to pay if you arent into whatever is currently going on, but if you have kids ask about the membership option for them. Free for kids, and they bring an adult in free. Information was not volunteered--we had to ask.

Such a disappointing experience. There is no design work in the museum. And guess what when we asked where is the ”design” they told us: ”oh, Museum is a broad term!” false advertising is also a broad term! Very funny that the museum that currently exhibits pieces on human rights and justice is actually a perpetrator of extortion themselves, charging for entrance for works of ”design” that are definitely important but anything but what was advertised!

Visited on a Free Family Sunday and am glad we did as I was underwhelmed by the exhibit. Couched as an engineering and music exhibit, there were only 3 interactive displays that all of the people (mainly kids) crowded around in 3 medium-sized rooms on a single floor. Im not sure if theres a 2nd floor and/or if it has exhibits during a regular viewing day (admission fee).On the bright side, my 8-yr was amazed at the typewriter, but so were all the other kids and there wasnt any time limits imposed on playing with them.If you took away the add-on engineering exhibits, you could probably walk around, read every word on the walls and see the handful of building models in under an hour. All in all, Id say this is really a good place if youre either in the industry or really into design/architecture, and/or if youd like to get a book on the subject.

The people who work there are knowledgeable and courteous and fun to be around. The place is gorgeous, too - check out the bathrooms... seriously. Even the bathrooms reflect the love for design. No parking on site, but street parking is easy to find and is very cheap - just download the ParkMobile app and youll be fine.

Massively disappointing trip to the MODA. Luckily my husband and I are both students and got our tickets at the student rate (which is believe was $4-5 a ticket) and the parking we found nearby was a flat rate of $10. So, the entire trip wasn’t overly pricey, but the museum itself was dissatisfying. The building is large, the museum is tiny. It’s a gift shop, a hallway, and one room. From my understanding they offer classes and small events for the community to come in and create and I think that is awesome. However, if it’s a museum I feel like it should be more than a single room. This is more of a creative center with a gallery room. The exhibit currently is labeled as ‘graphic design,’ but it seemed more politically charged than graphically charged. I love graphic design and was ready to have my mind blown and honestly, it was beyond lack luster. I’ve been to the HIGH on numerous occasions for school trips and just random days of fun and was so confused as to why I’d never known MODA existed. I’ll assume it’s because it’s hard to make a trip out of ten pieces of work.

My family really enjoyed our time at this fascinating small Museum! Its just one floor, with one exhibit. But that exhibit packs a punch! When we were there, the theme was Playful Cities, and took in many different cities initiatives to create spaces for the public to have fun in creative ways. We will definitely return on our next visit to Atlanta! One big plus is that they honored reciprocal membership we have with a museum in our hometown.

A small nice well laid out one floor museum. The present exhibition is Wire and Wood running until September 2019 which is about guitars. It is informative and interactive with Spotify play list to songs played with each particular guitar type which I find innovative and interesting. It has a $10 admission fee an interesting shop with a range of classic design books, architecture models to birthday cards. You would spend between 30mins to an hour here. Opposite this museum is the Woodruff Arts center containing the High museum of Art

Fun museum with lots of hands-on experiences. They also have classes for 3-D printing, which is awesome. It isnt particularly big, but the videos and descriptions and thorough without being boring, and they have plenty of different themes and objects within each theme. They also have knowledgeable staff who will answer any questions you have. Great place for your inner inventor to go wild with imagination! I would not recommend this museum for small children (pre-k and below), but it could be fun for lightly older children.

As I approached I saw four Eames shell chairs in the window and knew I was in the right place. I went in to take a closer look and discovered they were knockoffs. Its simply shameful that this place would call themselves a museum of design and not get authentic Herman Miller Eames chairs. Was this intentional or simply misguided? To participate in the knockoff market cheapens the value that Herman Miller and Charles and Ray Eames added to all of our lives and illustrates the ignorance that most people have about modern design. Im shocked it would happen in this context.

The concept is cute. It focuses on one exhibit at a time in a modern place. The venue used to be a parking deck. However, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. I get what they were going for by having the exhibit in an intimate environment which allows it to distinguish itself from its counterparts. However, I left there wanting just a tad bit more. Which can be a good and a bad thing. Nevertheless, Ill be back in a month to check out there new exhibit :-)
