Great place to go for a stroll. Pick what level youd like in the super manicured trails. It doesnt matter if your 3 years old or 70 they have something for you. The walk under the trees is so relaxing and hearing the light stream is great. There are plenty of benches for reflection or devotion time. My 3 year old loves it. And they even have a small platform for an intimate wedding which was setting up while we were there. If you jeed to get the kids out this is a great place...if its not too hot out.

What a great experience. We went on the zoofari tour for families who live together. They did a great job making us feel safe and maintaining social distancing. The kids loved it! They have all sorts of different rescued animals. On top of all of that we got to feed a giraffe!! Monkeys, foxes, an alligator just to name a few. Great educational experience.

Perfect nature alcove in upscale Anaheim Hills. When we went there werent a lot of people, which was a huge bonus for enjoying this quiet sanctuary of green and browns and quiet streams. Thankfully, the temperature was also great when we went. I would definitely come here again to enjoy the park and the adjacent hiking trails. Beautiful.

Very nice park. Great for evening strolls. Many of the trails are fully exposed to the sun, while there are a few portions of the Stream Trail that are fairly shaded. Many birds, mostly due to a bird feeding area near the Oak Canyon Nature Center building. Some squirrels are fairly fat, since they eat the bird food.

Beautiful place! Visited for the first time last weekend. Lots of trails, some easier than others. $2 donation suggested. The trails I took had a lot of shade. Parking lot is small and fills up quickly on the weekends, but there is nearby street parking. Happy to say that I have found my new hiking spot!

Tranquility nestled in the heart of Anaheim Hills. This is a beautiful little getaway from the world that is right in our backyard. The trail is beautiful. Absolutely stunning. There is a nature center which makes it convenient for using the restroom or asking questions. I recommend this trail to all the nature lovers!

Is a very good place to walk n relax, and get in contact with nature! You can go easy on the right side of the nature center. On the left side if you take this trail: Roadrunner ridge it will lead you up to the mountains and on the walnut water reserve where you can run or walk 1.7m . Is a good place.I recomend it.

What an amazing place hidden away! The grounds are great, and the trails are many! There are goats on the trails that were affected by recent fires, theyre super cute and behind electric fences. Parts of the trail we hiked had a little water flow over it but there were small bridges to cross over. The view at the top was excellent. The trail down back to the parking lot was beautiful. Lots of cactus! Fairly steep on the side for a while but we navigated it quite easily. At the end of the trail is the nature center which was closed when we arrived but it looks like it would be worth checking out! The area around the center has some cool statues and old equipment used for agriculture in the area.We brought water and some snacks and were on the trail before the sun covered the trails. There is lots of shade on the lower trails and not much along the ridge, except for a few structures along the path.Regular shoes and our hiking sticks and backpack with supplies was all we needed for a great hike! Saw lots of lizards and birds and tons of squirrels, and the goats!!Really is a cool little place! Remember, pack it in, pack it out! Leave only footprints!

Oak Canyon Nature Center is such a versatile location for Engagement Sessions, Weddings, and Family Photography Sessions. They have an extremely reasonable photo permit fee! It is such a small price to pay for a location that offers SO much. Not only is the area surrounded with beautiful oak trees that provide a nice cover, there are other open areas that offer a lot of sunlight that is crucial to great photographs. As a wedding and portrait photographer, I love to head to this location anytime to create great photographs with clients. Meandering trails, not too burly in terms of incline/decline but has places with big steps up.Not great for people with mobility issues. Roommate wore sandals with a back on them, though, and was fine.Nice and woodsy, quiet. Just nice. They need more signage, though. Not everything was clearly marked, but thankfully everything either loops after a little bit or dead ends. Not really a place to hike for a long time. About an hour and youll be done if you dont sit and enjoy the ambiance.Seems like a great starter hike.Short and sweet.Roadrunner Ridge trail isnt meant for people with acrophobia, though. Youd likely prefer the blue bird and wren trails.

My sister had her wedding here and it’s quite lovely. If you are an Anaheim residents you get a little discount off the full price. The paper process is quite lengthy but they are very patient. You get to come and rehearse once before the actual wedding. Your wedding vendor must all have proper licenses to work on site. Parking is very limited and it’s a first come first serve basis. It’s quite majestic to have your wedding under nature’s canopy, with a creek right behind you. Wedding guests sits on benches made from trees. You have two hours for the whole process, ceremony, cleanup, and photos. If you want to take photos on the site, you have to pay a little extra.

Review №57

Its small, you can walk the whole place in less than an hour; but its located in the middle of Orange County so you cant ask for much in that department. Its just big enough, however, to make you almost feel like youre not encased in a densely-populated metropolis. Nestled between hills in all the right places, seldom are homes or urban structures visible, and its a great spot to have a picknick with the littles (and let them experience some nature, rather than have their face glued to a screen). If you want a quick change of scenery and a small dose of nearly-unmolested nature, its a great little destination for an hour or two.

I rate almost every place based on my experience with kids in tow and therefore had to give Oak Canyon Nature Center 5 stars based on these comments from the 5 and 12 year old:Can we stay longer? This is my new favorite place to hike! Can we do that hike again but go longer?I must catch a lizard!I like this stick. The resulting tantrum from the 5 year old when we had to leave almost made me take off a couple stars until I remembered that this actually spoke really well to where we went. Was just a really bad thing for mom.Nature. Take your kids out in it. It’s great.

I was able to complete every trail here twice, in the span of a little under two hours, while hauling a child on my back and a girlfriend trailing me. I really enjoy the scenery, and the fact that most of the trails are completely shaded. Regretfully, I have to give the place a three star rating. The three star rating is because I felt as if there were only two trails, though there were many to choose from. This is because once you have seen the upper area, nearly everything in the lower area is exactly the same. Not to say that the lower area isnt beautiful or diverse, but the trails are also so short that I couldnt find a sense of accomplishment in completing them twice over again.Id like to return, strictly for photography purposes, but as for hiking this place is best left for casual strolls with a romantic date or socializing.

Don’t miss their fabulous summer programs, like Nature Nights for all ages on Wednesdays and Camp O.A.K.S. day camp for the kids. They also offer naturalist-led hikes on Saturday mornings throughout the year. Visit their interpretive center with live animals, typically open on weekends and during special programs.
