I love this place in the 1st avenue in SoDo Seattle. Plus, this is a well known pub because of their live bands events: Mother Love Bone, Nirvana, Alice in Chains to name a few played there. Its full of rock history, it still smells like grunge.

Dope place to stop in for a drink! You can feel the history to the place before you walk in, and the beer/liquor selection is solid. Wish I coulda caught a show here, Im willing to bet its a super fun experience.Sidenote: if the bartender I had wasnt on something then he is the perkiest person on earth...

This was only my 2nd time in. My 1st visit I felt so comfy in this 1800s saloon. I then decided that I would make it my sometime relax spot before catching the ferry, 5 min walk. Bartenders friendly as are the customers. Make a nice Long Island Iced Tea. :-)

Awesome local pub that is the water to the roots of the Seattle Sound. The Grunge revolution of the 90s. Nirvana played 2 songs here for a crowd of 3 including the bartender. They make us outsiders feel at home. I felt like I was in one of my beloved dive bars back home in Boston. A must see for some drinks and entertainment

I have been here many times over the years... to get hot dogs from out front!! A friend swears they have the best in city! No different imho than any other street vendors that serve typical Costco dogs... but still very good for cheap meal...Anyways, first time for a show for me here surprisingly. Saw ACTORS last night and was very impressed with this venue. Even though not my kind of music, but still hada great time.Good drinks, friendly staff, good sound, etc. Will definitely be back(inside) again soon!

This was the first bar my boyfriend too me to in Seattle. The drinks were priced great and made even better. I love it so much I got a tank top from there. The atmosphere very much fit with my more rockchick vibe but it was also just a really chill friendly place. Its history is wonderful too. Absolutely recommend checking it out.

One of the last quality bars in Seattle that is old school; modern bars feel the need to have this overdeveloped model akin to an applebees to appeal to people who have no business in the bar scene. This bar has a classic aesthetic which I greatly appreciate. Very fairly priced, quality beer on tap. Food is delicious and well made. Menu is not overly populated with too many options but at the same time not limiting. They have some awesome merchandise for purchase at a reasonable price. Staff is friendly, fun, talkative and helpful. I couldnt recommend this place enough.

Your standard dive bar, open when you need it, nice employees working there. I like the vibe here more than other bars mostly because the vibe of the people in here is normal (?) If that makes any sense. Sometimes late night drinking can lead to weird encounters, but so far so good at this place.

I had a very good local bourbon Woodenville I think and the bartender Ocea was amazing!! Pretty good hot dog place. Not the best Ive ever had, but good. I got the chicken apple Mediterranean dog, which was light and rather refreshing, in a Mediterranean sort of way.The place seems a little chaotic and cluttered and disorganized. The cashier/order taker kept fumbling around looking for things because the counter was such a mess.

Is this the oldest tavern in Seattle, or that other place, I dont know. If its the place Im thinking, just a short trip to the bathroom will take you back into the early days of Seattle. Or was it the other place? Both are around Pioneer Square, the one I speak of is closer to both the Smith Tower and the Space Needle.

Been going here sporadically for 17 years, has a good vibe, except when the sports fan crowd is here, it gets crowded and full of bros. Its just not my scene. I myself wouldnt go on a Friday or Saturday unless theres a band playing, cuz its a lot of that same bro crowd, with a trickle of people partying coming in from dance clubs.. if thats your thing, then have at it, I like it less busy. I believe they show games on TVs if youre looking for that. The employees are super cool, nice, and have great personality. This place has history, and its a good place to go sit outside and have a drink while watching the nightlife. Also has decent bar food. They give a lot of small bands without much of a following a chance to play, but also host indie bands that draw a crowd.

Olde time favorite bar. Formerly the Central Tavern in the 80s. A great music venue that played a significant role in the Seattle Music scene. Without venues like the Central, many local and up and coming bands would not have had a place to play and refine their art. Sooo many good times at this place.

Got the boot before we even ordered a drink! My cousin innocently reached back behind the bar for drink menu sitting there out in the open. Was confronted by bar tender coming out of back room...you dont go behind my bar!!...you need to leave!. We get it...should have waited for bartender but no bartender present and gross over reaction. Guess because theyre a cliche tour attraction they feel they can pick and choose their customers. Seattles other oldest bar Merchant Cafe, on the other hand, inviting friendly and accommodating.
