So fun!! Camping trip with the girls and it was great! Very clean, family friendly, quiet, beautiful and highly recommended. We tent camped but most of the park was filled with RVs. Hot water in the shower lasted forever, lots of local outdoor activities. Everyone had a great time! We went up to Kings Landing for a kayak trip which was great and very scenic.

This place of natural beauty never disappoints. The water is still crystal clear and turtles and little gators were out sunning today. We checked prices and the State Park canoe rental prices were way better than the Wekiva Island prices.Being a weekend there were tons of people so go early in the day. Weekdays are better if you have that option.

I would actually give 4.5 stars if possible as the ONLY thing we did not love was how open the RV spaces are. Not a lot of privacy or tree cover where we were placed. That being said, we like camping in nature whereas other people would likely love the setup. Great place tho. Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and well maintained campground which is HUGE. Cool springfed pool in the center of the complex that runs out to a little river then to a pond. Tiki bar on premises. Two food trucks. All in all was an amazing get away.

Nice little campground including water and electric on site, and restroom facilities with showers decently close to the sites. Good for RV or tent camping (has shelled ground so bring matting for tent camping, a sleeping bag is not enough), was a decent size spot although sites are pretty close together with very little foliage between the sites. Springs are nice but far from the campground so be prepared to drive. The on-site concession near the spring has a few grocery items but not much, although stores arent far in case something is forgotten. This is a known black bear populated area so make sure to clean up and stay in the swimming area due to gators, it is Florida but they tend to stay out of the swimming area during the day. All in all not bad for the price.

Beautiful Park and swimming area. Also half the sites had full hookups and we were able to reserve the last one #3 online. That being said, there are some issues with cutomer service. They are not available until 5 p.m. when calling the office. Right away the sites breaker was overheating. Tried to call all afternoon and left a few messages with no response. All we could use in our trailer was the AC, which was a blessing as it was over 90 degrees. We finally got hold of them at 5 p.m. and they said we could move to another site. By then it was pouring down rain, and all the rainwater was draining through our site. The next morning we did move, and it was a much better site. It seems like some of the best sites may be saved for first come first serve, which was where they moved us. However, when we requested one more night, they said wed have to wait until 10 on our morning of departure to find out if anyone else wanted it. The Campground also does not provide a washing machine or dryer.

This place is really cool! A great place to go if your visiting or even live here. The water is freezing when you first get in but youll get used to it. I also recommend having water shoes if you dont want to touch the algae at the bottom and have goggles so you can see the little fish. The water is also about 5 and half feet deep with large rocks throughout the area. There is a shallower area if you have small children or just dont want to go to the deep part. There is no lifeguards so I wouldnt recommend jumping or diving in the water. Overall this place it really cool and a fun place to go swimming.

Things you need/want to know.Love this campground.Camp site does not have sewer hook up, theres a dump station to empty black and grey water.M site is a 30 amp. If you need 50, check to make sure they have they have one. This site dose not have cable hook-up.There is no wifi at our site. If there is an area where you can get WiFi, Ill post it when I become aware.I have Metro PCS/T-Mobile, I have two bars only at my site. I am able to work my phones internet. In fact, Im at campsite now writing this.Camping here means I dont wait to get in the park. At least not when I got here after 4pm.I like the spring here better the other two I visited. Not that its better, I just like it more, for what ever reason. So far, staff is friendly and courteous. Read some people didnt feel the same. That might or might not be how they (the camper) presented themselves. My campsite is well shaded. It seems most are..Theres a little bit of gradient here. *Reviewing as a camper*Great state park! The staff was extremely helpful and informative. The campsites are great, with more space between each campsite than we’re used to. They have full hookup campsites as well as primitive sites as well. Shower/restroom facilities on the campsites are clean and we’ll kept. Showers are great with awesome pressure and hot water. Although the park is close to town, there was still plenty of wildlife to be seen, we saw turtles, gators, owls, wild turkeys, snakes. The spring is fun but does get full. The park staff did awesome keepjng it from getting too crowded during these Covid times. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards are available for rent and in great conditions.

As another reviewer said, this park is an absolute gem! I had a wonderful hike on the 5.3 mile orange path. It was recommended to me by the friendly park ranger at the entrance. The trail led me through many ecosystems with myriad beautiful and fragrant blooms. Also saw cool insects, big mushrooms, birds, oodles of lizards and a huge wild turkey. A couple views of great tree structure made me want to pull out my art supplies. Bubbling streams were right out of a storybook. The main spring is a delightful surprise! Such a great balance between manmade and nature. Looks like a great place to camp. Note to self: leave time to canoe next trip. The parking lot is on the smallish side, so you may want to arrive early on weekends. Completely worth the entrance fee.

A great choice if you want to avoid the crowded beaches and take a break from the heat and salty water. I always have so much fun there. Unfortunately, we had a LOT of rowdy neighbors who paid little if any attention to the park rules. Quiet time is supposed to start at 11 but, frankly, I dont think rowdy time ever ended. All. Night. Long. on Friday night and spilling over into Saturday morning, Noon and night. I dont think they ever slept.Had this been our first visit to a Florida State Park, we might not have gone on to explore a dozen other of the Florida State Parks in the area that accommodate RVs. That would have been a shame because we have enjoyed other Florida parks in the area.If this review concerns you, try close-by Lake Louisa State Park or Lake Griffin State Park: an entirely different scene with campers who actually camp as opposed to a mob of people just looking for a place to be drunk.About a week after we stay at a Florida park, we get a survey which asks a number of questions. One of them is Did you feel safe?. The answer here is a resounding NO!. I arrived right at 3 and was set up by 4, before most of the drinkers arrived to spoil the scene. By 9PM I had basically pulled everything back in the RV for fear of it being stolen or shot at then stayed inside for the rest of the weekend. There was zero social distancing, one of the best parts (up until this visit) of camping in the first place. Sites here seemed a bit closer together than other parks but that might have been just my reaction to the scene and those spoiling it for others.I had two other bookings in the future for this park which I have canceled. There are just too many great parks in the Florida system. This is not one of them.

I camped at Wakiwa State Park on November 28, 2020. We were welcomed, by name, at the Ranger station (entrance). The ranger on duty was polite and informative and provided all the information I would need for a enjoyable stay. The weather was pleasant and the low reached about 65 f making the overnight in the @wildjourneys van very comfortable. There were not many bugs and the campfire was absolutely wonderful. During the evening you could hear the chirping of flying squirrels in the canopy of trees above.Bathrooms were spotless and the shower was nice and hot! I highly recommend the campground. Unfortunately the State of Florida has privatized the reservation process and first come first serve is a thing of the past. Reserveamerica.com does a nice job, although I always prefer to deal with a state ranger because they know so much about the surroundings and getting information about the park is important, to me.Check out was easy, just had to leave the rearview mirror placard in the box at the exit. Easy Peasy, highly recommended. Plan to reserve this park at least 6 months out.

It would be nicer if the camping was close to the springs the camping is too full loops with lots on the inside and outside of the loop and bathroom centers in the middle of each. Really you need to drive to the springs from this campground. The spring area is large and algee filled with an area for small kids that had steps and is roped off.

We did the kayak for 2 last weekend and it was everything we expected: wildlife at its finest, crystal clear water, and we even got to see 4 manatees while kayaking. They advised we not take our phones with us if we thought about getting in the water but ended up regretting not taking them. I would recommend bringing plenty of sunscreen, water, and snacks. The $42 double-kayak rental included the bi-hourly shuttle back to the park entrance and was worth every penny. Highly recommend this spring for a less crowded choice.

Great 4.5 mile hike. We had overcast skies and a light drizzle. That made it nice. Not much shade the first mile and a half. It was a great trail though!

Spent a beautiful day at the spring swimming and snorkeling. Rented a canoe and saw alligators, turtles and birds. Camping here for 2 nights, and the park rangers were pleasant during check in, and the grounds are clean with a picnic table and fire pit. Awesome trip for my family and I!

A nice place to visit. The springs were cold but on a hot day it would be awesome. You can bring flotation devices of any kind and enjoy the springs. They have canoe rentals, hiking trails.
