Easy to reach, super clean comfort stations, and the best educational staff. Kids loved the playgrounds, basketball courts, volleyball net, and horseshoes.

Pros: inexpensive, close to town, large sites, immaculate some restrooms. cons: pond smaller than expected and closed for swimming bc of bacteria.worth a trip back to explore trails in harold parker state park.

Lovely extra large campsites. Lots of them are level enough for big rigs. Theres water at each site, though no sewer or electric. Bring a lot of house though! Most sites are very shady which is great in the heat, but not for solar. The little beach at the campground is nice and sandy. Note that the road through the campground isnt as level as some big rigs might want, but its doable if youre slow and careful.

Hidden gem! Stayed for the weekend with the family and we loved it. We went kayaking at Field Pond during the day and hung out at the campground at night. We got really lucky and stopped by the activity field when one of the rangers was holding a class on animal pelts. He was extremely knowledgeable on the subject and we found it very interesting. He was also holding a bird watching group Sunday morning but unfortunately we had to head home. Will definitely come back in the future! Oh and the bathrooms were pretty clean, that is always a plus!

Great park! Secluded and quiet, as it should be. $27 a night and about 30 min from Salem. Somebody took our firewood bundles while we were in town and the ranger came and dropped us new ones, super polite staff. Would recommend.

I hate to say anything bad about this campground that is part of Harold Parker State Forest. The sites are mostly level and spacious, kept clean, and the bathrooms are clean as well and has a dishwashing station outside. The downside is the MOSQUITOES! They are everywhere, and even with plenty of DEET bug spray they still swarm around you. The topography is swampy so they breed everywhere. There isnt also much to do here, and Im not being whiny. The beach is tiny, good for younger kids to splash in and has some sand. Most of the pond is full of lilypads and I saw people kayaking, but it wont be exciting. There also isnt much else to do at the state forest itself. The hikes dont go to any summits or even hilltops, and the ponds are all shallow and covered with lilypads which is ok but nothing picturesque compare with other lakes within 10 miles of Andover. Its a nice camping experience if you want to be really close to Boston, otherwise I will not be returning due to the mosquitoes and general lack of things to do in the local area.

Great campground in Harold Parker state forest. Good hiking, fishing, and playground for kids. Bath houses are clean and have hot water showers. Campground is clean, quiet and very kid friendly. Its a state run campground so no alcohol is allowed, so this isnt the spot to go if you want to party, this is the spot to go with your family for some car campground.

Ive gone camping here for years with my family. We always enjoy our stay. Bathrooms are relatively clean, the lake is perfect on a hot day, and the whole overall experience will be worth the mosquito bites!

You get what you are looking for. Peace and quiet in a pristine environment. A bit long to get to and pitch black at night to drive through. The roads are kind of tricky to handle with a big travel trailer but the sites are beautiful and well spaced out which allows for space and privacy. Facilities are clean and functional but a bit on the breezy side in the Fall. One star less because our water spout was broken, and despite our urgent request got never repaired.

This is a very nice quiet campground. We stayed on the waterfront and my oldest caught a big mouth bass! Very relaxing campground. I had a hard time finding this hidden gem, the sign was small and I was looking for Harold Parker. It helps to know just to look for Lorraine’s on the sign.

I loved it here. It was so quiet and relaxing. I really enjoyed the size of the campsites and the bathrooms were very nice. Also only a few miles away from a great little Country Store where I went in for breakfast every morning. This Campground is relatively small in regards to how many camping spaces it has and it really enhances the experience because you have more room and more peace and quiet.

Review №22

Incredibly beautiful place and the campsites are very well spread out and maintained. HOWEVER, Im not giving it 5 stars because Im from out of state so instead of being charged $17 per night, I had to pay $27! Not really encouraging tourism at all. Seemed very unfair. Paying an extra $10 a night for not being a Massachusetts resident is ridiculous.

Absolutely the best. Large, private wooded lots for tent or RV camping, plenty of bathrooms and showers, lots of things to see and do. Playground for the kids, and a beautiful lake for swimming. I LOVE this place and have been here many times. It is, in my opinion, the BEST place to go camping. Bring lots of bug spray though.

Very relaxing and refreshing camping site under the tall trees.. We stayed by the lake two nights and its peaceful. Unlike family campgrounds, this park is secluded and you wont be sleeping too close to other campers. The bathrooms are good enough for camping (7 out of 10).
