We visited the Carriage Museum and the children had so much fun they were able to see and learn so much about the history of carriages. So rich in history. Highly suggested.

The largest carriage collection in the whole country with over 110 carriages?!? From the looks of it, I have to agree! Was a really cool place to visit!

Its a great place to spend an afternoon at. It feels like no one talks about this place much. The carriage museum is an interesting glimpse of americas early transportation.

Awesome museum. Great place to bring your child. Very peaceful and quiet. They also have a bunch of old building on the property and an art museum. Love this place.

What a great little gem. The museum is bigger than it appears from the outside. A lot of nice carriages and sleds. Brought my 3 year old son and he lived it. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys looking at a piece of 1800/1900 history

What a Hidden Gem. This is the most extensive Carriage collection I have ever seen!!! We definitely needed more time than what we had allotted to see all that they had in this Museum. This is definitely worth seeing, if youre in the little town of Stony Brook.

The Carriage Museum is one of the best local museums. The displays are in pristine condition and they extend from the most formal to those used by the common people. This must not be missed

There is a freakishly huge collection of exquisitely preserved and restored carriages here. All on display in what was originally a supervillains secret lair. Or a CIA black ops training center. Seriously, beneath what looks like a 200yr old dilapidated barn is a three story concrete attrium that I can only assume was home to a stolen russian icbm. Or a moon laser. Oh and the bathrooms are nice.

Such a huge assortment of horse-drawn carriages. Many are set in large diorama exhibits, with soundscapes. Press a button, listen to the ambient sound surrounding you, and it is fairly easy to be transported back in time.Make sure you plan ahead, because the exhibit space (located directly behind the ticket office on Route 25 A) is used for some very in depth studies of local history. Photos, paintings, etchings, artifacts... I believe that these are mostly private collections that arent shown anywhere else.Leave yourself plenty of time to visit - at least two hours - or youll miss a great deal of what they have to offer.
