The valley and canyon views are expansive as you make your way up and down the cactus covered peaks. This is a great East Valley hike except...in a pandemic. The trail is well maintained but narrow, so social distancing can be difficult.

Awesome hike and views of phx on one side and fountain hills, 4 peaks on the other. You can get there from sunrise trailhead or lost dog trailhead. 6 miles round trip from lost dog trailhead.

Definitely a moderate hike, and windy at parts. The gate to the hike opens at 5:41am right now and you cant park outside of the gate. So if you want to catch the sunrise you have to hustle to make it to the top.

A favorite run or hike of mine on McDowell mountain. The trip up from Lost Dog is slightly longer, not as steep but rougher trail. The hike up from Sunrise is my favorite. Of there is time, heading out to Andrew Kinsey is very cool. Always amazing views and people are very nice.

Amazing views of the valley. Ascent is somewhat challenging however well worth the effort.

One of my favorite shorter hike / runs. ~6 mile round trip from Lost Dog and 4+ from Sunrise trailhead. Trail can be a little challenging, but is very well traveled. The view from Sunrise Peak is worth all the hard work to get there. Highly recommend this as a run a hike.

Beautiful! Incredible vistas and wild flowers. It took us 2 hours in and out from Sunrise trailhead to peak at a moderate pace.
