Wonderful forest hikes. Yellow diamond trail is delightful. Just wish you didnt have to hear gun shots all the time :(

Went twice in one weekend. Once to hike, once to bike. There seems like there is varied terrain for both. Did one of the unpaved roads for biking. A bit more rocky than most but pretty good and fairly easy. There are far more challenging trails throughout.

Great spot for easy to moderate walks/hikes, with various levels of mtn bike trails. Can get crowded on weekends - if side lots along roads are full, head to trailhead or campground lot for more spaces. Well-maintained State Forest!

Was so happy to find a trail(s) so close to my home. There really arent that many significant trails in this area of MA but this is a great one and will definitely make it a habit to go back here often. Multiple trails that are well marked and fun to walk around with ponds. Highly recommend!

It was a great place to go camping. Theres a place for swimming in a lake. Also fishing and canoeing. Theres also a fun park for the kids. The cost was good. I liked that I could have electricity and we were right across the street from a bathroom. The park is clean and people are nice. I wish that the campsites were a little bit more secluded though. You can see right into every campsite from the street. The woods arent thick enough for privacy so if you are a female prepare to have to walk to the toilet area every time that you need to pee. Also, youre probably going to be buying firewood (at 5 bucks a bundle) even if you plan on using wood found around camp because like I said, the woods arent very deep and so theres a lack of ground wood. We had a child from the campground next to ours in our camp constantly. He was throwing rocks at our tent one morning while my children were sleeping and it was just a nuisance to say the least. You might as well have just called the 2 different grounds 1. You really couldnt see where they were separated at all because they werent separated by trees. I wanted to hang an enormous tarp around my site for some more privacy. If my neighbors were more loud and not so nice I could see having a horrible time because of the lack of privacy between our sites. Anyway, it was worth it. We had fun. It was the experience that I was hoping for. Give the campsites more privacy and Ill give a 5 star rating.

Its a serene place for a nice day out with family and friends. Has beautiful trails for walking, cycling and horse riding. The park is equipped with multiple grills and tables hence with taking social distancing measures one can enjoy the outing. Due to Covid-19 situation the public toilets were closed so one might face some difficulty.

Surprised to find such vast trails in this park! I grew up 20min away and had no idea this forest was here before a few weeks ago. There was still low traffic on trails on the weekends. My only gripe is that trails markings arent fantastic or reliable - we use a combo of a downloaded trail map and Strava/Google maps to see if we are on course at times. Great place to hike with the dog!

Camping here was great! It was after labor day and it was very quiet during the week. We did not stay for the weekends though. Restrooms were kept very clean and there was lots of hiking trails that were beautiful! Berry pond was gorgeous. Handicap accessible as well.

Absolutely lovely 1st 5mins in we saw a group of deer. Great staff that zoom by often. Might have to go standby/roaming data service on phone. You cannot bring in your own firewood they sell it at the gate( less than the gas station **CC only.) Our site is right in front of a very well lit bathroom. They offer 2grill pits and a water system on your site so bring your pails.we brought USB lighting/solar panels/and USB fans and camping bathroom system and a screen room with patio rug inside since we boonedock often for our 6M bell tent. You have plenty of parking on your site.

Went here for a winter trail run and it was just as peaceful and enjoyable as it is in the summer. Naturally (pun intended) the trails arent cleared in the winter. However, youll find that theres not a lot of people around which I find nice. Theres also plenty of trails that snake in all different directions. Some go over Brooks some go near the lake. All in all I would highly recommend you give it a shot if youre looking for a peaceful and beautiful place to walk or run.

The campground in the state forest is a hidden gem! So close to Boston, no bugs! (We went in mid July), Really huge spacious sites for the most part, white pine forest so soft ground with a few rocks making tent staking easier, cute little pond for swimming, extremely clean bathrooms with free hot showers!

We followed the Bay Cicuit trail just off the Berry Pond parking lot to the site off the soapstone quarry. Drill holes for dynamite mark some stones, piled like a giants attempt to build a stone wall. Lots of places to climb and small hideyholes. We followed the trail to a small wetland area with bridges connecting the hummocks. The boys had a lot of fun!

I love how dense the forest is, the sites arent right up against eachother like a typical campground and you definitely cant see your neighbors. What I really hated was the fact that they obviously dont enforce the quiet hours. I just came back from a weekend stay (9/25-9/27) and on the morning of the 27th at around 1am someone was talking and yelling/shouting extremely loud. I didnt know if they were drunk or fighting with someone but it LITERALLY went on for THREE HOURS. Couldent sleep through it. I still cannot believe no one called it in and NOTHING was done about it as there were alot of people staying in the campground as well. I can understand the occasional dog barking, but this was unacceptable. If youre a light sleeper like me, bring earplugs just in case theres a drunken idiot who likes to scream at 2am.

Lots of beaver activity along the pond shorelines! Well used trails are easy to walk. Not the best signage however. A couple of marked loops but best to have some sort of GPS navigation to really explore. Wider trails are fairly busy on weekends with mountain bikers- be sure to stay aware in order to not get run over. Lots of fishing along shorelines although not sure how successful. Good for 2-4+ mile walks.

Campsites are nice and not on top of each other. Lots of woods, and a lake for fishing. The campground road meanders through the forest and gives a pleasurable experience. Prices were great. We had a water sewer and electric site. Electric hookups are the new modernlighthouse style. Bathrooms and showers are clean and modern. Also not far from Salem. I would definitely stay there again

If you like rocks and roots and technical riding this is to go to place. Its not flowly, smooth and fast.
