This is the place to go to learn about fire lookouts, the folks who staff them, and the history of fire lookouts in general. Ray Kresek is the proprietor and owner, and is very knowledgeable about all things lookout. Maybe the largest Smokey the Bear collection in the U.S. if not the world. Antique lookout cab at the museum shows the old-style manned lookout without sleeping area (would have had a ground cabin for lookout quarters). Ask about the Forest Fire Lookout Association and the Friends of Blue Mountains Lookouts. They are actively supporting the restoration and preservation of historic lookouts, ground cabins, and guard stations in our National Forests alongside the Forest Service.

Love going to visit with Ray. Each piece of the museum has a story and Ray is only happy when he has an audience to tell those stories to.

Loved it. Yes, its just a transformed back yard, but its yard turned into a micro-forest, complete with a lookout tower. A former fire fighter, Ray is a wealth of information. I loved his collection in his basement.
