I went to Yuma to learn about the history of Yuma during the 1800s and I definitely could have spent a full day just in this park. Its one of the best kept secrets of Arizona. The park has several original buildings and the artifacts inside the buildings are amazing! The Yuma Visitors Center had two very wonderful women working and were very knowledgeable in the history of Yuma. Definitely plan on spending at least 2 hours here to see and read everything. This was the only spot to cross the Colorado River in the 1800s so wagon trains, the military, stagecoaches, the railroad and finally cars came though this town. The wetlands lay just to the north of this park so you will see a variety of birds!

A nice little museum. Best describes the military period of Yuma and its daily life. Worth a visit. We arrived late and did not taste the traditional apple pie. Well be back tomorrow. charming

Also known as the quarter master depot. Gives you more history on the Yuma area and the Colorado river. Worth a visit. Can walk through it fairly quick. I would do this the same day you do the prison. Both dont take long unless you want it to.

This place contains many historical monuments and pieces from the time before cars. It also has one of the train cars from early 1900,s. You have to pay to get in, inside is some movies that document the historical landscape when Yuma was the narrowest part of the Colorado River. It is kept up very well by The City of Yuma, and the Historical Society.

This is a terrific, spacious, historic park/museum. The visitor center is staffed with gracious attendants who are available to provide you with as much info as you require. If you want to rent bikes or go out into the park/museum there is a fee, which is well worth the cost. The center is open and free with some info, video room, and gifts. The park is lovely, well-cared for, and peaceful. Some of the buildings have limited displays ..... lost history! But, what is there is quite informative. Lots of benches along the paths which was good for my aging parents. I highly recommend this park/ museum.

Was really cool to visit. I just wish the price was a little more reasonable for what you see. The Yuma visitors center is attached to it and has a lot of information and good people to give advice.

Its small and can be done in an hour or two. I met my parents for lunch in Yuma and we walked the trail (free) and then we did the museum. Which is inexpensive. They have a very large visitors section so you can pick up flyers for all over Arizona.

While the park and museum are well worth the visit in themselves, we were delighted to be able to participate in the 5th annual Civil War Days hosted by the park and/or visitors center. The activities included battle reenactments, several informational demonstrations and discussions, and period characters such as President Lincoln and Mary Todd. The modest entry fee of $8 per adult, offered a full day of educational family entertainment.

Interesting history exhibits about old Yuma in the main lobby and display area. The rest of the exhibits are sort of yawners however walking around the property and seeing how the old depot was laid out was kind of cool. They do have a neat old steamship paddle wheel axle that was dug up close to the site.

Very interesting. Yumas history is about water access and theres still a strong water connection via the agriculture in the area. The quarter masters Depot connects that history to now. See the video.
