This location is a must for capturing sunsets in Anchorage! We drove here straight from the airport and there are plenty of aspects of this area to help you create unique photos with depth - there’s a rail road, trees and mountains in the background to aid in creating the perfect shot.

This place was stunning. As our first time to Alaska, passing all of this on the drive in from the airport was just a gorgeous and humbling sight to witness. Stop in designated parking areas and do yourself the favor to take it all in and explore a little bit. Be careful as always!

I love this place. Right off the road and a great place to see the tide come in and out. I have seen whales here a couple times. Even slept in my car here a time or two. I wish the rocks were more accessible and you did not have to trespass to get out to them but I understand. The train goes right by here so you can get a great view of that too.

Im not an author so any words I used to describe what beluga point sight is like would do it a disservice. The view of the mountains across the water is spectacular and the look to the mountain on the other side can sometimes give you views of sheep and other animals strolling the mountain side. I would recommend going in the morning when there can be a little bit of fog and also at sunset. Both times are beautiful.

One of our favorite spots to go. The scenery is absolutely stunning. There are tons of trails on Seward Highway to pull of and hike. Beluga point is a place that is great for photographers, families, and tourist. Bring a jacket because you will get quite the chill from the wind coming of the ice , cold water.

I was spending a day driving around the Anchorage area after traveling for six days up through Fairbanks and Denali. This was a trip to photograph Alaska in February expecting to see snow and the accompanying weather. :) I had not been disappointed and was treated to fairly pleasant weather, which was not the case the week before. So I drove south on my way to the nature center and started to see what beauty lies just outside of Anchorage. I was going to drive straight to the center but ultimately spent more than an hour stopping several places to capture the view from close to the road on the many road side stops provided by the highway department. These are a few.

There were no Beluga whales visible in the cold winter month of February. If they are out there they are well camouflaged among the floating chunks of ice. The large tidal changes are clearly evident along the shores here at low tide. If you want to see the Belugas then bring binoculars and wait until Summertime.

If youre looking for a view of the Turnagain Arm and to stretch your legs then Beluga Point is a great stop.No restrooms or water here. There are telescopes for viewing Belugas, however the Belugas are not here most of the year. If you see Beluga Whales then youre lucky. Most of the time I see visitors searching for sheep in the Chugach mountains.Be careful crossing the railroad tracks. The Alaska Railroad trains come through here regularly. Dont forget to wave when the train goes by.Beluga Point is surrounded by silt, so be careful walking along the rocks. The silt is like quicksand, so the more you move the more youll sink.Parking is Free!If this review was helpful please click the Like button.

Beautiful view & we visited in August so we we able to climb to the other side. There is plenty of parking & a spring with very tasty water just a little beyond Beluga Point if you’re leaving Anchorage. You may be fortunate and see some whale activities so if you have binoculars you may want to bring them with you. Whales or no whales it is a great view & very close to a great spring so a fun little trip if you’re in Anchorage or nearby.

When traveling to or from Anchorage, plan for an extra 15-30 minutes to stop off at Beluga Point. After parking, scale down to the rocky coast and take in the view with hopes of those white water wonders. There are no promises of beluga sightings, however, we got lucky both times we passed through in August and they were all close to the shore.Great times to go are in the morning and near sunset.
