I bring my pug to this park he loves it! My husband and I recently moved to Evanston, we discovered this park that’s only 5 min drive away. This is great for a high energy pup who is cooped up in a apartment. It’s very well kept and clean. We paid $45 for a year membership.

Huge and multifaceted park perfect for all kinds of pooches and the people who love them! Area for agility training could use some repairs and upkeep, but it’s still a nice feature. Lots of garbage cans and poop bags distributed throughout the park and at the entrances. (Would be better if visitors would be more conscientious about using them, but that’s not the fault of the park.) Tons of bushy areas great for the hunting breeds to explore and a large enclosed area for puppies and smaller breeds to play safely away from the big boys/girls. Park benches and tables aplenty, but no human food allowed — for the safety of dogs and humans alike — so don’t plan to bring a picnic. Plenty of parking on the north and south sides of the park (Main and Oakton entrances) and the Oakton side has restrooms and water fountains.Park is serviced on Wednesdays, when the gates are locked starting between 12:30 and 1:00 and unlocked between 1:30 and 2:00. (Start/stop times for locking up depend on when the groundskeepers, garbage truck, and mowers arrive.)

Pooch park is amazing, it is huge, a lot of place for your dog to run, play with other dogs. Has also a are for agility training and an area separate for small dogs. You need to be member and it costs $45 per year.

Holy smokes, this place is huge! Had great conversation with everyone that came in, our pit boxer made tons of friends, they have separate gated areas to keep edgy dog owners in their spaces. And Ive never seen a park so open that one length left our pup breathless.

Pooch Park is multiple acres of well-fenced space for dogs to run. The owners typically seem attentive. Membership is $45 for a full year.

Nice place with a decent amount of trees along with a few shaded areas to sit and enjoy your time outdoors. There IS a fee but reasonable- annually $45 for 1 dog $55 for two. Would recommend if you like to take your dog to a dog park, often.

They provide water bowls, little bags for accidents, and tennis balls to throw. The dog owners are very responsive and friendly. Very expansive fenced in area, even a separate fenced in area for smaller dogs.

Would be nice if they would turn the water on in the fountains, but its a pretty nice park. I didnt notice any kind of procedure to make sure dogs were immunized here... Be careful what you let your dog get into! My puppy picked up what was most likely parvovirus here a couple of weeks ago and got extremely sick for a while!Other than that, nice park! Lots of areas to take your dog and an obstacle course.

I love this place, but not as much as my bloodhound Roscoe does. It is roomy with seperate areas for smaller dogs and an agility course. It is generally well-maintained, but can be muddy after a big rain or during the spring thaw (but Skokie Park District has done a good job improving this). The people are friendly and the dogs are cute.

9th year here. Only place where my dog knows to poop. Except for weekends were here every evening. Seen most of it. Been bitten breaking up dog fights. Been pushed around breaking up people fights. At times its a lot like grammar school on the playground but what dog doesnt bring out the kid in you?

Nice park. Park District used to resod in the fall, butI feel since it is used right after it rains the main area has no grass and can be a mud pit they felt it was a losing battle. A real plus are the dog owners. They do watch their dogs and are self-policing and care about others dogs that they know as well. Weekday regulars especially. Weekends bring those who may not be quite as vigilant about watching their dogs and picking up after them. Evanston/Skokie parks district does a pretty good job maintaining the physical aspects of the park to make it a clean and structurally safe place for your dog. It would be very unreasonable to think that dogs would not have their rare, in my opinion, fights. When this occurs many dog owners will jump in regardless of their own safety to help. The small dog area helps to alleviate stress of the small dog owners that would prefer their dog not be around larger dogs. Overall, pretty well maintained. Conscientious owners (especially weekdays). Nice large area to run and get exercise. You cannot really expect more from a dog park. (To help alleviate the maintenance costs, there is a yearly fee-based pass that must be obtained to use the park. More info in park website. They do check passes many times so you feel that the money you pay is worth it)

No moderation or supervision. Not a safe place to walk non-fighting dogs.Today, my dog (among others) was attacked by an agressive dog in the Pooch Park. When I tried to defend my dog, the owner physically attacked me.We won’t be back, and won’t be renewing our membership.Unless your dog is strong and can defend itself against agression without your help, steer clear of this dog park.
