If I could give negative stars I would. First, the halloween themed show gets cancelled because weather (got it, you can fight the elements). But who wants to see a Halloween themed show in November? I don’t for sure. Now the show for the holidays which I had reserved over a month ago for the 18 of December is postponed to the 27 or 28 of December! Again, who wants to see a show after the season is over? Again, I don’t! Piss poor planning, produces piss poor performance!

Review №2

I love going to see shows here. There are excellent shows both new and the classic. Even the bad seats are still really good and the staff are very helpful. Get there early to get good parking and dine at the featured restaurants for a nice treat. Its pricey but very nice.

Review №3

An absolutely fantastic venue to see a show. We saw Always, Patsy Cline and lived it. Pat, our usher was so cordial and helpful. Id like to thank her.

Review №4

The area is under construction but the place is amazing with the riverwalk going across it. It is beautiful

Review №5

Our two daughters have taken various dance classes here for years. The facilities are awesome and the teaching is at a high level. This is the best place for ballet and other dance styles in the area.

Review №6

Always a 5 star experience at The Straz. Tonight we sat outside for a Halloween performance by the Tampa Opera Singers. Beautiful and funny and a perfect night surrounded by the lights of downtown Tampa!

Review №7

Watched the bee movie on the way here, pleasurable experience. When I got my pamphlet I saw an add in it with a really dapper looking dog. I highly recommend eating the dried peaches, they taste like tea bags, I didn’t like them.

Review №8

I drove from Orlando to catch one of the last Hamilton shows in Tampa. The Straz Center staff could not have been nicer. Even their security and valet teams were cordial. The seats were comfortable, the Playbills were equally detailed with local and theatrical information, and the venue was very accessible to those who are handicapped. The restrooms were very clean and also quite accessible! Should a show or performance be sold out in Orlando, I will absolutely actively add Straz Center to my search.

Review №9

The Staz is always amazing (clean, classy, good time) however thanks to Corona we had an outside performance. IT WAS GREAT! It happened to be a good FL weather night (no rain low humidity). Watching the performance and watching boats motor by on the Hillsborough River and a few stars visible above was PERFECT. Note, reasonable prices drinks for the area but the brownie was just plain. I didnt order food however was with friends that did and they all said it was ok. Hey, we are there for the performance, right? Thank you to the Straz for pulling off an outdoor event during this time! Great staff and amazing performance.

Review №10

Wonderful show and helpful staff. We asked about greeting the musicians after the show and found the answer. Well later out floor plan with easily accessible bathrooms. The main theater is beautiful and modern. Have seen multiple shows here from kids performances to Broadway. Sits are slightly stiff in the upright position but its not a movie theater. Have enjoyed every experience.

Review №11

Great facilites all around. My daughter participated in the YAGP dance competition this January/2019 so we were there for four days. The theaters are wonderful, and there are several places to eat, some outside surrounded by the beautiful gardens, and a cute coffee place that I frequented every morning or afternoon after observing the competitions. Near the fountain, it was one of my favorite places to seat and read. This is place I would love to comeback.

Review №12

Hamilton was an amazing show. The girls absolutely enjoyed the experience. The sandwiches were surprisingly delicious. We were sad we couldn’t finish them and had to toss them before going in. Get there early to enjoy the food! Hamilton as a show so so great. Wonderful weekend activity.

Review №13

Straz Center is a beautiful setting with multiple theaters including Morsani Hall for major concerts and Broadway shows down to the intimate Jobsite Theater which often features newer works. Reservations for Maestros Restaurant, often with themed servings, is an excellent choice for pre-show dining and to complete the Straz experience.

Review №14

We had a great time! Love it. Will go there more often.

Review №15

We have been there several times and had a wonderful time every time. This time for Fiddler on the roof. We got there early so we could enjoy the entertainment on the outside stage. STRAZ thought of everything. Tables, chairs, drinks and entertainment. Theres an army of guides inside to help you anyway you might need. The show was in the large theater (2600 comfortable seats) there are no bad seats. There are 3 additional smaller theaters in the complex. Everything went perfectly. If you have the opportunity to go to a play at the Straz i recommend you do so.

Review №16

Excellent time taking the grandson and his aunt my baby girl to view the Paw Patrol Musical! Im always impressed with the Starz Center. The shops and restaurants both indoors and outside never disappoints! We will be revisiting for Mean Girls and the Illusionist coming next year. Amazing time my grandson chanted as we were leaving the Straz.

Review №17

Went to see George Lopez. I had VIP tickets, so I got to go to the VIP lounge. The bartender was awesome. Very friendly and has a great taste in music. The auditorium was nice. The sears were comfortable and there was plenty of space to get in and out of your seat.

Review №18

Great venue!!! I absolutely love the Straz Center! I have seen many performances here! The latest was Aladdin!!! It was amazing! So much fun and very entertaining!

Review №19

Great experience..Make sure to book an reservation if you want to dine at the Straz or local Restaurant on the river..The place gets packed so make sure you arrive early..Shows are AWESOME..Ive seen Wicked and Aladdin.. You can order drinks and a snack from one of the many food booths though out the main lobby.. Not to many seats in the main lobby so prepare to stand.. i cant wait to see another show..Dress is casual but you will see a few dressed to impress..

Review №20

Great experiences. There’s always something going on. From theatrical events to musicals to business meetings the Straz Center is used for all kinds of entertainment.

Review №21

The most sanitary place I have been to during covid

Review №22

This is a wonderful theater with fantastic acoustics and colorful lighting. The hive fixtures overhead are very modern and really interested me despite my focus on the Paw Patrol Live performance. Ok. I was mostly watching my children enjoy the show and the theaters appearance but the show was well done in this versatile environment. The venue was clean and accessible. We were on the 3rd floor and it wasnt as steep as Amelie Arena which is very good when terrified of heights. I will say though that the seats are narrow for my hips. Size 3x beware. It hurts to sit, so do it fast.

Review №23

I attended the Florida Orchestras close out of its 2018/2019 season with Tchaikovskys Violin Concerto and Shostakovichs Symphony No. 5. I sat in the Mezzanine level and the acoustics were surprisingly good. The ticket prices vary but for what you pay for in the Mezzanine level, its pretty solid. The venue itself is gorgeous. The drinks were rather expensive but it is typical theater prices. I look forward to coming back next season.

Review №24

We had a great time at the Stars Center. We parked at the Poe garage and walked. Later on we wish we would have parked further or with valet because exiting the garage after the show took a full 30 minutes. Even though, you paid on the way in, you had to put your ticket in a scanned on the way out...The seats were comfortable at the show. Food at the side areas was poor and expensive. The bathrooms were an issue for sure. They have massive lines and had to open up the other theater during intermission. It’s a beautiful theater! Great sound! I would return for sure!

Review №25

We went to the Straz Center for the first time to see Hamilton. This photo is from the back row of the Mezzanine level dead center in the middle. The theater is as nice as I expected. The real star of the theater however was the ladies restroom attendant. She got about 20 people in and out in under 4 minutes! Otherwise, the lobby was traditional theater fare. They sold souvenirs, snacks, a candy bar where you fill your own bucket, and regular bars. They take credit cards at all of the vendor stations. Beware of the prices! Two mixed drinks and a bottle of water was 30 dollars. Not bad for theater prices, but expensive if you are on a budget. Outside they have beautiful fountains and a riverwalk area that had a small bar in an airstream trailer. It was a really pretty area to talk about the show before we made our way to the parking lot. Speaking of parking, we found a lot where we paid two dollars!!! It is the Royal Regional Lot located on N Tampa. You have to walk a little bit to get to the theater but for 2 dollars it is worth it. Overall it was a great theater experience and I will be back.

Review №26

My daughter had such a good time at Pal Partol live. Made some awesome memories

Review №27

Fantastic experience. The Mean Girls production was amazing. Just for any other Deaf people/HOH they have headphones available every show and Thursday nights they have an amazing team of interpreters for us Deaf folks. BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM WHEN YOU BOOK TICKETS. Otherwise you may not be seated close to them.

Review №28

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables at the David Straz Center and it was such a lovely performance. The acoustics were awesome and the seats were comfortable during our 3 hour show. The Center had several bars set up for the crowd and the wait wasn’t too bad considering how many people were attending this show. The attendants were very helpful and incredibly efficient at getting everyone to and from their seats. One star off for the limited bathrooms compared to the number of individuals that had to line up during the intermission, it was utter chaos and rather unpleasant as an employee shouted directions in a jarring tone over and over again, similar to a cattle call. I recommend valet parking at this venue which was reasonably priced and took the pressure off of parking and walking a considerable distance in downtown Tampa on a Friday night.

Review №29

Ive seen several plays at the Straz Center. So far every play has been phenomenal. The Straz offers season tickets which basically give you the ability to have specific seats for multiple shows. There are a few seats where you can see half the stage but overall the Straz is amazing.

Review №30

My first time visiting. Came here to watch the George Lopez show. Seats were great and employees were very friendly, and courteous getting everyone into their seats. The security check was also fast where there was no delay with people entering. Would come back for future shows.

Review №31

Great place, super expensive and the stage is smaller than I’d like. that being said the staff is friendly and helpful and the seasons always have something for everyone. Opera Tampa and the Ballet are a special treat full of local talent and I’ve never seen an orchestra here that has disappointed. All in all I knocked a star because they need more space on those stages, but they really are very creative and giving to our community. Love TPAC and all it does for culture and the arts!

Review №32

Wonderful theater venue in a lovely setting along Tampas River Walk and Hillsborough River. Several dining options.

Review №33

Really loved the history of the building really nice.

Review №34

Personal Tour for the Blueprint4girls. They enjoyed all the behind the scenes and learning more about the possibilities in expolring the arts at the Straz.

Review №35

Massimo evento ieri sera con Il Volo.... Bravissimo ragazzi.... Great, great venue... Easy parking at Poe Garage for$10. Easy drive from anywhere on 275 N. Very reasonable ticket prices. NOT a bad seat in the house. Great service by volunteers!!! Amazing view of the nearby Hillsborough River ... It and the River Walk is just a few steps from the Straz... The River Walk itself is a fun venue... There are 2 restaurants: a formal one inside & an informal one outside, also a coffee shop, and of course, mobile bars inside and outside the center. You gotta go!!! Pick a good show!

Review №36

Great little bar on the riverfrontGive it a try

Review №37

Just saw the Hamilton show it was pretty awesome. Not really a bad seat in the house just some further away than others. The hall has great sound.finally there are some restaurants nearby where you can park and walk without paying for parking

Review №38

Love the Straz! Always fun and educational!

Review №39

Great place to enjoy a show. Beautiful.

Review №40

Beautiful surroundings and love the atmosphere. Been a few times already and enjoyed all the productions. Modern with a classy feel. Took a star away due to being served a drink in a plastic cup. Sorry dispite the reasons that can be given, just a big stickler on plastic cups when you spend good money already.

Review №41

Great place to spend an evening. Fiddler on the Roof was outstanding. Always good to get a bite to eat before the show at Maestros outdoor cafe. I love strolling down the RIVERWALK and arriving several hours early, strolled around UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA campus. There were photographers everywhere doing shoots of families, formals and even a bride and groom who arrived in a Bentley. A wonderful evening.

Review №42

Omg I loved the theater and Aladdin was amazing! The snacks were reasonably priced also. Follow me on IG @kingdomfitlife for more of what Im doing

Review №43

Broadway quality theatre in downtown Tampa showcases some of the greatest plays and concerts that can only be seen in places like London and NY. Hamilton, Wicked, The Nutcracker just to name a few

Review №44

Was here to see Wicked. Its a beautifully appointed theatre. Sat in mezzanine 6, great seats. The seats in the mezzanine are just chairs that are movable which seemed odd for such a beautiful building. The show was extremely well done. The set and stage were fantastic.

Review №45

Id never been to the Straz Center before until last week for a comedy show for a friends birthday. Its so big and gorgeous in there! Honestly, it was so easy to get in and get right to our seats. We had a great view and enjoyed the show! I already have tickets for another show there!

Review №46

Always an excellent experience! Best shows in the biz!

Review №47

This is a beautiful theatre that hosts high-quality productions. The biggest issue is parking. Its in a very crowded area if downtown Tampa and parking is both expensive and spread out. The other annoying issue is the uncomfortable seats. My grandson is a big man (over 64) and he could not get comfortable due to the narrow spacing between aisles. I noticed the man seated at the end of our row was also uncomfortable. I am petite but the seats were not comfortable for me either. As we were leaving, the lady seated next to me also mentioned the uncomfortable seats. We did have a nice view of the stage from the balcony, if only we could have stayed for the entire performance.

Review №48

Getting fully up grades looking great to go explore

Review №49

Everything is great, loved it (except ONE thing)! My only gripe is the spacing in the rows... if youre seated and someone gets up to use the bathroom or if someone is coming in fashionably late, everyone has to get up to let them walk through.

Review №50

The center itself was great and beautiful. Since it was located on Tampa downtown, riverside of Hillsborough River, its outside area offers a fantastic atmosphere with an excellent view. The restroom is quite small and old, though. People can find free street parking somewhere nearby and walk to the center or valet. The Margherita was not too good. During the Intermission, there was almost nothing to do but buying the souvenir, having a snack, and chatting around. Good news is there was strong and free Wifi signal throughout the theater. The concert I purchased the ticket for was The Phantom of the Opera: North America Tour, which sadly was a disappointment - looks good (visual effect) but did not sound right (the orchestra was not full size and I have listened to higher singing voice). The falling chandelier was dropped slowly above the customers.

Review №51

Just the best! Thats all I have to say. Your expectations will be exceeded.

Review №52

Went to see mean girls. The view was good, but Im wondering what was going on with the air-conditioning it was crazy hot!!!!!! No joke Ive never sat so high up but it was really hot. Dont know it if was the location or if the air-conditioner was broken. ........something to think about.

Review №53

Fitst time visited the Straz Center We had The best experience, the stuff super friendly, very comfortable seats, good location. Overall a beautiful building. ️

Review №54

Well designed, friendly and courteous staff, Great entertainment venues.

Review №55

Took my daughter here for her 7th birthday to see the little mermaid. She absolutely loved it and wants to go a bunch more. The only thing I didnt like was the seating is way to close together and the air conditioner wasnt working correctly but other than that it was great.

Review №56

Great event location with some really great shows.

Review №57

Always a great experience! Courteous knowledgeable staff, very clean & great dining options on premises or nearby to round out the experience. You can done alfresco & enjoy the Riverwalk (pic below)

Review №58

Once Upon An Island was tremendous. The cast was beyond talented, the choreography was mesmorising. The music told more than a story, it transforms you to a place and a time you didnt know existed. A wonderful show, a wonderful cast and a wonderful evening.

Review №59

Love this place. Went to see Rocktopia, great venue for concerts. Very comfortable seating in the orchestra pit.

Review №60

Great place to catch a show! Great food options that are walkable from the center as well!

Review №61

Once known as the Tampa Bay performing arts Center, this facility is a great place for shows, concerts, and other performing arts. The attached Patel Conservatory offers child and adult classes in theater, music, comedy, and others. The facility has great acoustics and seems to be laid out as good as possible given the size. Some of the balcony seats make viewing shows difficult.

Review №62

I went to see my sister perform here. The staff was very nice and helpful. She performance was amazing! Couldnt have been a better place for her to perform.

Review №63

I built several relationships with HR and employees and staff members here while working for a job placement service for individuals with disabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and customer service I received as well as a patron as well. I highly recommend this establishment if youre in the area and youre looking for fine entertainment of the arts.

Review №64

Great theater. I only have two complaints. They only have 1 changing table for babies at the front. They need to have more for their shows that are for children. Also once I got close to the building, my phone wouldnt work and I couldnt get my app to open to pull up the tickets. Need to have better wifi or something!

Review №65

The Phantom of the Opera was awesome. This is a beautiful hall. The staff was very professional and helpful.

Review №66

The facility is beautiful. The staff is outstanding. But...I was there with my 2 y/o and needed to change him. The bathroom on mezzanine level, that is designated for family/handicap individuals(and has a sign on the door that specifically states that parents w little ones, or those with handicaps have first priority) did not have a changing area/table?!?!? I was not about to use the floor. The restroom on the other side did not have one either according to who I was with so I had to change my son on a bench in front of everyone. Fortunately i have and used a changing pad, but i mean, really Straz Center?

Review №67

Love the different smaller events they do as well! I was able to meet Roxane Gay and it was such a great opportunity for me to meet a hero of mine!

Review №68

The Center is gorgeous, but parking to get here is a living nightmare. Downtown Tampa is cursed with absolutely horrendous traffic patterns and just enough parking available for each performance. Come here with plenty of time to fight with traffic and circle around for a while for a place to park. The staff if very friendly and helpful and there are some places to grab a bite to eat or have a few drinks before and during performances.

Review №69

Great proformers ,we watched The lighting thief,my family was very happy!

Review №70

A great place to go for performances! The staff was wonderful and seats were comfortable. Had a great time there!

Review №71

The Straz is always an exciting family outing. We saw the Black Violin. It was a phenomenal show. If I had one critique, there was not enough handicap parking and valet was full.

Review №72

Always a good show, theres no bad seat!! We really enjoyed Anastasia, I cant wait to see it again.

Review №73

Went on a backstage tour of the stress theater! I have never been so amazed at the inner workings of a theater to this degree. The stages and the auditoriums range from huge to intimate. It was awesome to see all the different shows that have been there and all of the famous personalities that have appeared on the stages. I personally think ticket prices are a bit high but thats certainly a matter of opinion. I would recommend the stras and the Riverwalk area around it to anybody who is downtown Tampa!

Review №74

We had an amazing time watching Cinderella. First time ever and I would definitely do it again. My daughter enjoyed it very much.

Review №75

We moved here from New England, and one of the first things we did was to attend concerts and even some plays here at the Straz. Ok, so its not the Boston Symphony Orchestra but the Florida Orchestra is still very enjoyable.

Review №76

We visited the Straz center for Hamilton. We parked in a parking lot adjacent to the was rather expensive ($30) but it saved us a long walk. Valet available as well. Maesteos cafe, an elegant, and pricey, venue is located at straz. The menu was creative, as it catered to the performance with dishes named after characters or song titles in the production. The candy bar was a hit! There were several mini bars throughout so grabbing a drink didnt take too long. There were a couple of photo op spots. Bathrooms were very clean. Although there are lots of stairs, there are elevators and roomy seating. The theater seats are comfortable with a decent amount of walking space. We sat in balcony 4 and the acoustics were perfect! We would definitely return to this performing center.

Review №77

Great venue. Staff is always incredibly welcoming and theres not a bad seat in the house.

Review №78

Went to Alexander Hamilton. Literally the very last row. Its not that apparent from seating chart you really need binoculars.Obviously this is a show in very high demand. It might be they added these due to demand and these seats are not normally there? The audio was pretty good though. No complaints there. That was most important. While I will go again as occasion warrants, I will hold off if I cant get a decent seat.

Review №79

Amazing theater. Accommodating staff.Theater is accessible. Great production of Hamilton.

Review №80

I ate tea bags here and it tasted good.

Review №81

Saw Aladdin. Beautiful production. Straz very nice and personnel were great

Review №82

1st time coming to this theater and had a wonderful time. Location was easy on/off Hwy. The staff was very friendly directing us to our seats. View was very good. Lightning thief was a campy and very entertaining show. Great moment for myself and my 11 year old. Thank you

Review №83

Nice performing art center, my daughter was in the fine arts festival through the school district of Hillsborough County, and the kids were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE

Review №84

Mean girls was fun, we ate at the Maestro Cafe before the show, the salad bar was good, lots of choices. Always a fun night at the Straz Center.

Review №85

Great shows and entertainment. Security is fast and staff is always friendly! Parking could be a better situation.

Review №86

Easy in; easy out. Plenty of nearby parking. Sat in balcony AA11. View and sound were nice. Did not have to stand in line longer than 3 minutes.

Review №87

Love this place ..always have , always will xoxo Been going here for a very long time. Always feels amazing.

Review №88

This is literally a crossroads of culture where fine arts meets performances in concerts. Its a phenomenal place a phenomenal organization and a lot of fun if you get invited to a private party. I really love the stress on her from plays the concerts to gluten-free food. It really is a blast five stars!

Review №89

We always love to see shows here. It is like a taste of Broadway right here at home!

Review №90

Went for a kid live show it was fun! We sat in the gallery which is all the way at the top. Drinks & snacks are in the 1st floor so if you plan on taking elevator plan accordingly. It is best if you arrive early so you can get any memorabilia, food & drinks then head to seat because you will have to wait for elevator. You do not want to have to climb stairs it will tire you out lol

Review №91

Not a bad seat there! Anastasia was incredible. What a venue easy to park and get around. Excellent service convenient refreshments.

Review №92

It’s a great place to see a show. There’s a lot of variety from plays, music, to standup comedy.

Review №93

I took my class to see the Youth Orchestra. They had a great time.

Review №94

I was at Straz performing art center a few times and I always love it. Beautiful out door with water fountain and great view of Hillsborough river. Theaters with comfortable seating and amazing sound. They always have great show like orchestra, musicial shows and specially Broadway. Easy parking and sky walk through from parking garage to the theater. I watched the Phantom of the Opera last night and it was amazing. And I felt appreciate that when I saw the sign language interpreters so everyone can enjoy the show. Coming early 30-45’ for parking and enjoy the time with some drink before the show because the door will close after show starts and they don’t let you in until break time( it used to be) but last night I saw they made some exceptions, a little annoying and distracting so I hope next time everyone will be come on time.

Review №95

Went for VueConfUs and it was great. The staff was great, the conference was very well put together. The lunch definitely didnt disappoint. Once of the best experiences. The theatre was roomy, had good audio, and fit all of us. WiFi wasnt quite sufficient for all the developers in the room but it didnt present most speakers from using their laptops.

Review №96

Great venue, helpful staff, fantastic performances. Cant go wrong at the Straz

Review №97

Its a good venue for the event I attended. However, parking was a nightmare even I had prepaid parking permit with me. It took over 20 minutes to get in the garage on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily we still made it on time to our show.

Review №98

Great shows and family oriented

Review №99

Nice facility. Many venues. Valet parking is super! It was easy to find off of 275, and easy access back on.

Review №100

The Center is great. Parking and the traffic getting to the parking venues are horrible. Once they figure out a better way to control both the parking and the traffic, things will be better. When this will happen is anyones guess.
