Big Ole. This name is literal; hes absolutely huge. The statue and surrounding park are very well maintained and have very nice public restrooms. There a great Farmers Market held here with plenty of on and off street parking. There also access to one of Minnesotas better bike trails. In downtown, close to restaurants, and just off a lake, makes this an easily accessible and fun stop.

The true birthplace of America! Great trails for running around with your dog and a museum to learn all about the rune-stone. Hope this helps! Skol!

A fun place, with musical toys for kids and adults. Plus a nice paved trail.

On Saturday morning they have a little farmers market by Big Ole. Picked up some flowers and donuts.

We didnt get to the museum but got to see Big Ole, good memories.

Nice gathering place...great view of Lake Agnes..good place for an evening walk. There is bike trail as well...there is a small restaurant as well nearby for a quick bite or grab a drink..

Nice place to stop and stretch your legs. There is a beautiful lake behind it which you can take a walk around and enjoy the scenery.

It was fine for a random stop. The lake was pretty. But I would plan to stop by when the welcome center and rune stone museum are open because they definitely made the stop with it.

Statue of Ole the Viking is an iconic landmark in Alexandria. A recent repaint has him looking great. Hes worthy of a photo or selfie! Theres also a public restroom in the building next to him making this the perfect road trip stop.

Biggest Viking in Minnesota! 28 feet tall, 4 tons, created to accompany the Kensington Runestone to the 2965 New York Worlds Fair. Park right next to him in the lovely lakeside park.

Neat thing to see in Alexandria. Its also next to a big beautiful lake where you can walk or bike around. There is also a nearby restaurant/bar overlooking the lake. Big Ole is just a short walk away from main downtown Alexandria.

Who doesnt like a photo op with Big Ole? Sure, he doesnt have a big blue ox, but he is a viking!

They have an awesome, farmers market there on Saturdays during the summer. Plenty of home grown and home made goodies to choose from.

A beautiful, peaceful spot to walk or just sit with a cup of coffee and gaze out over the lake.

Worth the drive if you are in Alexandria. Also take a short walk or bike ride to stretch your legs! (Central Lakes Trail is paved and goes to Fergus Falls to the west and near St Cloud to the east on connecting trails!)

Historical and fun.

Plenty of parking with a nice bike path nearby. The statue is regularly repainted, so it always looks brand new.

Its a cute experience and theres a nice trail to walk right nearby. Theres also a gym and a PokéStop for anyone that plays Pokémon GO in the area! (:

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this statue. On the one hand - giant viking statue in the middle of a nice park in a small town! On the other hand, this statue is quite out there. The yellow tunic, the winged helmet... It is difficult to figure out my feelings on this one. Ole in combination with the other bits of folklore from around the Alexandria area though and man, this could be part of a good day trip for a family - or a good bike trip, considering its proximity to the trails nearby.Solid visit.

Really like big ole park has farmers market and rib fest located there in the summer. And the central lakes trail runs through it. If it had a fishing pier near the lake Agnes access or even in the park I would give it 5 stars

Watched these 4 teenage boys do a drug deal sitting on the base of Big Ole today...right out in the open. I took this photo and called the cops on them.

Big Ole looks good for being old. New bathrooms. Lot of trails and trail maps.
