The shows during the summer are pretty good! Even during pandemic times they never stop giving residents a bit of live music and performance from amazing artists. They followed guidelines and design a smart layout at the amphitheater and took the necessary precautions to make the audience feel safe and welcomed! Love this place. A truly gem in the area of Yonkers NY

Theres so much to see and do at this museum! Even now in these days of social distancing the museum is offering online exhibitions. I recently viewed the Hudson Museum from Home touring its permanent collection. Ive been missing my dose of culture but the online collection offered so much for me to look at, enjoy and learn about. I could really take my time with the paintings and even did some further investigation online reading more on Google about the artists and artwork. I love painting, sculpture, etc. and the Hudson River Museums collections are are phenomenal. They are offering so much online now for families, teachers and art lovers like myself. What a resource to check out online! And when were able to visit again, I HIGHLY recommend it. The grounds offer breathtaking views of the Hudson. As I mentioned the exhibits are top notch, I especially loved the recent Thomas Cole exhibition focusing on paintings of Catskill Creek. It was accompanied by an exhibition by contemporary artists and their artistic interpretation of the Hudson River. The museum does an excellent job of highlighting contemporary artists as well as creating events that connect with the community. I think its one of their strengths (among many.) Theres just so much to see.The first time I visited I took a tour of the historic Glenview mansion. Youll feel like youve been transported to the Gilded Age. Youll be immersed in the art, furnishings and the history of the time. (I loved the patterned wallpaper - but really everything is gorgeous.) I also enjoyed the Riverama - an interactive exhibit covering the history, ecology and the impact of the Hudson River - its perfect for kids, though I pretty much loved it too. Theres also a planetarium - which is on my list for my next visit. The museum also offers great place to sit and grab a snack and chat about what youve just seen. The staff and everyone Ive ever interacted with are incredibly warm and friendly. Ive been to a lot of museums all over the world and this is by far one of my favorites!

They are currently undergoing some renovations so the lower level was not available.Still, the tour of the house and all the antiquities are lovely. The Museum responded and told me that it just an installation of a new exhibit and not a renovation so if I misled anyone I must apologize.Ive returned since my first posting and enjoyed the Herb Snitzer exhibit. Photographs of the social justice movement and great jazz musicians. If youre a lover of Hudson River art, you will enjoy their extensive collection

If you have not been to this museum, shame on you! A unique visit anytime provides an education, uplift and intrigue to many exhibits not to mention a tour of the flamboyant Glenview Trevor family mansionbuilt in 1877. The planetarium offers a insightful and fun experience to our outer worlds and when you are done......look into many classes offered for further involvement. Cant go wrong here.

This is a great little museum which some very nice paintings and exhibits. The attached Victorian house was my favorite. The dollhouse in the mansion is interesting and todays George Washington exhibit was better than I expected. The place is easy to get to, has lots of free parking, and it is not crowded at all. The staff seemed quite friendly too. You will be impressed, and at $6 per person and $3 for kids under 18, you will get your moneys worth.

Wonderful! I wish I had more time here. I was able to attend an artist talk with Vinnie Bagwell who is a local artist who has been commissioned to do public art work all around the country. I love that it is conveniently located near my home. The exhibits are changed every month and there is a planetarium show on Fridays. The gift shop has a few nice souvenirs and books. The Glenwood Mansion behind it once belonged to the Trevor family. It is now part of the museum. Inside you will find antique Victorian Era furnishings and actual belongings of the Trevor family. The view of the Palisades and Hudson River had a nice topper to this location. Check it out, if you have not done so, yet.

In winter, its best to visit on the weekend for all-access experience, including the short film on the history of Yonkerss stately home and its original owners. To top it off, the planetarium and collection of beautifully crafted astronomy instruments will intrigue most visitors.

I took my kids (7 years old) to the Planetarium and they both said boring. I was also bored for me and I even heard somebody snoring. The show (which was called mistakenly The show) was just mans boring talking and showong some planets on the screen above. Waste of time and money ($35 for 40 minutes). The museum also not interesting, nothing for the kids to do plus super freezing cold inside - they put the A/C on max while it was 40 degrees outside! Go for a walk to the park instead - cheaper and more fun.

Affordable. Friendly staff. Interior is very nicely done, with two floors of interesting exhibits containing many beautiful pieces. Historic home is a treat and the tour of it was very pleasant and informative. Family arts rooms looked spacious and well-equipped, but were not being used when we arrived at around 2:30pm on a gloomy Sunday. Planetrium is small but comfortable. Its nice that each day they offer a variety of shows for different age groups. We caught the last one, at 3:30pm, for ages 8 and up. Maybe the weather negatively influencned me somewhat, but my only complaint is that the exterior of the museum could use renovation. Lots of cracked pavement in the parking area and walkways, very worn-out, institutional looking beige walls, top of outside of planetarium dome was all chipped, etc. Its a shame, because the views of the Hudson River steeply below are fantastic, but the museum and its grounds, in their current states, actually detract from, rather than enhance, them. Still, overall we had a very nice time and Id recommend a visit.

The Hudson River Museum is a family-friendly museum located just north of the Bronx. The museum includes exhibitions for art, the geography and history of the region, and the well-restored Glenview Historic Home. There are guided tours and childrens activities throughout the day.I visited the museum for their Steampunk Sunday: Lunar Tendencies day, along with my 7yo boy and 5yo girl. We had a wonderful time with the Steampunk folks and the various activities. We joined one of the art tours, but unfortunately it was too detailed for the kids. However, as an adult, I would have loved staying till the end. There was also a tour of Glenview which we had to miss, but I think all of us can attend it next time.Overall, a great way to pass a rainy day!
