Great venue for beer festivals and concerts. Plenty of onsite parking and generally well organized events. The museum is also definitely worth a visit when there isnt an event. Theres a great collection of artifacts and first-hand accounts of the historic railroad industry in Altoona.

Very good museum experience, gives you a feel for the enormous size and the complex construction of locomotives and the railroad. The human effort and ingenuity invested in moving commerce over the mountains by rail is paid a fitting tribute. Bonus is admission gives you access to the observation area at the Horseshoe Curve, an awe inspiring spot to watch solutions come to life.

Great history of the area, or if you just like trains. Lots to see outside and in. The cars outside are in disrepair, would be nice to see what they look like restored. This museum is a nice addition to Horseshoe Curve, if you werent planning on going to see it, go, it worth it.

This museum is packed with interactive exhibits and historical information. A few sections were very loud due to auto-playing videos, which may be too much for individuals with sensory issues. Otherwise my family very much enjoyed our visit.

I took my ten-year-old and my seven-year-old here. We started in Greensburg and road Amtrak in. That took us to the horseshoe curve and was absolutely amazing! The Amtrak station is right across the railroad tracks from the museum. The museum was better than expected in the staff was very helpful. It was clean and well put together.

The concert settings are great. The food vendor leaves you wanting for something else. Seeing peoples food being handled with bare questionable hands makes you choose your order carefully. Picking up peoples hot dogs and placing them in buns all bare handed is not acceptable to me.

This place is a lot of fun with many interactive things that are great for kids. They have 4 short movies that are constantly playing so if you miss one, you can easily grab the next. Its also great that if you go to the museum, you get into Horseshoe Curve for no additional cost. My only complaint is there is not a family max cost for going so to take the family it gets VERY expensive!

My husband and I had a “date day” here awhile back. It was very interesting and we had a great day looking at all of the really neat old railroad stuff!! I highly recommend that everyone at least do a walkthrough. It is definitely worth the money that you pay, plus the admission also includes a same day pass to the Horseshoe Curve. Which is also a wonderful place to visit!! It’s a must see in my opinion

While there are numerous things to see, learn, and experience, this excursion is not something I would recommend for young children or hyper individuals due to moderate amounts of reading & looking but not much touching. The gift shop has a little of everything and the staff were easy to interact with. Overall, a worthwhile investment that will be enjoyed by most people (from my perspective).

The show was awesome! Unfortunately, their set up for tickets, bracelets for beer and beer tickets where rediculous!! We purchased our tickets prior to the venue date and still stood in line with ticket buyers just to get in. Then, we had to stand in another line to purchase beer and alcohol tokens. We werent finished there! We then had to stand in another line to actually get alcohol and/or beer. All of that took an hour and a half!!! And once you were inside for the show, all alcohol was unavailable! You had to go back out to and stand in line again if you wanted a second beverage! What a nightmare!

Found out even more about them at this location. The roundhouse was neat to explore and see the projects they are currently working on. The main museum had an incredible amount of history and well presented.

Nice place until I went to a concert there. Summers alive at 5:00 series. Great bands but it is soooooooo crowded. If you have to use the bathroom you better just hold it because the portajohns are covered in urine and the line is rediculous. I hate to wait 30 min. Just for a bottle of water. Isnt there some health code violation that they have to have enough bathrooms and be attended and cleaned? They event is from 5:00 until 10:00ish

A great museum that shares the history of the Pennsylvania Railroad and Altoonas role during the great railroad era. The museum walk through would take about an hour to complete, possibly longer if youre more into reading up on the history and exploring the exhibits a bit deeper. The museum holds a number of great events outdoors during the summer months as well. As good if not better than any major city museum Ive visited throughout the years.Worth a visit if youre traveling through town, or if you live in the city and have yet to visit. Its amazing to see this as the result of an old, unused train lot and vacant warehouse. A valuable asset to the city.
