Absolutely stunning views and excellent day hiking options. Lots of different trails to take depending on how long youd like to hike and how difficult youd like the hike to be. Nothing crazy, but a few rocky areas and rappelling opportunities to complement the easy trails. You can view a trail map on the website.
A very beautiful place. Highly recommend if youre new to the area and looking for places to waddle. Ive personally found that all trails are marked well. Wrights tower has a nice view of the city and is only half a mile from South Border. Bear Hill Tower is about a mile from Sheepfold parking lot with great views of the Fells.
Its a pretty big place and all the different ecosystems were pretty cool. I walked the orange trail mostly and it took me 2 and a half to 3 hours to walk (was ill equipped with running shoes). It was pretty peaceful- I mostly was listening to an intro to nutrition course by Berkeley or the origin of good and evil by Nietzsche. I recommend getting there early for parking.
This is a very nice little park with a playground and hiking trails in a scenic area. Good picnic spot.
It is a great place very close to Boston. It is a must go place. Very clean, natural and protected. Recommend for family, training, hiking and friends
Beautiful park for an afternoon of exercise, picnic, or photography. Make sure to bring bug repellent and be prepared to sweat. Trails are in good shape for the most part but some of them are muddy. Dont wander off trail as its easy to get lost and not easy to walk through. Go in with plenty of time since its pretty big and theres lots to see!
Good recreational place. Finding parking could be a challenge, especially during the weekends. We started at one place but it was a bit difficult to get back to the parking spot.
My Saturdays involve this place. Me and my dog Bonnie enjoy hiking the trails and occasionally playing fetch in the water. Shhh dont tell anyone...

A magical place! Sat in the shade of the trees by the fountain for a socially distanced picnic and enjoyed the views. Stairs up & down are no joke though, didnt come for a workout, but got one anyway!
Absolutely amazing place to go for a hike. Really easy to get from downtown through the orange line. A beautiful, largely untouched natural reserve with lots of trees and miles of trails.
Lots of fun. Red trail - Crystal Springs - blocked by a fallen tree. Easy parking. Please stripe the parking areas. Great place.
The Resevoir Trail is about 4 miles and rated as moderate on AllTrails. Walking around the Middle Resevoir is beautiful and relatively easy to follow. Its well marked for most of the trail but we referred to google maps often to make sure we were following the right way. We definitely recommend this trail!
The trails are easy to follow and are very beautiful. The views are spectacular and if youre lucky, you might spot the lil creatures around !!!
Beautiful place to hike. There are a variety of trails, many of which are very doable for beginner/occasional hikers/meanderers
The Fells is an excellent place to get your fix of nature, right smack in the middle of the suburbs. The area is enormous, and there are many paths spanning miles. You can really think of it as a connected set of individual loops, since its way too big to be done all at once. Whatever kind of walk youre in the mood for, there will be a place you can park to reach it. Great for dogs, kids and adults.
Beutifule place nice trails and great dogs off-leash park
Best place for trail running in the Boston area. Very dense network of trails means you can explore new trails all the time and never feel like youre repeating a run. Trails vary from smooth sailing to very technical rocky trails. Plus the views of the area are amazing!
Lovely spacious well marked trails if you have a map. Internet signal strong. Clean, green and early a.m. sparsely used before 8:30 a.m. even on a holiday.
The Fells is great for easy access hiking near Boston. There are lots of hiking and biking trails along with fishing and dog parks. However, there isnt enough parking. The lots surrounding the Fells fill up early and there just arent enough spots. Itd be nice if several lots were expanded to hold more than 10-20 cars.
It was very quiet and smelled of pine. There were very few people walking the path so we were able to take off our masks most of the time. We also walked down to the reservoir which was so serene.
Love this kind of places, and this one in particular have several spots to sit and escape for a moment looking the horizon while seat next to the water. I also did the boating and is really entertaining! (Bring a lot of sun screen)
Great urban oasis for trail running. Can be a little crowded, but the steeper trails like Skyline are usually fine.
Nice place to walk with good parking. My dog especially loved it!!
The Rock Circuit trail was awesome. Lots of elevation and cool obstacles to get around. Kept us engaged and alert while spending an amazing day outside.
Great as always! Especially at sunset
This park is directly on Route 28, so it is super convenient for me to ride to on my bike, which is a huge plus for me. I love this park so much. It has a lot of Industrial Revolution-era remnants, such as an old mine, and some of the main trails are actually based on the old railroad tracks that once passed through the area. A beautiful field for keeping the kids (or dogs) busy running about there. There are quite a few scenic bodies of water to look over in awe at the beauty. There are also several trails for mountain bikes, and hiking trails galore. Wrights Tower, on the southernmost sector of the reservation, is a tall rock tower that gives visitors a tremendous view of the beautiful and majestic city of Boston. Wrights Pond is a recreational swimming area, but you must pay a fee to enter, if I am not mistaken.
This is a wonderful place to walk and explore. About half the people we met were wearing masks. All kept safe distance.
Best place for chill hikes/walks. Love coming here with my family.
Very nice loop that runs along the pond/lake and zoo. You can walk through the woods or outside on walking path. It is very pretty. Take out 3-4 hours to finish the whole loop.
Beautiful park. Several trails, many of which cross roads to other parts of the park. Really nice near the water.
Dog friendly. Great space to hike.
I love the Fells so much! Great place to bike, ski, run, walk, picnic, explore with kids!I’ve seen all kinds of animals over years and enjoyed hikes with Friends of the Fells (Babes in the Woods hikes for moms with babies, hikes for all ages with Boot Boutwell).Lately my son has been enjoying mountain biking.
Beautiful place to sit and relax!! And also if you prefer a nice walk! Parking can be found here weekends can get crowded!
To get away from hustle and bustle, and simply breathe some good air, this is your spot. Good for daytime hikes and bikes. Also, dog heaven.
Well maintained woodland trails, many running along fresh water reservoirs. Lots of varied terrain to choose from. Amazing hiking so close to Boston!
Amazing place for quick and short hikes. Offers brilliant views of the Middlesex reservoirs and Boston skyline
MY FAVE PLACE Oakdale Park & My Special place there Shadows Peak 2 2 2
Beautiful scenes. Cute islands to kayak to. Right near the stone zoo as well. So many things to do and trails to walk. Sometimes its nice just to hike through the woods and sit on a rock by the water. Maybe even fish? Idk, havent tried yet. 13/10 would def recommend to all nature lovers. So many different wild animals around as well!
A paradise in Boston. The three lakes offer great views during trekking. Tracks are not well tended or good signs to remind where you are going, so be prepared to get lost or kearn to use your mobile phones GPS.
It is hard to find parking on weekends but still the best place to hike or stroll with your dog.
Clearly marked paths. Fun playground
Lovely shaded walk in the Fells. Nice trail options depending on hiking level.
Quiet, close to the city, short, well-marked hikes.
One of my favorite spots to go for a walk. Fall vibes are definitely here!
Nice for a brisk walk or a jog. Not too many people about. You wont find a food place or a restroom close by either.
Good trails and a nice place to visit, especially with our social distance priorities.
Great hike and not too difficult. Trails are decently marked but you need to pay attention.
A little hard to find is all but other than that its a great place to go hiking with family or friends
A great place to go to refresh your brain. Clean air and great view!
Hiked Crystal Springs. Barely saw anyone else on the path, but we couldnt escape the car noises the entire time.
Lovely, easy to walk trails. Not too many people. Beautiful pond
Great outdoor hike near Boston
This reservation is amazing! It has so many hiking trails for families, amateurs, pros and hiking fans!In the spring/summer there are boats available for rent at the lake.I’ve visited the reservation in fall and winter and it is breathtakingly beautiful.I totally recommend!
It’s hard to park there, but it has many trails. I recommend the white lined trail. Beautiful views!
Always a great place to bring your dog or go for a walk.I wish the place had a better place to throw away the doggy bags as they always pile up next to the trees.I understand there is a dumpster, but it’s about 100 yard and no ones leaves half way through to throw it way.Amazing trails. Dead need to get there early on the weekends to secure a spot
Miles and miles of great mountain biking, hiking, or just family walking trails. Parking can get tight so have a backup parking lot scouted out, luckily theyre all pretty close to one another
I love this place to do biking and hiking
Beautiful state park sound 9 miles away from Boston. There are many hiking trails which are fun and adventurous. Very well maintained. had the best time with friends.Kayak rentals are also available .
Hiking for starters can be done here. Thanks to Google, there is detail of trails when you use maps. I wonder if you can go on days after it has snowed...
A good place to relax in the fall. Good for biking and hiking, there are some boats you could rent with family. Wonderful weekend destination!
Beautiful place to visit, visiting on weekdays is great for relaxing and having a moment with nature. Only problem is there is barely any signs for the trails so it was hard to follow, eventually we had to go back as there was a storm a day before and the trees fell so we couldnt walk any further.
If you are visiting from out of town it’s a must to check in Fells Reservation. It’s about 20 minutes from Boston/Cambridge. Huge green area with diverse natural sights varies from green trails, ponds, rocks and field. It has multiple trails for hiking and running. I live close by and I come every week and every time I discover something new.
Great variety of terrain ponds vegetation lakes and trails. Many deer.
This is such a nice place to get away and enjoy some quiet time. There are many great trails for some long walks in the woods. I was just there last week. It was pretty chilly. So there weren’t a lot of people. I’m sure it must get busy in the warm weather. Definitely worth exploring.
Great early fall walk, lots of sunshine and dry crispy weather, could not be better than that!
Beautiful park, I look forward to returning here soon
It’s beautiful here and I love walking my dog here! Can get a little crowded though!
Nice place to hike... tourist attractions place....Best time December.
Good place to hike with family .
Zoo lights are Amazing fun family outing..Zoo Safari well done .
Lots ot tress alone the side walk. Nice place to walk on a hot sunny day. You get a lot of cover from the tress.
Good trails near to the city. Skyline trail is the longest. Its moderately difficult. Good workout on a Sunday afternoon. The trail is about 6 miles and average it would take around 6 hours to complete. Its the second best next to the blue hills reservation. There are other easy trails as well as mountain bike trails.
I drive a lot for work. But I always enjoy the scenery when I pass through here.
Beautiful place to take off your mask and breath the fresh air.
Amazing atmosphere, clean air, great views. Perfect for a dog walk with that special someone, the dog I mean.
Beautiful park, it has multiple areas where you can visit and never ending trails. Perfect for afterwork, weekends, or if you just need to be out doors. The scenery in each section all has its beauties!
My dog loves it here. Parking can be a pain though...
Nice park. Lots of trails and nice scenery
Kayaking, sailing. Walking. Nice clean place for a walk
A nice place to go for a walk, rest or go fishing and if you love rowing you can rent a kayak and enjoy a walk in the lake. regards
This place is beautiful, easy hike for kids and cool trail bikes for teens!
Awesome park for hiking, photos, kayaking, etc. Not too far from downtown Boston this green reserve is the ideal place for a stroll in the nature without having to go too far from town!
Great place to unwind and enjoy fresh air.
Wouldnt call this the best hike or anything. But its a cool place to walk. Great dog park!
Spot Pond is gorgeous! The kayak rental stand had online reservations and was pretty hassle-free.
Nice place to walk and hike. Peacefull
Easy walking or chalenging, you pick.
A great deal of trails and sights to take in. Very clean and well kept. The reservation is vast so there is plenty of space to accomodate large numbers of people. If you want a nice, quiet walk in the woods you can easily get deep enough into the woods to escape the noise of the city.
So gorgeous! Great variety of trails to choose from. Only complaint is that you can hear the highway throughout the park but thats no biggie. The trails are naturalistic sometimes and wide and well Kempt others, its very nice. The view from Wrights tower gets 5 stars all its own! 4 overall
Decent place for some hiking, biking, and trail running inside the route 95 belt.
Beautiful trails and views. Medium intensity hike
A relaxing place with beautiful lakes and trails in sub urban area of Boston! Good for friends and families or yourself escaping from busy city life!
Beautiful place. Easy to walk or bike, tons of dogs running around, scenic spots with multiple reservoirs & boston view.
