I went to Mans Ruin yesterday to get my rook pierced. I had never gotten a professional piercing before, and Jenn made the experience wonderful from start to end! She does a great job of putting you at ease and talks to you like a friend. They have a lovely selection of beautiful handcrafted jewelry. I loved that she thoroughly explained the jewelry and took the time to help me choose which size would fit best in my ear. Jenn is extremely quick and professional in her work, the actual piercing took her only SECONDS and was practically painless!I will most certainly be back for all future piercings :)Thank you!!P.S. First off, I can’t recommend this place enough and say how great they are. Heather does an amazing job tattooing and pays such an attention to details (you can really tell she takes pride in her art form), not to mention she provides very clear and concise aftercare instructions. As for piercings, Jen is awesome at it and is just as clear as Heather when it comes to aftercare and is upfront with what to expect (also made me laugh before and after to help with the nerves that comes with any sort o body modification for me).Overall, definitely check them out!!!

There is no other shop to even consider. Heather Ruin has done 3 of my tattoos and Jenn Sumo has done 4 of my piercings. As a healthcare professional, I am so impressed with the level of sanitary practices and use of personal protection equipment (PPE) that is practiced here. I could go into further detail but it would get really boring, so just trust me that they go above and beyond to protect you and themselves.They both have great knowledge in their fields. Jenn has helped me pick out the right jewelry each time because I have allergies to certain materials. She has helped me almost end a lifelong battle with migraines with my Daith piercing. And, for people who doubt this, my Neurologist is the one who introduced the idea and wrote a prescription for me to get it (Insurance wont cover it. But my job needed documentation that it was medically necessary.) If you have migraines, please call Jenn! She is so knowledgeable about this.And, as for the talented Heather Ruin, there is no one elses art that I want on me. She is so brilliantly artistic that it is insane. I was referred by a good friend (tattoos and piercings by Man’sRuin) for a special piercing celebration with my daughter. Jenn was so accommodating and knowledgeable. And despite COVID, this facility, and BOTH Jenn and Heather were so prepared, ready, and amazing (and clean) ! My daughter and I got nose piercings to commentate her birthday, and I also went ahead and got a Daith Piercing for migraines. Let me share, our nose piercings were awesome!!! Jenn was a rockstar with my daughters anxiety. She talked her through like a champ!And, as an epic side note, my daith piercing has literally ceased my need to take migraine meds in a daily basis. Daily! I’m ultimately migraine reduced, date I say free. In that, I’m not taking my twice daily migraine meds anymore. I cannot put into words what it’s like to stop taking meds that I have taken for years! Let alone the cost.Thanks Man’s Ruin. This place is legit, socially aware, and thorough!Do. Not. Hesitate.

Awesome experience! Having never gotten a tattoo before, I was a bit nervous, but Heather took her time explaining the process, and drawing exactly what I wanted. It was amazingly not painful (my friend had told me that Heather has a light hand), and I have a beautiful tattoo as a result. I cant stop looking at it! I was given great aftercare instructions, and feel that both Heather and Jenn were very supportive and professional. Its a safe, clean, drug-free environment.

Highly recommend! I’ve had my nose, daith, and cartilage pierced here by Jenn, and she is absolutely the best! Kind, funny, and extremely clean throughout the whole process. She walks you through everything.Maybe a little more expensive than some other places, but you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for piercings at this point.

Got a conch piercing by Jenn back in February. I was super nervous and she made me feel as comfortable as can be. She made sure the piercing was exactly where I wanted it and the piercing itself was quick and relatively painless. Clean and sterile establishment and a lively atmosphere. Jenn and Heather both have great senses of humor and made the entire experience one to remember!

Just got my nips pierced and it was SUCH a good experience. This place is so professional but still cool. I would definitely recommend it! The all women staff put me so at ease, and I was SO anxious at the outset. I dont know much about piercings which usually makes me feel like a poser, but everyone here was so kind! They really break the stereotype that tattoo artists are rude. So great!

We were so lucky to find Mans Ruin while staying in Black Mountain! They were very accommodating for a day-of request for three of us. SUPER CLEAN SHOP!My wife and I went to mans ruin years ago for an intimate tattoo for each of us and after many years they still look great! So we decided to get another today. She gauged my septum (just a touch) and I had a tight (second) ring piercing done within the last month. Everythings healed. Their shop itself is really neat too - huge selection of jewelry and the coolest stained glass pieces Ive seen. Heather is a/the tattoo artist there and creates these amazing pieces herself. Heather was absolutely incredible! Got my second tattoo here a little over a month ago and could not be happier. I am still amazed at the incredible amount of detail that Heather was able to include for the size of the tattoo. Not only was the tattoo itself wonderful and showcased incredible talent but the care she took in trying to make me as comfortable as possible is what makes Mans Ruin so special. Getting your ribs tattooed hurts, a lot, but Heather went out of her way to make it the least painful as possible and never made me feel bad about needing a minute breather.

Took our daughter who just turned 9 and got 14 K rose gold earrings for her Birthday! Jenn was amazing! So supportive and professional!

Im blown away. It was just an awesome experience. I went for my PA, for my first ever piercing. Yea, really talk about diving in head first. The staff made me feel incredibly comfortable though. They are very nice people, the piercing flew by and the work is really great. There was very little pain and everything was very clean. 10/10 I would definitely do it again without a doubt.

Im visiting Ashville, to reconnect with myself and decided why not get my nose repierced, so I went to Google. Mans Ruin had stellar reviews and I see why. The atmosphere is great and the vibes were good. Jenna was so amazing and very relaxed, we talked and she did her best to make me feel comfortable and at home. Shes also very funny and a dog lover which is an A plus in my book. She walked me through everything she was going to do, and what to expect. I was nervous because I had never gone to a ligit parlor. It was short and sweet and almost no pain, she then informed me on how to care for my nose. When I tell you this place is the ish, it really is. If I become brave enough to get a septum piercing, I will go back to Mans Ruin, I live in Sout Carolina by the way. These ladies know what theyre doing. The money you spend will be well worth it. Ive been to shops that would barely talk to me, let alone make me feel comfortable. Also the shop is very clean and put together, Jenna is very organized and thorough, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been going here for a very long time because of my parents. I’ve gotten three nose piercings and my first tattoo here. I wouldn’t even think of going anywhere else. These women keep you entertained while maintaining professionalism. They’ve been voted best in WNC for many years now and it’s no mystery why. You get what you pay for and it’s nowhere near a disappointment. The most sterile and friendly parlor I’ve ever walked into.

This review is a bit late in the making but no less important. Over this most recent forth of July weekend, I made an hour-long trip with my best friend to Mans Ruin. I was getting my nipples pierced and Jenn was both friendly and knowledgeable. They were my first piercings and I was admittedly a little nervous but I was in good hands. She talked me through everything I needed to know about the piercing process as well as aftercare step by step. The piercing itself was quick, professional, sterile, and as painless as I imagine sliding a needle through your nips could ever hope to be.Its been a few months since and, having followed her instructions, my piercings are doing great with no problems or concerns. Im very happy with them and considering making repeat trips for septum and belly button piercings in the future. Having had such a painless experience once, Ill definitely personally be returning to Mans Ruin for future piercings and tattoos.

It appears to me that there was much thought put into the shops name. Who really gives a crap what the name is anyway...as long as the people in it are awesome and do good work. I was doing research on a place to take my mom to get her first tattoo, and Mans Ruin came in to our orbit. After plenty of inquiry and review-reading, I was sure this would be the right fit for her. Now, my mom is not necessarily a likely customer, and Jenn & Heather were friendly, easy-going, and SO accommodating from the moment we walked in the door. Heather was expert and professional in her approach and advice on the design. This studio is singular in many ways, and I plan on highly recommending it to anyone who needs a quality tattoo done in the Asheville area.

I got a tattoo which is about 3 inches by 3 inches for $200! (The price would not have bothered me if it was done well) It took them less than a half hour to do it. It was a simple black tattoo, but I still need to get it touched up (it was not fully colored in). Also I felt the employees were pushy and stuck up. It was my first tattoo and only since I have been weary to go back to any shop, since my first experience was far from what I expected. At least my tattoo is on my back so I dont have to look at it all the time. Not only that they told me they could not do the simple design any smaller. Not sure why, but any good artist should be able to do what the client expects. Not be told they have no idea what they are talking about. Not sure if I just had a bad experience or if this is the way it always is. Just remember when you are tattooing someone .... this is on their body for life. Thanks for nothing.

For years I have been thinking of getting a very personal tattoo to help me remember an emotional time in my life. After meeting with Heather and describing my wishes, she was able to make my thoughts about the tattoo come to life.
