Nice golf course. Fun to play. Difficult, but not extremely so. In very good shape. Well maintained. Will play again. Had lunch after. Nice restaurant.

We had a very good time. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Course is great, not easy but also not really hard. Free balls on the range. Ice and water too. The only small negative was the group behind us, who hit drives too close to us. We were not slow. Will be back for the one day golfschool.

I dont play golf but the tennis courts and staff are fabulous. I highly recommend you take a tennis lesson from one of the pros. You wont be disappointed.

Very nice Country Club. Beautiful homes, secluded, quiet. Great security as there is a guard house with around the clock attendance. The golf course is one of the finest in all of Florida, and is truly a destination for those who cherish the game. Banquet facilities are superb with very fine attention to details. From lunch to fine dining the good is excellent and the service attentive.

I would 100% absolutely not recommend University Park Country Club. I was supposed to have my bridal shower here in one of their private rooms when Barb Honeywell emailed us that she was cancelling 2 freakin’ weeks before my bridal shower with no explanation at all. I am aware there is a Pandemic going on, but Barb assured us everything would be fine and that she was more than willing to accommodate our bridal shower. The fact that she cancelled on us with such short notice is SO unprofessional and now has left us scrambling to find a new venue. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

Good course. I played 10-27 and it has a nice layout to it (somewhat challenging). Some undulations in the fairway, greens were rolling about a 10 or so. Friendly staff (golf side of it, I did not dine). I would like to play 1-9 and see how that is.

Course was in great shape, greens and fairways were perfect. All the staff were very nice and courteous.

I love this country club, but I need to give it 1 star because of a single employee: Gary. I have overheard Gary, a server, speaking ill of a fellow employee. Its not surprising hearing how bluntly and monotone he speaks to customers. Im not a fan of being out for a good time and having to be sucked into the world of another persons drama, or having to be caught in the crossfire of a persons bad mood.

I started working here as a prep cook before the covid-19 and I have to say the staff here are really nice and courteous. Food here is amazing.

University Park Country Club is a unique place that you just have to visit for yourself.The golf course is immaculate, the staff there does an excellent job. Need a golf cart they have plenty. If you get thirsty while youre golfing just check out the girl on the golf cart, shes got ice, beverages, towels.The restaurant, the food is out of this world.Easy access off of University Parkway. This is a gated community. Also check the website for other activities and events.

Pro shop workers were rude. They didn’t except our tee time. Had a very bad attitude. Never coming back.

Well it was my first time playing here and I must say the course is in great shape although it was very wet and it was cart path only. From tee box to green I must say the course plays well, I did not see any bare spots in the fairways or on the greens. The greens were not too slow which is a plus. Everyone was pleasant and professional, which means I will be back and yes I do endorse the course for you too play. We played 1-18, so hopefully upon my return I can play the other 9.

The atmosphere is fabulous... service is great. .. menu selection variable and reasonably priced. An excellent venue to have lunch out. Highly recommend their restaurant!!

Love the course; the staff though has an attitude that ruins the experience though. It is so consistently demeaning that it must come from the management style of the club. Guess they live off the seasonal non return traffic. Dont plan to return in any case.

No doubt UP is a good course, but as some other fellows already posted, the attitude of the staff is horrible. I booked a tee time over the phone a day before and when we arrived the pro shop they could not find our tee time, However, that was not the worst. The two staffs mean attitude really made us upset. They were rude with no patience at all. not going to play at the course any more.

Within the gates of University Park Country Club in Sarasota FL sits 27 holes of championship golf that will test even the best of players. Each layout was designed by Ron Garl and can be played in 3 different combinations, offering members a wide variety of golf holes.Garl used whatever the topography of the land gave him and carved a beautiful golf course from the woodlands and natural habitat. Many of the holes feature fairways lined with trees and natural Florida vegetation and only a couple do not offer wide, ample landing areas off the tee. Although water is visible on a number of holes, it really only comes into play on 12 or so. Some holes require an easy forced carry over water or wetlands that shouldn’t pose a problem to any golfer – provided you’re playing the right set of tees.Rather than having catchy or symbolic names, the holes are simply numbered 1–9, 10-18 and 19-27. Each nine presents its own unique set of challenges.Holes 1-9From the back (Diamond) tees, Holes 1-9 play 3,548 yards. Most golfers will be amply challenged from the Platinum tees (3,023 yards), while the ladies’ yardage is 2,394 yards. Number 2 is a par 5 that will be reachable in two for many players and can help get a good round off to a quick start. It requires a precise approach shot to a narrow green protected on the left by water, and with the green set on an angle, you may need one extra club to reach a back pin placement.Holes 10-18Holes 10-18 are roughly the same length as 1-9 (3,456 from the Diamond, 3,072 from the Platinum and 2,481 for then ladies), with water factoring into the equation on all but two holes (13 and 14). This side starts out with a somewhat short par 4 - 342 yards from the Platinum tees – but don’t let that fool you. Although the fairway opens up to the right just past the trees, there’s a pond lurking over there. If you can favor the left side off the tee, you’ll be left with a medium to short iron into a wide green. With the green sloping form back to front, try to keep your approach shot below the pin to have the best shot at birdie.Holes 19-27Holes 19-27 play slightly longer than the other two nines (3,151 yards from the Platinum Tees, 2,468 for the ladies). Number 21 (384 yards from the Platinum Tees) is yet another hole at University Park that requires accuracy off the tee. Even a good drive is going to leave a long second shot that needs to be struck crisply. When in doubt, aim for the left side of the green; if you come up short, you’ll still have a good chance at up and down to salvage par.

STAND UP AND STOP DISCRIMINATION!!! University Park CC is a nice golf course but the extremely rude and offensive behavior by pro shop staff named Shane (as told by other staff) has made it a nightmare. They lost and gave away our confirmed tee time. According to several other staff, the club had computer problems today, and that happened to several customers. When we asked about it, Shane insulted my Chinese friend by saying he couldnt understand a word my friend was saying. Instead of working to correct their mistake and provide basic customer service, he pretended to be the manager and demanded we leave the premises. He refused to provide service or check for availability, instead continued to give tee times to other Caucasian customers. As we protested about the discriminative treatment, he threatened to call the cops on us. We have never felt so racially discriminated against. If the club is unwelcoming to Asian and Chinese customers, post it so we dont bother going in the first place. (Just know its ILLEGAL to discriminate based on race and gender.) Do not condone and encourage a person like Shane to humiliate and demean minority guests whenever he feels like it. Many of the staff at the bag drop is professional and friendly. It’s a shame that one person’s ignorant behavior can ruin the hard work of everyone else. Racism and discrimination have no place in the golf business or anywhere for that matter!

We learned of the The Park Grille and their Sunday brunch from a friend and decided to drive from Port Charlotte to try it with some family from out of town. I called and reserved as directed by their website and looked forward to spending some quality time with our family. Sunday morning they called to confirm our reservation and we were already enroute. Upon arrival we approached the entrance only to be ignored by the servers standing near the front door which seemed odd. That was just the beginning of the experience. As we entered the building, we were greeted with condescending and prudish attitudes when they asked if we had reservations. I replied with our name and that we were a little early. I was told, quite rudely that the timing was not the problem but our casual attire would mean we were only welcome outside away from the members. It seems that our clothing was deemed second-class and we were not worthy of enjoying our brunch with the others. They would allow us to walk through the dining room to reach the patio as well as to approach the buffet but we could not relax in the comfortable dining room because we did not fit the dress-code. We immediately left and found another establishment that welcomed our business and my family! I realize the country club mentality but in welcoming the public I feel they should be more reasonable at the least be specific on the dress code. The ironic thing about this whole fiasco is my son-in-law is a IT tech engineer and they have been looking for a winter home here in Florida. I can assure you the the treatment we received from the Park Grille would discourage his interest in University Park. By the way, we were all dressed very nicely but we were wearing denim, you know the scourge of the country club elite.

The greens were perfect

A modern pro shop and restaurant. Beautiful surroundings. An accommodating staff. 27 holes of golf that is perfectly maintained. The golf courses are mature but still expansive. That can be a hard combination to find.

A wonderful dining experience. My wife and I shared samples of 5 dishes. All were delicious. The service was courteous and attentive. The setting of the club is beautiful.

Excellent condition, fun golf course, gorgeous golf community located off University Park makes it easy to navigate from I75, also downtown Sarasota to Lakewood Ranch. There are 27 holes very well maintained and the greens are always in great shape.#AskAncona

Course is in good shape. Greens relatively flat and were slow during my play. Did speed up as day progressed and sun dried them out. Fairway bunkers mostly shells. Reasonable price, 4 1/2 hour round.

Really good golf course ,excellent facilities . Very nice restaurant , bit of a snooty restaurant manager inside so ate out on the patio served by Vince who was excellent . Guess they like their regular members , at least that is the impression some of the staff give .

I think it is a nice golf course, could be 5 stars if greens were in better shape; greens are not in bad shape, but could be better. Lay out is very nice, and holes length is perfect. Not extremely difficult, not really easy.

Nice course, super crowded for 7am on a Monday.Had a 7:07 tee time and they pushed us back 2 tee times so members could play early and never told us in the pro shop.Stater was unpleasant at best.

I have been here a week and played everyday. This us the best golf course I have played. True greens, good fairways and the staff is friendly and helpful. Fair golf course but challenging. I will play this course Everytime I am in Sarasota. Do not pass this course up.

We played at this course for the first time last month. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we thought that the course was well maintained. Food and service in the clubhouse was very good and both the staff and other guests seemed welcoming. My wife and I are looking forward to many rounds here as members. The high ratings are well deserved.

SUNDAY BRUNCHIts open to the public. Call ahead for reservations as there is a security gate to go through. Outstanding food presentation with large glass windows providing views of country club grounds. The brunch fee includes the gratuity. Also, thus is an perfect opportunity to dress up for a special occasion with white linen table cloths. This is definitely five stars!

We went here for a luncheon event. The setting of the restaurant is quite lovely & the food was delicious. The restaurant staff is very professional & efficient. We hope to enjoy this restaurant another day. Thanks so much.

The starter needs to do a better job of pairing up twosomes. We were a couple out for a leisurely day paired up with two men, one being a scratch golfer. No fun for them or us. We continually rushed so we would not slow them down.Another time as a twosome of two guys we were paired up with an 80 year old lady. There was a couple in back of us that would have been better for her to be paired with.Starter needs to use much better judgement in pairing up twosomes and quit acting like a drill sergeant so players will enjoy themselves and come back. We probably wont be back.

Do yourself a favor and go here for prime rib night. Make a reservation and prepare to be amazed. The chef is amazing and the service is wonderful!

A quality golf course for a public course of 27 holes. It was in good shape here in April. Great pro shop, nice dinning facilities inside and out. Managed and run well from bag drop to finish. The staff kept players moving on the course and we finished under 4 1/2 hours. I look forward to playing there again.

The course was in great condition and the fairways and tee boxes were very nice. Greens rolled true and fairly quick. Played 1-18 today when I play again would like to play the other nine. Loved the course.

A very nice golf course perfectly manicured,greens are on the shower side but roll nice.Gentle man at the bag drop that put our clubs in the car was a wealth of knowledge about the course and well represented the course. The your fellow that served our lunch was very pleasant also.

University Park Country Club, rated 4-1/2 stars, is home to a championship golf course that ranks with some of the best in Florida. This tree-lined and open parkland layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.

Nice club/course. Nasty staff at course/driving range. e.g. starter Norm. In your face type. I Was thinking of joining the club but, unfortunately, will not deal with Norm types anymore. Was walking around the side walk behind driving range and Norm (I know his name since he shoved his name tag in my face and dared me to complain to management about his attitude) decided to challenge my reason for being there. Life is too short for Norm types anymore.

Very nice golf course. We played it on 3/21/16. The course was in great shape. There were a couple of holes where the greens around the edge needed some work, but over all the tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens were terrific. The price was reasonable and included carts. There is a practice range where you can hit clubs no longer than 250 yards. The staff was nice especially (Derek?) in the 19th hole. I would definitely play this course again.

The course was great. Very playable but get in to trouble often of you stray from the fairway (which is typically wide). The clubhouse is very nice. The locker rooms though are small and on the backside of the clubhouse with doors outside. The clubhouse grille for beverages and food as well as restrooms is not close at all to #1 tee, #9 green, #19 tee, nor #27 green. Not sure about #10 tee & #18 green. So making the turn means no relieving oneself not food/ drink.

Unbelievable! Just played this week and was blown away. Immaculate golf course that is challenging but fair. Greens are so pure and the layout is incredible. Only $40. Will be back, no doubt!

Very disappointed. Service was very bad. Never picked up used plates until asked. Never came by to ask if anyone wanted coffee or another drink. Food was good but for s brunch mainly breakfast food. No roast beef ham or any carving station. Honestly we would have had a better time at any breakfast restaurant. I won’t be recommending this brunch to anyone

I played the course on Easter Sunday, while the Masters was recording at home. The employees were very cordial, including the starter, he went out of his way to make me feel like I had been a member for years (my first time playing the course). They have a great layout with 27 holes for you to choose from. By far one of my favorite public golf courses in Sarasota.

I was very excited to hit the course due to hearing a lot of good things about it. That mood was quickly changed due to a rude starter. As soon as he realized we didnt belong to the Country Club, the idea of kind customer service went out the window. He kind of reprimanded us like a teacher would a kid that acted up? Totally uncalled for, without a doubt. We were a few minutes late due to being told inside we could hit a few putts. It wasnt busy enough for him to give us a attitude due to being a few minutes late. It ruined the whole mood of the outing. Talking down to us while instructing us on what 2 nines we would be golfing. Basically making us feel likk: e we didnt belong golfing at this upscale snobby litl Country Club. Fret not, I wouldnt play there again if you paid me.

My wife and I spend a week in Sarasota every year to play golf. This is our favorite course and the only one we would come back to every year. Courteous and knowledgeable personnel from the pro shop to the starter to the servers in the restaurant. Greens and fairways were in great shape. (Played 19-27 & 1-9). Well be back. 12/20/12.
