The Harwood is perfect for an afternoon. Its just large enough to have a good variety of work, but you can easily take it all in with just an hour or two visit. On Sundays they also have free admission for Taos residents!
This is a nice little museum. I especially liked a temporary exhibit about merchandise from The Party Store epitomizing our wasteful consumer culture. But I must emphasize the smallness of this museum. One can see the whole place in about half an hour.
There are a variety of paintings honoring Native American culture, still going strong. Plus the home/museum is filled with Hardwoods magnificent carpentry. Its a gem.
Very nice museum. I think we saw everything. If youve never been here do stop.
Is there anything better than looking at art?
I was blown away by Agnes Martin’s room. The books in the gift shop were great! It was difficult to keep myself from buying all the things.
Very fine collection although not large.
Lovely art. Closed a little early though
Aweful exhibits. All four of us were disappointed in the entire museum. Waste of money and wasnt informed at the desk with any information on what was on display or we wouldnt have gone in.
5 stars. loved it. thas right! 2 trips to date, and counting, o Judy Chicago show: The Birth Project. a collaboration o other female artists wit textiles & history of womens empowerment. all encompassing really. as a dude that grew up around Mamacita & 3 sistas, cant say I was stunned, because anyone wit a head on their shoulders knows that strong women are a force of nature. wish they would have had some ephemera from The Dinner Party but thats probably at Judys spot in Belen. big ups to Harwood Team, making us Taos proud!
Enjoyed my visit. Such a varied collection. Especially interested in Meredith Garcias black and white photograph display. She creates an unusual and wonderful experience in her photos. It was great to see the works of other Taos artists as well.
Excellent venue and exhibits.
Must visit place. Extraordinarily exceptional art place
The Harwood consistently has wonderful shows. The Works by Women show is one of their best. Works by Anita Rodriguez, Erin Currier, Mabel Dodge Luhan and so many other women.
Loved the womens art show. Hope it travels. First time there recommend it to others, men too.
Saw the womens exhibition. I am absolutely knocked out. It was fabulous. And so is this venue.
Good contrast to the Fechin museum just up the road. Lots of different art in a super-remodeled location. Part of a good museum tour of Taos
Beautifully curated space featuring famous artists inspired by the local beauty
Some of the greats of NM art are on display here. Should be on the top of the list for visitors to Taos. Nice staff, good (small-ish) collection, interesting rotating exhibits.
Wowowow, this museum is big time impressive.
We saw a selection of pieces from the museums collection. A nice range of paintings, drawings and prints. Something for every taste.
Women in Art show was amazing! Dont miss out on this event.
You cannot miss this! Great art and friendly people!
Dont miss the current exhibit by female artists working in the Taos area: it is astounding, very strong- especially the contemporary works.
I didnt really get the art, but it had a decent vibe.
Well worth a visit. Some really nice paintings and local history.
Excellent museum
Excellent small museum that primarily celebrates the artistic heritage of Taos.
High class, intellectual art, presentations and music remarkable for a small town
I visited to attend the opening of the work of Mimi Saltzman, which was very fun. Mimi was talking with other people so I did not get to ask any questions...about how she executed these works .Across the hall in the next gallery were also very interesting works; I was especially captivated by the photography of David Williams , the Sangre de Cristo health patients. Thank you very much for the written explanations and comments of each photograph. (And the bench to sit on to take a bit of time with each photograph.) I was fascinated and enjoyed my short visit into the life of these individuals.Thank you!
World class museum in the heart of beautiful Taos, New Mexico!
This place has some amazing pieces.
Amazing unique pieces, beautifully curated.
Unmemorable, even though I am a BIG art fan.
Must see when in Taos!
Blah.
