We went with family who had annual passes to the Minnesota Zoo, and enjoyed a nighttime , drive thru, light show. You purchase tickets online, and they send you a SoundCloud link, which narrates the animals along the way. When you arrive, youre directed to a pair of employees who scan your ticket on your phone. Then, you follow the single car line, very slowly, through the route. It was probably about 20 minutes in total, driving/idling slowly through the show. You see huge balloon, lighted, blow ups, with other colorful lights along the road/treeline. Some animals include moose, wolves, eagle, loom, bumblebees, owl, and much more! Impressed with the size and detail on the balloons. I do wish there were more Christmas lights for the decorations. Although impressive, there couldve been more lights in addition to the balloons.

I really wanted to take our toddler to see animals at the zoo, but was nervous about the social distancing at such a public and normally busy place. Everyone I talked to that had went only said great things, so decided to give it a try. Everyone was right! They have a great system and all of the people were very spaced out. Everybody was wearing a mask the correct way and being respectful of space. The animals also seemed to be more active than I remember and we were able to get up close to so many of the animals!

This Minnesota Zoo is regarded as one of the best Zoos in the country with over 40 years of promoting conservation, education, and the preservation of rare species. It sits on a huge acreage that allows for expansive animal habitats and enjoyable walking paths through the exhibits. The leadership, staff, and facilities are some of the best in the industry. I highly recommend a visit in any season. Winter is just as awesome as summer in my opinion. The Siberian tigers are especially impressive in the winter months.

The wife and I can agree: this is the best zoo weve visited, and weve been to a lot of zoos. The sheer size of it allows for a roughly 3-4 hour visit; however, the design of the zoo allows you to easily pick and choose which sections you want to see and which ones you dont. The exhibits? 10/10. Not only are they the cleanest exhibits weve seen, but theyre also the largest. Seeing the bison have acres of land to graze was fantastic. A lot of zoos crowd them into tiny pens--and theyre just one example of what the Minnesota Zoo does right. A+ guys, keep it up.

We recently visited the zoo and were pretty disappointed. I brought my month old in a stroller and my friend brought her daughter and her friend. We were pretty excited to check it out. The exhibits were great even being as limited as they were it was still a good time to see the animals and walk around. The one way only was ok, understandably with Covid precautions. However the staff treated us like dirt. Like we were the virus itself. It was a busy day, lots of families which was nice to see. However I felt as if I was a complete inconvenience. The halls were busy as well as the bathrooms. We had stayed for about four hours and my daughter needed a diaper change and a feeding. We finally walked by a bathroom following the paths along. It was a busy bathroom with a line so I didn’t want to bring the entire car seat and stroller along and take up room in the already packed bathroom. My friend offered to take it with to the next exhibit and I’d meet back up with them to be quick and not take up to much space. While grabbing my diaper bag and unbuckling my daughter From her car seat a young female employee quickly shouted at me that I was taking up to much space. (Well, it’s a stroller and we were in the line for the bathroom which was out the door) I attempted to explain I’m in line for the bathroom and will be just changing a diaper and the stroller will be gone. She shouted at me multiple times that I’m in the way and need to get out of line so other people can go by. Needless to say she was making a scene and embarrassed me, making me feel bad for taking care of my child. So obviously this is NOT a family place. I was not able to change her and we felt so uncomfortable we left. I feel our money was wasted and there is absolutely no reason to return. I’ve never felt more embarrassed. As a new mom that really was a punch in the gut.

It was awesome! There is a lot of signage and there are guides to help direct you through the different areas. Everyone was very helpful and it was clear where to go. There was easy stroller access. There were no inside food vendors due to the pandemic, but there were some outside food stands. A lot of the animals were out and about. The fish displays were particularly impressive. The red panda gets my vote for the cutest animal there and the otters are a close second.

MN Zoo has done a great job building a safe environment to come and enjoy the zoo even during these unprecedented times we live in. They have setup a long one-way path through the zoo to help with social distancing (but there are bottlenecks, on the path, where people get stacked up pretty close to each other). Its almost the same experience, pre-covid, but not quite. Some family favorites were not open: the butterfly exhibit, sandbox, both playgrounds and a few other stops along the way were closed. Thanks Zoo for trying to keep us safe while allowing a fun, albeit limited, zoo experience!

We visited the zoo for the first time today. It has just started to open back up again with restrictions. You have to purchase tickets online and there are time slots you can choose to come in. You have to wear a mask and there are signs around to remind visitors to keep 6 feet apart. Visitors also have to walk through the zoo following one way directions. It was very well organised to limit the amount of visitors and keep areas less crowded. Our boys really enjoyed the zoo. We were able to see majority of the animals there. They have areas you can walk around outdoor year round and our family favorite, especially during the winter months, is the impressive large indoor tropics where you can spend a lot of time. MN Zoo is always a good place to visit, take a walk, and learn new things. Today was especially enjoyable, because it was the first sunny, seasonal day in a long while. Animals and humans alike were out in force to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Sometimes the view of a furry friend napping in a snowbank was mirrored by a bundled two-leg baby in a stroller, while other times children, giggling and running down a path, echoed again in the gamboling & cavorting of several Takin in their outdoor enclosure. The addition of the bird show and fantastic marine life/coral reef tanks as well as touch tanks, new beach sand play places, and tide pools, made todays visit the stuff memories are made of!

I love the Zoo. It is super stroller friendly, so bring one even if it is just to hold the jackets and the 3 year old when they are tired of walking. Keep in mind, they do not have the African animals that you expect at a zoo, hippos, giraffes, elephants. They are open year round and I think to take care of animals of that variety in the Minnesota winters would be too hard and not healthy for the animals.Go right when the zoo opens at 9 am. It is very quiet and you can see all the animals with very little waiting. You can get up close and personal with the penguins and most.of the animals. We had no problems finding 90% of the animals in their enclosures. This may be because it was almost breakfast time, so even the big cats were out and walking around. Check and see when the non-fieldtrip days are. It can get very hectic very fast. Right now, the non-school days are The first two Mondays of the Month. The gift shop is a little overpriced in my opinion, but with a membership, you get 20% off, so it evens out. There are so many Covid regulations , blocked entrances/exits, 25% animal exhibits, bottle necks of people at all indoor exhibits. I did not see one single person smile or appear at ease in my 2.5 hour stay at the zoo-just uncomfortable and paranoid with masks/social distancing/bottle necks of people/little to no refreshment options/one way in and out. The new arrangement made the visit far more convenient and made more sense having visitors on the the right side of the dividing barriers. Also they had masked staff evenly spread out for help/direction and located at points of route choices like if you didnt want to go outside, wanted to access the gift shop or did not want to do the tropics trail. There was sanitizer units available and the cafe is open with limited seating.. So thankful they are still open and providing a safe activity. Thankful for the Minnesota Zoo!
