Funny Bone was amazing. Its been a great experience. Staff were awesome. And the show was so funny. Oh yeah, dinner was delicious. We are looking to go back again and again!

The comedians were great! The food was definitely good too, and the servers were exceptional. Very attentive, visited frequently to refill water and take more orders. It does seem crazy to me that they require you to purchase at least 2 menu items (and almost nothing is less than $11). On top of that, they force a mandatory gratuity whenever your table ticket is over $30. When shows are sold out, you end up at a table with other people. That means you end up being forced into a mandatory gratuity because its impossible for a table to order less than $30. Im all for tipping good service, but backing me into a wall and forcing it... cmon. These tables are tiny and barely have room for each person and their food/drink. I will definitely go again, because the experience I had was exceptional, but anything less than an exceptional experience again will mean I never go back again.I hope my review is clear. The people working there are fantastic and the service they provide is well above average. The company policies are questionable at best, and I wonder if that is a contributing factor to why so many Funny Bone locations have closed.

Sound issues all night. The food was good and our waitress and servers were great. I also appreciate the bathroom having paper towels instead of making me use an air dryer #papergang. Im coming back in a few months so Ill update if the sound is better.

Nice venue. Great comics. Our waiter was horrible. He forgot our friends dessert they ordered. We were one of the first people to order drinks and one of the last to receive them. Only came back at last call to take our second drink order.

First off I’ve had some AMAZING date nights here, your food is really good too... minus the fries, your fries are horrible I think you should change where you buy them/what kind you buy. The one missing star is due to the fries.

The sound/acoustics were so bad that none of the four people in our group heard more than about 5% of what was said during each act. The initial server was pleasant and efficient, but food was delivered by other staff with no napkins, utensils or condiments. Shouldnt have to track down staff for items that should have come with the food. We were seated to the left of the stage against the first wall. Hearing should not have been an issue.

I really enjoy the Des Moines Funny Bone! Staff is friendly and the food/drinks, while expensive, are always good. Tables are a little small for my taste. Saw Heywood Banks here for a sold out show and really enjoyed it.

Had a great time here watching comedy last month. The second opener up was hilarious and I bought some swag off of him. The first opener and headliner were alright. Cannot blame this on the club.Plenty of room and the drinks werent too expensive. Place seemed nice and clean.

Enjoyed our night out, but we did not receive our dinner. We got our appetizer and drinks, but our salad and Mac and cheese never came. We let the waitress know and she gave us a coupon for a free appetizer that expires in December. Just disappointed.

Nice place to enjoy a cigar. I like that the smoking area was separate from the dining area.

The aging website hits you with an $8 service fee ( which adds up to 47% - nice cash grab folks ), then you also find out you have a two item minimum purchase per person! They say the key to comedy is surprise, but its certainly not the key to service design.

Great show, saw Christopher Titus on 6/8. You still get 5 stars even though the servers didn’t come by for drinks enough and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable. You get 5 stars because you delivered on the comedy which was the reason for being there. Next time I’ll make sure I don’t wear and orange shirt and sit by the stage, I deserved to be told I look like a traffic cone. Thank you for the great night. Well worth the 2 1/2 hour trip!

Its a small intimate layout for the show. They have friendly staff with great food and drinks! Their drinks range from water to soft drinks to alcoholic beverages. They have a full bar for the wait as well! Never had a bad time here.

Food and drinks are a little overpriced but it makes up for the reasonably priced tickets. Staff was great and very friendly. I enjoyed the show very much as they pick talented entertainers. The only downfall is that I was seated so that my back was to the stage so had to turn myself around which made eating/drinking a little difficult.

Nice place. So much better than the old one. Once that it is no smoking now for those of us that dont smoke. Lots of varied acts. Always have a good time. Food and drinks are pricey but that is the norm.

Went to the Funny Bone last night and was honestly left feeling disappointed. It was a sold out show so we were obviously packed in like sardines. We were also rushed into ordering as soon as we sat down. My friend needed a second to think so got her order in about 10 minutes after the rest of our table. Her meal never arrived! When we asked about it (this was less than an hour into the show) we were told by the waitress that it mustve been forgotten and that the kitchen was closed for the night... Our waitress was a sweetheart and brought my friend a coupon for a free app- even though my friend has zero interest in ever coming back- and comped our bill for the trouble.I also have an issue with the 2 item purchase per person rule. I get that yall need to make your money somehow, but the couple sitting across from us only ordered one drink and one app. Is this controlled somehow? If I had known how lax this rule was I would not have spent $11 on a pathetic plate of quesadillas.

Comics are great. With live performances though what you get each night could vary. Staff sometimes hushes a table for talking too loudly (claims that microphones in the ceiling can hear you), but does nothing to silence hecklers. Wait staff also appears rushed, but orders were accurate.

Food was terrible. I ordered Baja Tacos. They were awful, incredibly bland and had about 2 tablespoons of filling. My husband actually said that it was the worst food he’s ever eaten at a restaurant. Would not recommend. Show was good! Too bad the food brings the experience down

Rude ticket office people - unfriendly and not accommodating at all. We bought tickets to a show and due to circumstances out of our control, asked if we could attend the same show a different night (that wasnt near sold out). We were told no, it was out of their control. They cant make a local decision to let a ticketed person into a near empty showroom and at least benefit from their food and beverage purchases? We attend a lot of shows each year, but that was our last ticket purchase. Not good customer service, at all, for a place that is usually more than half empty. Spend your entertainment dollars elsewhere in Des Moines.

Great show except there were sounds issues. Where I was sitting, the audio was muffled and hard to hear especially when people in front of the stage were laughing. Need speakers that aim to the audience on both sides of the stage.

This place is great. Perfect date night. Who doesnt want a night of laughter? Drinks are pretty good, food is decent, wait staff is friendly.

Bartenders before show were great. Chris Franjole is great. Had a great time. Part of that is where you are.

The club isnt too fancy but has good food and drinks. We saw three comedians and enjoyed them all. The main act was great! We left with our cheeks hurting so thats always good. The club seems to have a steady stream of talent coming in as well.

I had so much fun getting away from reality and laughing the night away with my husband. I have never been disappointed with the comedians there. A good time was had by all. I was even able to meet one of the gentlemen afterwards and get a photo with him. I remember this being such a fun-filled evening. You should go!

Our tickets said to arrive at 9:15pm for our 9:45pm show. The line went way into the street and multiple cops asked us why we were in line. There was a woman smoking in line despite the no smoking sign in front of the door and nobody stopped it which I considered to be pretty inconsiderate since we couldnt move away at all. The line finally moved at 9:55pm and the show probably started around 10:15pm. We were seated in a pretty scrunched table with two other people, but it was a sold-out show so thats part of it. Food was good, but my strawberry daquiri tasted like cough syrup. The couple sitting at our table never got their food at all. The comedians were fantastic, the venue, unfortunately, was not.

Wonderful comedians! Great staff! Good food! I dont really care for the rule that EVERY person HAS to buy at LEAST 2 items each, but eh, what are ya going to do?

Had a lot of fun at the show we went to see. Granted, a lot of that is because the performer was awesome. However, the staff was very kind and did their best to stay out of the way of blocking your view of the stage while still bringing you your food and drink.

Place was great, staff was absolutely wonderful, drinks were tasty. One tip: leave the shredded cheese off the spinach/artichoke dip.

Service is about bad/good as previously described. Order what you want the first time the server comes around or forever hold your peace. I get the need to have a minimum purchase of 2 items, but I feel like that pushes customers to buy the minimum. And 2 items PER PERSON. Important distinction.

Comedian was great. Not so much for the people running the place. Terrible sound system.

All three comedians were hilarious! Menu is better, but food has also been better. I ordered the bacon and blu with onion strips. Didnt see any bacon, and previously I have gotten onion strips on the side. I had a few onion strips on the burger, and they gave me sweet potato fries-which I DID NOT order.

The comedy show was good, but it took awhile to get our food si created it was so busy. They definitely pack you in a small amount of space but Chris Paul & Huggy Lowdown were hilarious! Had a great time

We arrived an hour early to secure our place in line. We were probably the 6th group in line. Had to sit with strangers, (they turned out to be awesome), and facing the wrong direction. Had to turn our chairs 180° and hold our food in our laps to see the comedians. Food was served with no silverware or napkins. If people arrive early, they should be seated up front and facing the right direction. We paid just as much for our tickets as the other couple at our table who were facing the stage.

Comedians were funny. Which always helps. Good crowd. Staff okay.

Have been saying I was going to go for years and never went until last week on may 1st, 2019. Went to see Corey Holcomb. Very very funny man and his opening act,sorry i forgot your name, was hilarious. Only thing I can say is the place is too small and tables too close together and small. Tables are small squares with 4 chairs each so it takes up more room. No elbow space or body fat space lol if your heavy set. Im a plus size so no offense. Needs a bigger place/more space PERIOD.

Honestly, when you come here, youre there for the comedian. Not for the mediocre food or overpriced bad mixed drinks. Youll still have a great night, but not because of the venue. Theyre seating and ordering method could use some improvement too.

Went last night for DL. The fact you have to sit with strangers is absolutely ridiculous. Then our waitress was absolutely horrible and had the nerve to add 15% gratuity. She was rude and took forever bringing drinks. I told her to take the gratuity off because of the poor service! Never ever going back that place is horrible and ridiculous!

Good place for a good laugh its a two drink min per person food is a little pricey but fair.

The wait staff, ugh. They were not professional at all. I ordered a chicken basket but it tasted like it was fried with fish. The food was greasy, cold and nasty and made me sick for days. Drinks were good and entertainment is always enjoyable but definitely dont go for the food. Pretty sure its all frozen but also poorly prepared. Food and drinks are all over priced too. Theyd be better off if they offered better food, theyd make a killing. Overall a good time but eat before you go.

Pina colada is very good here. gratuity included in bigger shows if not all. only complaint is lobby is small and it can take some time to seat people. they suggest guest arrive early then youre left waiting outside.

Des Moines Funny Bone comedy club is a great place for good laughs, awesome comedians, and decent food. Last night the service was not all that great. Im not sure why but the comedy club overall is Awesome.

The comedian was fantastic. The food service needed some help. I understand the wait staff has a difficult job, with the entire rush all arriving at show time, but perhaps they should consider more staff and smaller sections. Bottomless soda was only refilled once. My husband got his meal after an hour. I had to wait for an opportunity to ask for my food after 2 hours, nearly at the end of the headliners set. However, it was delicious once received, and I was comped $6 on a $14 sandwich.

Good drinks. Great atmosphere. Looking for laughs? This is the place to go. Always a great time.

The entertainment was good. We had a lot of laughs. Weve been here many times and always leave planning to come back again. Sometimes we eat supper, sometimes we dont. If youre looking for a fun night out with friends, try it. A fun date night, tonight we double dated with friends.

Great place for a fun show and an enjoyable way to spend time with friends. Tickets are reasonable, drinks arent too bad, but food seemed a little spendy. My only complaint would be the amount of time it took to get service at our table. We were two shows in before our waitress stopped at our table; however, it was pretty busy. Im hoping to make it back soon for another show!

Went to see Josh Blue tonight. Both comedians were absolutely hilarious. The waitstaff was where the problem lies. We were seated probably 20 mins before the show started. Everyone around us was being served by the same waiter, however he didnt say a word to us until almost halfway through Joshs act. Mind you, someone already spent about 45 mins opening for him. He didnt force us to keep to the two item minimum for guests and seemed sorry for ignoring our table but still. Having been a server, when you see all of the other tables in an area with drinks, food, etc and one table still has menus and an empty table... Thats a bit ridiculous.

Josh Blue is the funniest man on the planet. So glad the Funny Bone keeps bringing him back. The club itself is clean and staff is great. Our server did assume my $15 changw was his tip but we rectified that :)

I havent been to Des Moines Funny Bone since it was in Urbandale. The West Des Moines location is bigger and the seating is better organized. Im happy to see they are attracting quality acts like Samuel J. Comroe, who is the comic I went to see. It was raining when we got there as the doors opened one hour before show time. Although there is more room in the lobby now, those of us outside for a time were getting wet because there is a pergola type thing, but no real covered area outside. Our first drink orders were taken quickly and soon after food orders were taken. It seemed to take a while for our food orders to come up, longer than in a restaurant for sure, but then this isnt a normal restaurant. They have to run a theater at the same time and have unique circumstances that go along with it. E.g. serving while not being distracting during the show. We were very happy with the quality of our meal choices. Better than I expected from a theater/restaurant. It was a good decision to have supper there and arrive as doors opened. Overall good experience. Good job FB.

I was really debating how to rate this place because I love the comics but the place itself not so much. The tables are tiny and they put 4 people at each. The food is frozen foods or at least taste that way. I ordered the bean dip and it was served In a little plastic cup that chips could barely fit into. Drinks have little to no alcohol in them and cost twice as much as other places. So long story short unless you are really wanting to see a particular comic I would find a better way to spend your money.

We went to Clash of the Comics. It was good. However, we misunderstood a drink special we were sold to get a souvenir glass. Ended up paying way more than we should have. It turned out to be $14 for 1 drink!

The comics were great. First time out and my girlfriend and I really enjoyed it. The service was good and the food was okay. The two purchase minimum had us a little worried but there are cheaper options if youre looking to save money.

First, I want to say that Dan Cummins was amazing!!! This resting is not a reflection of him. The main thing that made it a less than stellar experience was the wait time to get the food we ordered. We ordered before the show started and didnt get it good till the middle of the main act after the opener and 2nd act had already gone. And when we did get it... all I can say is, dont get the Buffalo chicken sandwich. It should have been labeled a $10 Buffalo chicken nugget. It was tiny!!! It came on a normal sized ciabatta bun but the chicken only covered half the bun and thats if Im rounding up. Good thing the Dan was so funny because that could have easily ruined my experience.

Great setting, food and drinks are good while laughing your gut off with great comedians. The woman in the ticket booth is EXTREMELY rude!

The staff is hard workers under pressure from everyone ordering drinks and food. Small tables for groups. The smokehouse nachos were NOT good at all the coke taste like tap water. We had to sit next to some older racist man. The Steve-O show was awesome.

Great service! The food was OK... I ordered boneless chicken wings and they tasted like they were microwaved and dipped on sauce. Really good service though and funny comedians.

Mike Epps was good better the first time he came to town, but I like to support the talent. They need to hire more staff or be more organized. The waitress was MIA. When she finally took our order the show was almost over.

Literally THE worst experience Ive ever had. They harass you for enjoying yourself. Website charged us for 20 tix...we got 4.The real joke is the actual club.

The food was mediocre at best and not worth the full hour wait to receive it. The dining area and show viewing area are the same. It is very cramped and the tables are so small that my plate had to hang off of it because we had a group of 4 people sitting at it.

Seating is overly crowded. Seating faces away from the stage and you have to sit with people you dont know. Often times wait staff butt is in your face blocking your view of stage. Food is okay and reasonably priced. Josh Blue is the bomb!

Willie Farrell was hilarious! Ed Wilson as Emcee was too funny and the other two gentleman were very funny as well. Wonderful night out for excellent food and fantastic entertainment.
