Nice little park with several paved trails. Some garbage off the main trails which is obvious remnants of homeless encampments but no one seems to be currently living here. Bonus- after noon (ish) there are several parking spots in deep shade. There are signs which warn of video surveillance in the parking lot but thats not a bad thing, per se, right? I mean, women like me do get assaulted in public parks so if they wanna have cameras, more power to em. Ive driven by here bunches of times but this is my first visit. It will absolutely not be my last either! This one would be especially good to walk a dog in.

Beautiful wetlands, but a little “sketchy”This small neighborhood park has a inspiring backstory: it started out as a dumping ground for the Tacoma School District and construction waste from nearby highway 16, until neighbors campaigned and raised money to turn it into a public park in the 1970s. Neighbors gathered once again in 1990 to expand the park in order to protect precious wetland habitat from development.Unfortunately, this park is in need of another resurrection. After many of the initial facilities (play equipment, tennis courts, bathrooms and a wading pool) had gone to pot they were demolished rather than being updated. As a result, this is a bare bones park with a nature trail, a couple benches, and a field at the North end. The trails are well-maintained but I would be cautious traveling them with small children or by yourself as even during the daytime there are homeless people about. When I visited a man was gracious enough to warn me about a nude guy strutting his stuff down the path. That being said, (if you’re comfortable) I would encourage locals to use the park, if for no other reason than to discourage crime.Parking is easy as long as you find the right entrance. For some reason, google maps directed me down into a neighborhood to a dead end. There is a clearly marked entrance next to DeLong elementary school off of 12th St. Alternately, you could park at the Fred Meyers to the south of the park.

This is an amazing park to go to. Between the great scenery, while youre walking down the peaceful trails to the stop spots to just be able to take minute and breathe. This park is a fun park to even take your family to or have a soccer game on the spacious field.

This is not a park for families. This is a GAY CRUISING AREA. Look it up online if you think Im kidding. Or, if youre brave or a Geocacher, go see for yourself. Youve been warned.

Al

Used to live in the houses near the start of the trail. Beautiful in the fall and spring, heed my warning and do not allow young children to walk the trail alone as it is still dangerous and many drug users use the out of the way trails to use drugs and do other unsavory things.

Its a sad state of affairs after all the time and resources thatve been expended over the years to create the park, but once again the native plants along the path between 12th and 19th are being overwhelmed by English Ivy and litter is all too present.

This park could REALLY use some help! Although, I was born and raised in Tacoma, this was the first time I have been here.Lots of trash: empty beer cans in places. Appears to have several homeless encampments. I wouldnt let my kids roam this park unaccompanied by a responsible adult!

Nice park but not for everyone. This park offers great walks filled with wild berries. Enough open space to throw a ball for a dog or host a small pickup game of soccer, but no true open flat fields for free play. An acceptable place to visit, but far better options exist very close, such a Point Defiance Park.

It is a nice, small neighborhood park. 1 gym, 1 pokestop. Walking trail is longer than it looks. Shaded walking trail and field are pretty much all it has, most of the trail is gravel. No play equipment for kids. Lots of daytime drug use here and somewhat shady people hanging around on the trail. Needles and stuff can be found lying around.
