This park has potential, but theres usually quite a few homeless people stationed in or around the park. This is largely due to the neighboring church providing free meals and an urban rest stop which provides free showers, laundry, and bathrooms a block away. This makes the general area a hotspot for homelessness. Its not uncommon to walk by the park and someone is screaming at the unseen. The park itself has nice bones - manicured grass, public restroom, skateboard park, and water features, but these features are largely overshadowed by the homeless issue - which makes the park feel less leisurely. Again, the park has potential for a neighborhood park, but its not somewhere I recommend visiting.

Pretty nice skate park. Its a fun place to watch people who are really good at skating, have dinner, sleep, and smoke cigarettes. But last Saturday I was laying on a bench and got stabbed and my groceries and shopping cart stolen. Will return again just please work on that

There are way too many homeless people camped out. You have to constantly keep an eye on your car b/c they will walk back n forth until youre not paying attention. They are selling drug throughout the park, so its not safe to let your kids (or dogs) run around.

Its not usable to the general public due to the amount of homeless around the park. Should be torn down and zoned residential or something, the space is useless and dangerous as it is.

Its a Beautiful little Park. Im from Montana.Great Falls. We have nice parks, but not the Water Features quite like the ones here. Here you can play in the water, Its nice and Clean. My Grand Nephew who comes to Seattle for his Cancer center Treatments just Loves the water.. His Favorite park is the one at Seattle City Center. Where the Space Needle is. Last time he was here, had more fun and made a little friend his same age.Hard time getting him to go home for dinner.!! Anyways Landons favorite thing to do is to come over from Montana and play in the water. We Love Your Parks.!! Always clean. We even got to talk to the Homeless people who are down on there Luck.

The park is well designed, has a great location two blocks from a Market (main retail or Ballard) and a public library. The romantic idea of borrowing a book and reading while sitting in a park exist.Unfortunately the park is a constant place for folks down on their luck (homeless, drug ill, disabled) folk to loiter.

Ballard commons park is in some ways round, in others angular, and in some conditions another species entirely. The body fell completely into the smoothly curved pit that is constructed there, but it sustained no injury. The pit was ideal in that entering it is made to feel comforts, please excuse this language, much like those of the womb. It is wondered curiously if the experience is universal. The spraying feature was ideal in some ways as well. To cool the extremities it worked fantastically! It became saturated but this was of no consequence; It evaporated quickly.Overall it is thankful to Ballards contribution to pitting and smoothing in land. It was significant.

I grew up in Ballard (1973-1993) and the many things that have changed or been leveled for more apartments that I cant afford, those things make me feel like an unwelcome and illegal immigrant. and it also makes me so damn sad. but, this one change, this is an interesting & welcoming improvement! people of all colors and ages can come here to meet & play. I love the skate park, when I was a teen, they had nowhere to go, and got into a lot of trouble w he police. Love the water feature in the park too!

I was so impressed with the layout of the water fountain. Perfect location across from the library, connected to the skate park and lots of space to enjoy a picnic on the lawn. We had such an enjoyable afternoon with my granddaughter here as several families had gathered together while children and adults took advantage of the cool water on a hot, sunny day. So glad this park is located in our neighborhood. Great gathering spot for young and old alike!

Nice little park to walk. This area has been staked out by the homeless though. I wouldnt say its dangerous, except as a I white male I have the privilege of not feeling threatened when walking through an area like this at night. Public spaces where homeless people began to reside at can cause health and safety concerns. Im glad people have a place to be, but at the time of this post, I would say this area is more for Ballards homeless than the community at large.

Super adorable and fairly clean park. The last time I went there was a port-o-potty for public usage but it was absolutely disgusting. Either build a real public bathroom or dont build anything at all.But aside from that, it is well lit and pretty perfect for laying down and reading a book on a summers day.
