Ive ordered from them for a long time and have nothing but great things to say about them, but I recently had a phenomenal customer service experience that I have to share.I had ordered a package online as a gift for someone, and needed it by a specific date. I ordered it well in advance and Self Serve shipped out my order very speedily. The package arrived four days before I was set to deliver the gift, but the mailroom where I live accidently returned the package (oh no!). I called Self Serve and they came up with a brilliant solution. They went the extra mile to pack an order for me as soon as items arrived in the store AND figure out overnight shipping to get me the item on time.When you order from Self Serve, you can be sure that youre ordering from a local business that cares about the work they do, the customers they serve, and the community they are a part of.

I am certainly biased since I work here but I think my perspective is unique because of that. Its true that we who work at Self Serve try to make it welcoming, comfortable, shame-free, educational, reputable, fun, and a whole host of other worthwhile adjectives. But the real yardstick for me is how really great it is to work here.Ive had jobs where I made a lot of money, where the company looked out for me, or where I liked my coworkers. Ive also had jobs where I havent liked the work, my coworkers were unpleasant, or I wasnt valued. Self Serve is the most supportive environment Ive ever worked in. My coworkers are amazing and go out of their way to make my work easier and better for me. I need to work other jobs because, sadly, we dont generate enough income to make this my only work, but its worth it to me. So worth it.If you get a feeling of comfort, ease, and support when you shop with us, thats because it is genuine. We have our perspectives and nuances that make us human, and we do want you to feel supported, valued, and comfortable. I came to find an alternative to a product that broke on me within 2 weeks. I told an employee the brand, said they “would never carry that brand”, I turn around, and see that brand. Plus, I saw toys exactly like it just of different brands (exact same materials though). Then, I was sold a $60 beginner’s kit which wouldve been worth the price if some of the items hadn’t, again, broken within the second use. I reached out to the company and they said that it would be the store’s responsibility to refund me. With my receipt, box, and all the items, I go to the store, show the message from the manufacturer, and I was told there was nothing they could do but offer me a 15% discount for a future purchase. I obviously have never redeemed it, nor do I have any intention to. For a store supposedly concerned with only providing safe and high-quality products, I find my experiences with the store laughable. As of my last visit there in 2017, they even carried jelly dildos. Are you freaking kidding me?
