I was tattooed by Amanda and she did an amazing job!! Her line work is incredible and she was super patient and listened to my preferences and all that. Professional, clean, and amazingly talented. Would get another tattoo from her in a heartbeat. Her color work and shading work is incredible as well!!! It was my first tattoo and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Ive gotten pieces by both Rachel and Dan and they are amazing, location is really clean and they have been taking great precautions during the pandemic. Highly recommend this shop to anyone who may be nervous ab getting their first tattoo as well as someone on their 20th.

Got piercings done with Emmi and she was awesome. The shop was very clean and all the artists were professional and polite. They had a big selection of earrings to pick from and they were reasonably priced. The piercing room was separate from the main tattoo room and it had an autoclave which all the instruments came directly out of. The piercings were quick and painless and Emmi took her time measuring them out to be even. I couldn’t be happier with the way they came out, they look just like the pictures I showed her.

Got a tiny tattoo on my thumb that probably took about 45 seconds to do and was charged $100 because apparently there is a minimum charge, which is understandable but would be nice to know beforehand so i could add another tattoo that adds up to the minimum, must be nice to get paid 100 bucks for 2 mins of work

I had a piercing appointment the other day with Alexandra. She was very knowledgeable and so sweet, she also took her time with me and cleaning everything. I came there for a flat piercing and for new jewelry for my lobe piercings. The jewelry display is beautiful, everyone in the shop was so welcoming, i went on my birthday as a present to myself. Everyone there wished me a happy birthday. Would definitely come back for my piercing and tattoo needs.

Went here for my first peircing my belly button. I was very VERY nervous and ususally pass out when I get any kind of needle in my body. Emmi did my piercing and she was SO awesome she helped me stay so calm and I didn’t even realize when she put the needle through. 10/10 reccomend her and the peircing came out awesome!!! Loved them there they were also all very sweet when I went there

I highly recommend Mikey Tubs for any type of tattoo you’re looking for. I had a few tattoos before I found him and he’s done every piece on me since. Very quick but detailed and solid work. He’s done almost an entire sleeve on me and some other work. 100% recommend and wouldn’t get tattoo’d buy anyone but him.

Got my first tatoo today at the age if 57! It couldnt have gone better! From the minute I walked in, I was impressed by the artwork, cleanliness and friendly staff . Mike (Mikey Tubs) listened to what I wanted and came up with the perfect design. Really nice guy. Talked to my husband and I through the whole process and made me feel very comfortable. I called to find out if a piercer was working and the gentleman who answered the phone was super nice.Walking in to authentic arts Was immediately appealing very clean very together and being somebody who has over 50 tattoos I look at everything when I go into a studio. Emmi is the young woman who was taking care of my daughter she wanted an industrial piercing. Not only did Emmi take the time to examine her ears but she explained why that piercing wouldnt fit right (small ears). She could have done it and just took the money. I appreciated her vision and she gave my daughter a very nice cartilage stud. I was beyond happy with our service. We will be back . Thank you Emmi

This place has amazing customer service! I go to school at Stony Brook University, but I live in Chicago. While at school I came here to get a cartilage piercing. When it was time to put in a shorter bar, I was in Chicago for the summer, so I went to a place in Chicago to have this done. When they took my earring out they said that the screw was stripped and that they couldn’t put it back on. They put in a placeholder to keep the piercing open and sent me on my way. I called Authentic Arts and explained the situation. Even though they weren’t the ones to ruin my earring they not only offered to replace it but offered to order a similar one from a more expensive company to ensure that this didn’t happen again. I was amazed that they were willing to do all of this for free when they weren’t the ones to remove the piercing in the first place. I just went last night to have the new earring put in and it is beautiful. I am so happy with Authentic Arts and would definitely recommend.

I have been tattooed by Jay several times and I LOVE the work he does. He had fixed two tattoos of mine that I had gotten in the past and now I love showing them off. I went in today to get a nose piercing. Alexandra was amazing, so professional and friendly. I was nervous and she put me at ease. I chose this shop randomly based on other reviews as I do not live around there and just happened to be in the area, and I’m so glad I did. I love my new piercing and definitely plan on coming back for a tattoo.

Been going to Authentic Arts for two years now. I have gotten three tattoos done by Tommy and they all healed and came out amazing... more than I imagined. I love how comfortable and relaxed they make you feel. Tommy always keeps conversation going during the tattooing process. Everyone is super chill and welcoming every time I come in. I also had an issue with my nipple piercing (which was from another shop) and the two piercers at Authentic Arts were extremely helpful with my piercing. They extended my bars for me, gave me tips on how to help it heal and what products to use. Super friendly and made me feel so comfortable when they were changing my bars. 100% recommend anyone to go get tattooed or pierced at Authentic Arts. Favorite shop!!!

So it was my first tattoo. Annabelle is the artist. She worked with me for a long time on the actual design. She made sure I absolutely loved everything about it and where I wanted it. It hurt a lot and for my first tattoo, I probably squirmed around a bit. But she did a perfect job anyways. It was kinda big, so she did the outline in one session and then the shading in another. And the shading just blew me away. Better then I could have expected. Ill be setting up another appointment this fall for number 2!

I wish i could give 100 stars. After trouble w another tattoo artist from another shop...dan kollmer gave me the absolute best tattoo. He did a portrait of my deceased son. The tattoo came out phenomenal. Brought me to tears. I cant thank dan enough for my beautiful tattoo. He is one talented tattoo artist. So kind and gentle and truely cared about what this tattoo meant. His method was gentle. Didnt even feel like i was getting tatted. The place was clean and price was right. I couldnt be any happier. Thanks again w all my heart. I will be back.

Authentic arts is always my go to place for tattoos, so far I’ve gotten 4 from there and theyre really chill people and they actually make me feel comfortable. All of the artist are equally amazing and thomas will now be my go to for now on. I know some people think they’re pricey but at least the work comes out amazing and thats all that matters.

Got my tattoo last September.The people were really nice. But the pricing is insane. I got an outline of a tiny heart, less than an inch in length and width, and it costed $100 (the guy gave me a discount since the normal minimum price is a whopping $120). I mean, the thing wasnt even filled in! I took care of it, following their instructions to a T, but the end result was disappointing. The ink bled, so the lines are blurry. Also the outline is uneven, so theres one spot where the line is NOTICEABLY thinner.

He had respect for the original artist before him and was excited to re do them for me. From the consultation process through the actual tattooing process I felt extremely comfortable and well taken care of. Tommy did an amazing job turning my ideas and vision into reality, art that I enjoy seeing on my body. It started with a C-section scar; I hated the way it and the way the skin around it looked. The scar will always be there, but now all I see is a beautiful design with flowers and scroll work.I loved the way it came out and how it made me feel so much I decided to have him design a tattoo for my leg. They both perfectly represent exactly what I wanted, the images are clear and all flow together. The lines are perfect and the detail is incredible, even the smallest parts of the bird’s face and feathers are distinct and well defined.If you have an idea for a tattoo and want to work with an artist to turn that into reality, I highly recommend visiting Tommy!

I wanted a tattoo and went in Authentic Arts off of a friends referral. What a mistake. The guy in charge Tom was really unfriendly and made me uncomfortable. I was already nervous getting my first tattoo, so his rugged attitude didnt help. I went elsewhere instead and am happy.

Good, clean shop with excellent and professional artists

I went to get a tattoo from Tommy and it was an experience Ill regret for the rest of my life. He seriously messed it up. Its bad enough he talks too much during the job, but he also rushes big time. Hes very unapproachable and has a crappy attitude (hes clearly emotionally unstable and throws fits no matter how nice you are). He couldnt care less about the grief hes caused me. Trust me, there are better artists in the area.

So far Ive gotten 3 tattoos from Authentic Arts. My 1st ever tattoo was done by the owner Tommy about 2 years ago, a large black deathbat on my chest. It turned out fantastic, exactly what I wanted! My 2nd visit I got a blue jay feather on my right forearm about a year and a half ago, it turned out okay but could have been better, I dont remember the artists name but I do know he no longer works there. My 3rd tattoo was a red feather on my left forearm about 8 months ago, it was done by Sebastian. WOW, thats all I have to say. It turned out amazingly well! The mans a fantastic artist, I brought in a reference photo on my phone and he did the tattoo based right off of that, no stencil. I was VERY impressed with the work!The shop itself has been clean every time Ive gone in, the owner and staff are friendly and they take a lot of pride in their work and their shop. The decor is really nice too. Top notch shop! I will definitely be going back to them for more! Highly recommended, but I do wish they would update their website to show their more recent work, their facebook page is way more useful than the official website.
