Fun! Perfect for kids up to age 5 I would say. My 1 year old and 4 year old has a blast! Great gift store too, and very nice staff.

Went here with my 3 year old. Even though this place is small it is hours of fun for little ones at a reasonable price. They have plans to expand and are just waiting for space to open in the building. Staff is super friendly bathrooms are clean. Please swing by and support these guys.

Its small, and a lot of the best stuff is closed for COVID, but they are doing the best they can with the small space. We had a 2 year old who had a blast. There was a science lab that would be great, but our little one wasnt ready for it.I really enjoyed the mineral section, but that probably wouldnt interest most kids.

We visited on a weekday so it wasnt crowded. Because its downtown its not a large place. Themed for children, in my belief, up to say 10 years old. You can keep the kids busy for about an hour there.

Hands on learning experiences for all ages, my 20 month old, 7yr old and 9 yr old children all enjoyed it! The STEM project room was great, the scavenger hunts were awesome, the gift shop itself was a gem! The kids could have spent the whole day there! The staff were very engaging and great with the kids!

Its really small and dont have alot to offer for the price of admission. Its still alright though. They have a pretty cool gift shop. But its mainly just rocks and one dinosaur structure.

A small place with not much to see. They have gem displays, a dinosaur skeleton, a hurricane simulator and a few other exhibits. My kids had fun and admission isnt expensive, but you really could get 8n and out of here in 20 minutes.

Went with my g.f and was expecting to enjoy it since I love anything science related. Unfortunately they only have 2 sections you can go to, and entry fee is $8. I was pretty let down and we didnt stay long.

Some interesting exhibits but much smaller than what I expected.

This place is super awesome!!! I wish more people could put their phones down and get off social media for once and get out and have some fun at places like this! The gift shop is awesome and has all sorts of gadgets and projects. A lot of collectibles to look at and fun activities to do for not only kids but for adults too! Highly recommend this place for partys or just want to go do something interesting!!!!

Small science museum, but fun for little kids. The interactive surround screen space satellite and birds nest tree house playset were the most fun for the kids. The dinosaur and mineral exhibits are interesting as well.

This is such a cute little childrens museum! It is definitely one of the smaller childrens museums that we have been to, but the price of admission reflects that. I do believe that they are in the process of adding some stuff to it. Even though it is small it is very well done. And it has some exhibits that are geared toward older kids, so if you have children that are a wide variety of ages, this is a place that you can take all them. They have an indoor playground too that the kids enjoyed playing on. Overall, this isnt somewhere that we would visit frequently, but it was worth it the one time we did go.

Small, but packed with stuff. Mostly geared towards small children, though the mineral gallery is quite impressive, considering how small the place is.

The science museum is a great place for my 4 year old! I agree it’s small but they are constantly improving the space and looking to expand more.We can easily spend at least at hour there and by the end, my son is worn out! The “tree fort” play space is one of the best indoor play spaces in Asheville. It’s great for a rainy day.The staff is super helpful and friendly. And they have a really wonderful gift shop. Lots of great gifts for kids of all ages.

A great educational experience. Great gift shop prices with 10% for teachers. As a homeschool mom thus was a tremendous blessing . Kids had a blast !

Centrally located museum in downtown Asheville. GREAT for kids. We stopped in while meandering downtown after lunch one day and had a great time. Fantastic gift shop with lovely crystals. Bought a bunch for myself and as gifts. Not much parking, the nearest deck is your best bet.Plan to spend an hour or so here after lunch nearby.

Its a small place but they have some good stuff (like the minerals and a super cool solar system exhibit) and the staff are super nice and helpful!

Expensive.. $8 per person to go into only 2 rooms of science. Not worth it.

This was a great museum if you have kids under the age of 10. They have lots of activities to keep them entertained and to educate them on lots of different facts. The museum is small but they are trying to expand to reach more people and a greater age range. They are also able to host events and it makes for a unique events space.

Came in here with my girlfriend and we had an absolute blast. We did a rocks and mineral scavenger hunt, watched each others hair get blown around in the hurricane simulator, and I played with lots of curious little ones. The two ladies at the front desk were super friendly and helpful. Child or Adult, with a group or alone, plenty of good times to be had here.

I came in out of curiousity, and was certainly not disappointed! I love the simple and very detailed approach for design. The ladies are very helpful and kind. They welcomed me in and made me feel at home. Thank you for a valuable experience!

Kids loved it so it definitely serves its purpose of being a fun, entertaining way to learn about science. The fact that the tree house is strong enough for an adult is actually pretty clever and convenient so children can play, plus learn with their parents or guardians.I think the staff needs to do a better job of maintaining the accessories or toys though so the guests can actually enjoy all the activities to the fullest. I do love places like these though.. Keeps kids away from computers, games and social media which is much needed.

This is turning into a great little museum. I cant wait until it is finished. My 8 & 10 year old had a great time. Right now it is geared a bit more towards the 8 and younger. But it is still under construction.

Great science museum, large rock collection and other exhibits. Mainly based towards children. Great place to bring them to.

I went with my daughters school here on a field trip so I am glad I didnt have to pay full admission price for myself (her $ was 10 & my $ was 5) or I would have been disappointed for the cost. There is 3 rooms, 2 small rooms and 1 medium sized room. 1 room has rocks and gems nicely displayed and activity sheets to do to better educate while observing. The other small room was a science experiment room that I dont know is for planned trips only or if they do something for every visitor. The biggest room has books around and is the play area. There is a small playground PLEASE USE CAUTION HERE!! 4 out of 16 CHILDREN BUMPED THEIR HEADS TO THE POINT OF CRYING. There is a padded block building area, a dinosaur fossil area where they can brush sand, a displayed dinosaur, a drawing area, another more complex block area, a station with sand that shows sea level and mountain range heights (the coolest hands on activity they have in several opinions) a hurricane air contraption (commonly seen at malls and yes you have to pay a couple bucks for it too and its half the time the mall gives) and one more station. It seems that Listed a lot but honestly unless your kids will play on a station over a few minutes, you would be done in 30 minutes. A good fair admission price would be $2-$3. Over that is not worth it.

Wonderful option for the whole Family in this area. Asheville is booming but with many of the same types of things over and over, this is a great escape for kids and adults alike . They also often have unique events that can appear to many different age groups. They may be small but mighty in heart, and great things do come in small packages :)

Great for the children. My only negative is very limited seating for adults there while the children are playing etc. For a 80+ grandmother needs a seat whe spending 2hrs. there and the young ones not just playing but also learning.

My kids loved it. The website made it seem bigger then it was. But overall we had a great time.

This is a small but nicely run museum.(Edit: 3 stars is a positive review. It means a place is good. 4 stars = great and 5 stars = basically perfect (this is rare). In short, if you are nearby this is a good place to visit.)

We were only stopping on Asheville for the day and wanted to find something our young daughter would like in between brewery stops. The museum itself has a very small footprint, but manages to pack a lot of experiences into that space. The price was very reasonable. The employee at the desk was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made sure we didnt miss a thing. Our 3 year old loved climbing around the tree house and exploring the other exhibits. Really nice gift shop too.

Great for people of all ages. Wonderful for children, as expected, but also for adults!

Disappointing. Good for an hour or so on a rainy day but it is not very big - only two rooms - and the admission price is too high for as little as there is to do. Also, I would not recommend for older children; max. age in my opinion would be 8-9.

Great place to visit

Super cute place with great staff working kids programs. Little small yet, but they are growing. Our favorite by far was the topographic sand table. Mesmerizing. The different stations kept my 3 year old hoping and happy. Hope the prices stay low and reasonable. Looking forward to this places full potential!

(3&6)My two children and I really enjoyed our visit to Asheville Museum of Science. We attended the Saturday morning activities, participated in a scavenger hunt, looked at all the fossils and other interesting items, survived the hurricane tunnel, and tinkered with all the other great hands on stations. All the staff was patient, polite, and accommodating with my kids and thats not always an easy task, so 2 thumbs up to the staff. If your looking for a cool, educational, informational and hands on place to spend a little time with your kids this is the place. We will definitely be returning!

Hesitate to rate it a 3 because its a pleasant, friendly, clean play and learning area. However, it is not a really a science museum. The expectation that it is, lessens appreciation for what it really is: small, mostly interactive play and learning exhibit.

This museum is amazing! Even for their soft opening there were so many pluses! Lots of exhibits and great hands-on activities for people of all ages!

It isnt as great as I would hope it would have been after being renovated. Its very small and has a few core things that were cool. Like the water table and the playhouse. Just doesnt seem to keep the attention of kids for very long.

My daughter had fun, but its simply to small to justify the price. Adults having to pay stinks when its geared towards children.

Great little museum! Geared toward youth but they do have a fantastic mineral/gemstone display! The woman who greeted and helped us was very enthusiastic and sweet :)

Great play area for toddlers and kids, with some good educational exhibits for slightly older kids. Tree house with slide, fossil excavation under sand, a water table, squishy pit for toddlers. My 5 year old came for a STEM activity, ended up staying all morning, and coming back for 3 hours in the afternoon. We had to drag him away when they closed. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

Very small at the moment. What they have is nice. Just consider the entry fee a donation to future expansion. And I will never understand why childrens museums charge adults...

It was a blast for,my 3 year old, 9 year old found it interesting but lost interest pretty fast. Amazing to hear they will be expanding into the wells fargo building!

As others have said, it is small, but there is a decent amount of activities. Took a group of 5 plus a baby for $40, not too bad.

I was expecting more. This place is only floor with 4 rooms, 1 being the gift shop.With that being said my boys; 12, 10, and 6 had a lot of FUN. They made crafts, played, and created. One of the rooms was about geode/minerals/rare stones which was cool, especially since my 10yo is really into them.I also wish they charged adults less.

It is a nice sience museum with lots of hands on exhibits. It is a little small but they are growing and what they have is really nice.

Having been to the science center in a few different cities I am honestly very disappointed. This science center looked more like a small activity center with no real value other than the bathroom. It was two small rooms with some gems and rocks and some overly cheap and basic exhibits. Compare to some that have been 3 stories full of exhibit, this experience was not worth more than $4 for us and yet we walked out of that places $24 down and no better for it.

This little museum is great! Its the perfect place to get your brain on for little ones. Just enough information to get them interested but not overwhelmed. I loved the scavenger hunt they provide for learning, disguised as fun. They had easy ones for really little ones and more in depth for older kids. They can use their imagination and again learn engineering under the guise of fun by building a hand made boat and sending it down the river While we were there, they had a presentation from a real astronaut on space debris. Which we think would have been pretty cool, but we got there after it started and going in would have meant we would have to walk right in front of everyone including the speaker and that felt way to rude for us. So if they could rearrange the room for such things that would probably be better. They have a small climbing area as well. Over all its a great place to get them interested and sharpen some skills and grab a bit more knowledge. NICK the guy that greeted was awesome too. His enthusiasm for science was electric and kids do take notice, so thank you Nick! We were happy we went. And spent about an hour.

Great place for young kids to learn and play

I visited this museum in the first few weeks of its opening (my review is a bit late) it was interesting. I give it a three because the museum was very small in size and displays were minimal. I hope they have grown and will visit the next time Im in Asheville.

For a toddler & ages 6+ this is a fun place they get to play with water and have other small activities to do like color or go down the slide. And have a small area where they can play with soft blocks. I liked it but wish it was bigger and that it had more activities.

Its an ok place to spend 15 to 30 minutes letting your kids going crazy.Parents here do not choose to gain control of their children.Instead they are bouncing off the walls like sugar gliders.Only a handful of cool exhibits here.They definitely need more....Very small space as well...Total museum may be 5,000 square feet.

We started a homeschool class series AMOS is hosting and they did an excellent job! My daughter absolutely loved it and always enjoys the museum exhibits. The staff is always so friendly and informative!

Very fun and friendly environment. The space is small now but the quality of content and exhibits are top notch. The staff and owners are passionate and intelligent. Its definitely worth checking out if youre in the area. Admission is cheap. Help them grow because they are doing it right!

We have visited this multiple times with kids (ages 5 and 7) and they always have a blast. Theres a surprising amount to see and do in such a small space. I cant give it 5 stars because it is overpriced based on the size.

Should be called a childrens science museum and overpriced for the limited amount of activites. Also there was an outlet in the toddler play area without a cover. I asked for a cover up front which they gave me but still the outlet should be removed or covered with something better than the flimsy cheap plugs. My daughter had fun but since she is a toddler pretty much any activity is fun for her so thats not saying much.

Not a big museum, but very interesting for both kids and adults and very versatile. You have an indoor playhouse for the more energetic ones and a lot of hands-on science experiments for the learning moments. My daughters both (2,6) liked the place a lot.My personal favorite was their minerals section that showcases all kinds of rocks and minerals and also displays the toxic ones.

This was an awful experience. Anyone over the age of 6 will probably not enjoy. There is nothing to see with only two rooms one of which just full of rocks. Really boring.

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and the prices are great. Bring in your little archeologist or geologist and watch them have a blast. Great for all ages.

We really enjoyed our visit. The lady at the front desk was very knowledgeable, helpful and sweet. It’s small right now but will be growing and we can’t wait to see the additions. We spent plenty of time considering what was available to explore. My kids are 12, 5 & 3 and they had the best time!

Really only has 2 areas, one about gemstones and minerals, and another that is just a playground for young children. Dont expect to sharpen your kids intellect here. But, if you want an education themed playground for a moderate fee, they got ya.

Two rooms despite the pics. A small room with a small jungle gym and small sand related interactions. The only other room is displays of rocks. Not a “kids science museum” as you would find in other cities. Nice, but underwhelming.

A wonderful place to take your children for fun that is educational. Perfect for rainy weekends or cold winter days. Our family enjoyed the hands on exhibits and my youngest daughter had a blast playing in the indoor play area. Fun for children of all ages and adults too!

What a great place for the kids

This place is SMALL but some really fun things. Our kids enjoyed identifying gems and minerals, and playing on the water table.

Too small only two rooms and overpriced for exhibits. I saw no staff on the floor to interact with and the play areas were littered with empty cups and diaper wipes. The color pages were not stocked and there just weren’t enough interactive attractions for the price. Hopefully the museum will expand in the future.

Has improved since opening but adults should not be charged at all! Or entrance fee should be lowered since everyone has to purchase a ticket. If I were clueless and went in without children I would sincerely demand a refund. Staff is super nice though!
