I went to see the band WE ARE ONE do a tribute to Frankie Beverly and Maze and they was amazing! The place wasnt smoke filled, 35+ age crowd, nice food, good drinks and a friendly staff. Anytime I travel to D.C. Ill definitely make it a point to go back to The Birchmere.

An absolutely fantastic venue for live music. We enjoyed our favorite Raul Malo, lead vocals of the Mavericks, and he did not disappoint. Rauls deeply resonant voice and super agile guitar skills thrilled us, inviting us to dance the night away The Birchmere is just the right size, not a bad seat in the house. Our waiter, Spencer, was most attentive and served us delicious prime rib and sauteed veggies with balsamic reduction. Happy sigh, were already looking forward to the next concert!

I love the Birchmere. Have attended shows there for years. But dont count on them to enforce their mask policy. Many in the audience went without masks, even after the artists asked them to. And even when we asked management to enforce their policy, they refused. I wont be going back as long as Covid-19 remains an issue. We love live music, but its not worth risking your life for it.

Went to Motown and More show and loved it! Totally felt safe and the food excellent: Try the pineapple cider. My friend was there on a date and I told him i was dying of boredom & he let me sit at their area. Each group of 1-4 ppl sits 6 feet away from other ppl. They have brilliantly made Live Music available again.

Arrived at 5:15 pm. Doors don’t open until 6:00 so we stood outside in 90 degree heat and waited. Wouldn’t even let’s us use their bathrooms. Wasn’t happy about that part.Doors opened, they took temperatures and guided us in one party at a time. Service was very good and the food was good. Expect to spend 20.00 a plate unless you settle for the 5.00 fries. Beers are 8.00 and a much better deal by the pitcher. Performance was incredibleand although I felt bad for the singer who could have easily filled the room , with all of us 6’ apart it felt kind of “VIP”.

If you would have told me at the beginning of this year that by the end of it the Birchmere would be my most visited music venue I would’ve called you crazy cause I had no idea this place existed and living 2 and a half hours away I started hearing about the socially distanced shows and have been twice and will be back at least 4 more times by the end of this year the hospitality is incredible it truly is a one a of a kind venue and I hope more people hear about this amazing spot!

This is a perfect venue for seeing a show/concert. You can get drinks at the bar before being seated in the main room for drinks, dinner, and the main event. I was very surprised by the food; it was a whole lot better than I anticipated. The staff and wait staff were all pleasant, especially our server, who was prompt and friendly. Can’t say enough about The Birchmere, and I hope to see many more concerts there!

The Birchmere was a surprisingly nice spot to see Chante Moore. Shes down to earth and funny and the show was quite enjoyable. Its cozy and she even took the time to go through the audience giving love and hugs.In terms of the Birchmere... it has ample parking but get there early enough so you dont have to park in one of the spots that you get blocked in. We parked in the lot across the street in spite of the warnings from the cop that they dont patrol that area and to be safe. We didnt have any issues with safety. We sat in the rear but still had a good view. All in all it was a good show... Good location... enjoyed my night. Will definitely go back.

I had a great time at the Birchmere. Its a bit tight, however, every seat is a good seat. You have to get there early as its open seating. I didnt order food, but it looked and smelled delicious. The crowd was good, I went to see WAR. The workers were pleasant. Theres also ample parking on site. I like the fact that they have a variety of performers for every genre of music.

Enjoyed seeing Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, even though I arrived at 5 pm for a place in line (no reserved individual seats) and the concert didnt begin until 7:30. Great sound, nice ambience, and the food (I had a salad) was excellent and reasonably priced. Would return again!Return visit on 12/19/18..Enjoyed seeing Judi Collins! This is my third trip here after seeing the Average White Band in 2016 two years ago. In 2019, greatly enjoyed Don McLean, who sang American Pie and much much more.Hoping to see Stephanie Mills in October! This place is a local and perhaps national institution! Called today (6/18/2019) and had a great, friendly conversation with a gentleman who has booked groups there for 30 years. At the Birchmere tickets seem to range between $40 to $100, depending upon the artist. But to spend ones evening listening to live music while enjoying hearty food and drink is an entertainment value! Would I bother seeing the same entertainers at a basketball arena for double the price eating junk food? I think not. Theres an intimacy here that hearkens back to another era. The Birchmere is a true gem.

Good music. Variety of food decent. Only problem is you have to get there really early (before 5 pm) to get a number to indicate when you are admitted to the theater which opens at 6 pm. Show does not start until.7:30 so it is a very long wait. If you want decent seat you need to get there early and eat there. When you wait in the lobby there is seating for most (not all) but lighting is bad and there is no wifi so it is hard to read while you wait. There has got to be a better way.

Loved it! I go as often as I can since seeing Damien Escobar perform a few weeks ago. I also saw Najee and Kenny G. The restaurant typically opens at 6PM, but doors open at 5PM. Just about every seat in the house provides a great view of the stage. The acoustics are great, so no need to strain your ears trying to make out the vocals. I havent had a dish yet that I didnt like. I tend to go for the Blackened Catfish, Collard Greens, Redbeans and Rice, and the Carrot Cake whenever I need a sugar rush.

The food is very average and very expensive. I dont like the line-up-and-fight-for-a-number-to-get-seats-after-you-already-bought-your-ticket way that they do things. The tables poor people with those backs to the stage. The lighting crew has a bad having of shining spotlights directly into the eyes of audience members, so you cant even look at the stage. Performance was great. Went to see Jeffrey Osborne. At the age of 71, he looks fantastic (would put a lot of 45 year olds to shame and I am not exaggerating), sounds like he did 30 years ago (anyone would know that beautiful, distinctive voice), and had great interaction with the audience. We have been going to Birchmere for about 15 years now and this is by far the best concert yet. We will be back to see Mr. Osborne if he returns next year.Birchmere is a unique venue that allows you get up close to the performing artists. It also serves food and drinks. I must say that the food is not as good as it was in years past. We go there two or three times a year, so have valid comparisons. Some dinner items were removed from the menu and replaced by others that arent even worth trying, especially at the inflated prices they charge, which would be okay if I got something that was worth it. The appetizers are okay for the most part, but dont expect anything great. With that being said, the bar drinks are good and they do not leave you guessing on whether they actually poured what you paid for. Next time, Ill stick with an appetizer if I am hungry and just get a drink or two. Or maybe eat at home prior to arriving.

Great place to see a show. Great acts appear here. Quirky because its a dinner theater with no reserved seats so you need to get there early to get a good seat. Even 5pm for a 7:30 show, if you can swing that. Food and beer selection is fine enough, what youd expect I think. You wouldnt come here just for the meals. If pitchers of beer fit your style, do that, because the servers can be slow and intrusive during the show. And remember to buy a cd or t shirt, thats how the performers get most of their money.

By far of the best venues for live music in the greater DC area, the Birchmire delivers some of the best singer-songwriters and other types of acclaimed performers in a unique, intimate setting.Seating for the concert area includes large tables open to anyone, which allows strangers to sit together. I have met many fascinating people with a shared taste in music while I enjoyed a show at the Birchmere.Part of the experience includes taking in artwork covering the exterior walls of the music hall and viewing inside the almost unending photos of performers who have played there. To date, I have attended performances by James McMurtry and Paul Thorn, whose show included Steve Poltz as the opening musician. As much as I love Thorn’s live shows, I’m grateful for the introduction to Poltz’s music and personality.Check the Birchmere’s website monthly to see the most correct schedule of upcoming performances.
