Interesting place to visit to learn more about thoroughbred racing, winning horses, and the culture of racing. Saw the Christmas lights of Hopelands Gardens, our primary reason for this brief evening visit. Always a wonderful place to stroll and enjoy nature in any season.

It was our first visit to Aiken due to our newly married daughter and husband lives there now. Aiken is a lovely quaint place and I did not know this is horse country! The museum was very nice inside and out and also has decorated winning thoroughbreds history, statues, and pictures of beautiful horses. There are beautiful grounds to walk around with fish ponds and bridges too. Nice place to picnic and the people are friendly. Aiken is a well kept city with a comfortable downtown to stroll around.

The museum is small and the attendant or guide was not able to tell me which or if any Aiken trained horses had ever won the Kentucky Derby...Three stars for the life sized painted horses out front and racing colors painted on the building.

This museum is a great way to learn the history of thoroughbred racing in Aiken. Set aside a couple of hours to give yourself enough time to get through all the exhibits. There is a lot of reading on this self guided tour and a few videos. There is special room for children. If you love thoroughbred racing and horses you will find this museum very interesting.

Super neat history spot located in a beautiful gardens. I walked the grounds after looking at all the horses and riders, and definitely enjoyed my time there. If you need a neat place to hang out and cool off, the Hall of Fame building is fabulous.

The gentleman that greeted us when we first walked in was pleasant and knowledgeable. We went upstairs to check out that area and a lady came up to open the blinds. She was rude and unpleasant. If she were the only attendant there I’d never recommend anyone to go here. Please hire or have volunteers that actually like people and visitors since we’re the ones donating money to this place. Love horses and racing which is why we went here initially. The Hope Gardens are amazing.
