This park is on The smaller side but has a lot of really wide open scenic views of the Thea Foss waterway and some really nice landscape and decor, the only major downside is it can be be quite noisy from nearby traffic. Its a scenic park for walks or enjoying the view so there is no jungle gyms or ball fields/basketball courts etc.

This is a small park but it is scenic and well done. We were taking senior pictures and this provided a great setting. Its a shame people wont pick up their trash but its not the parks fault.

Beautiful. There was am authentic Chinese structure there, 2 naval ships, and the Bridge of Pearls is just lovely. Not too peaceful with all the traffic and trains, and all the trash is just sad, but its truly a beautiful place full of important history.

This park was great. The concept of reminding us of our past transgressions packaged in an educational and beautiful setting is awesome. It encourages people to spend time there, and reminds us of our shameful treatment of Chinese Immigrants in the late 19th Century at the same time. It is a great place to be as a park and get educated about our history at the same time. Glad I took the detour to get there.

Beautiful. Enchanting. Hidden in plain sight. Weve driven by countless times but never stopped. Easy parking. The description tells us it was made to promote a deep sense of Peace, Healing and Reconciliation. Indeed, this was a step away from the world... just steps away from the world! A note about safety, I would not consider going after sunset.

What a unique honor to go to a site that reconciles a community with its past when, as in this case, something very unfortunate had happened. Thanks, Tacoma and your Sister City, Fuzhou, China for showing us that there really can be Peace Through People. This is definitely a site worth visiting.

Extremely moving. The signage and stone monuments provided a detailed and emotional window into actual documents of a night of broken glass period targeting Chinese immigrants. My parents encountered the park as they noticed something new on a walk along the Tacoma waterfront. They talked about it multiple times until they could take me there, and the impact was not lessened by my former knowledge. This place is just - wow.

Very nice park with a Pagoda. There is a gravel path and reader boards giving history and information. There is a cool white wooden bridge that goes over a cove. When the tide is low you are able to look at the cool rocks. This park is located just as you go over the over pass to Ruston Way, so you must make a left into the parking area before the signal and back track along the railroad tracks to the parks parking lot. There are no bathrooms here, but there are some close by. Enjoy the views of the bay from the benches located on the trail.

A great piece of Tacoma history that should never be forgotten. A great reminder of how valuable immigrant populations have been downtrodden and cast out. of course set in a beautiful location on the Tacoma waterfront. One of my favorite places to go when I just need a day at the ocean.

The true history of the Chinese and what happened to them needs to be told and the individuals honored for what they suffered through. This park gives them a small amount of honor and respect.

Inspiring place, an effort to remember and provide some solace for the egregious eviction of Chinese labourers in the 19th century. They had toiled in the gold mines but were summarily ejected when difficult times set in, purely racist.

La
Review №75

Small park with minimalistic landscaping, attractive Chinese architecture, some beach access thats interesting at low tide, and a few benches with so-so waterfront views. Its not Tacomas biggest effort, but definitely a must-read: following the meandering path through the parks features, visitors are confronted with signs sharing Tacomas dark history of Chinese Exclusion. Its a sad tale, and photos of burning waterfront shacks and historical documents supplement the narrative.

The efforts of the Chinese Reconciliation Project are simply outstanding. Combining support from Tacomas Sister City Fuzhou, and local citizens the fabulous Chinese Reconciliation Park was created at 1741 N. Schuster Parkway. The foundation continues to encourage recognition of both Asian and all other immigrants into our welcoming community.
