Dont let anyone tell you, its not haunted. It is. You might not hear or see ghosts when youre there, but pictures showed otherwise. Take pictures. The hostesses were very informative.

I just walked the grounds but I practically grew up there as my parents met as guides and had been involved in the house for years. Nice to see the carriage house converted to a gift shop.

Baker Mansion embodies the industrial heritage that established Altoona as a center for commerce and the expansion of the railroad. Its a beautifully restored private home. Baker Mansion is maintained by the Blair County Historical Society and hosts a variety of educational and artistic programs throughout the year. Be sure to add this on your travel plans when passing through the region!

Absolutely beautiful! The history of the family and the area were presented eloquently and not so over crowded that you couldnt take it all in. Bought a pass to 3 places of interest for 20,so well worth it. A very enjoyable day.

I have never before encountered a ruder staff at any museum anywhere. The purpose of local historical societies is to collect and curate information on their communities for research and education. This seems to be a task that the curators here are both completely uninterested in doing and wholly unequipped to conduct. Lebanon county’s historical society is far and away superior in form, function, and customer service, and is something this organization epilepsy do well to emulate. If collections officer is recommending you to the internet for your historical research needs, it means that the museum isn’t doing its job correctly, if at all.

Absolutley a gem. Blair county historical society meeting place. Very good display of local WW2 history along with E & H Baker family history. Very interesting mainly geared for visitors who enjoy history. Not for families with toddlers, not a hands on touch stuff environment.

The recent restoration work at the Mansion is amazing! The World War II display with many local individuals who served is inspirational!
