This unassuming art museum features exhibits of contemporary and historic works with an emphasis on Bay Area artists and I personally enjoyed the art displayed here much more than that of the San Jose Art Museum in downtown. Surprisingly, admission is free but donations are encouraged. The venue is gorgeous and almost every time Ive gone, typically the weekend, the courtyard was being prepared for a wedding. Theres an intimate atmosphere here and on one occasion, one of the artists whose work was being featured was present and shared an incredible story of the inspiration behind this pieces.
I went when the Triton Museum had a Sikh Art Exhibit and the art was so beautiful. There was also an amazing sculpture exhibit by an artist named Mendoza (pictures added). It is a smaller museum, but the art they put is so interesting & meaningful that you can take a bit of time looking at each one.
The Triton Museum, in Santa Clara, always has provocative artwork, often by local artists. It is a nice place to go when you dont want to spend all day at a museum - one could view all the exhibits in about an hour, and it is rarely crowded (unless there is a special event going on). There is no charge for admission. Parking is also free and close by. In addition to the indoor exhibits, there is an outdoor area with sculptures and grassy areas for a picnic on a nice day. It is a nice place to introduce children to art.
We came here to attend a friend’s wedding celebration. It had been years since we have been here - the grounds are beautiful and serene. The art galleries were thoughtfully planned as was the heart felt exhibit that depicted the plight of the immigrant children. It’s a wonderful venue for an intimate wedding or other gathering. I’ll have to make time to come again to enjoy more of the art exhibits.
I wasnt quite sure what to expect. I was trying to find places to visit in Santa Clara. My daughter wanted to visit a museum and found this. It looked small and read mixed reviews. My daughter and I took our time soaking in the exhibits. The first exhibit was modern art. I thought it was interesting. My daughter found it unnerving. The second exhibit were paintings. We both agreed that we liked the artists style. The last exhibit were a collection of photographs. We even ventured out in the garden to check out the various art sculptures. The best part is that they have free parking and free admission.
Cute little free museum in San Jose, free parking too! This museum is nice and has sculptures outside where you can walk. The smell of pines trees as you walk is awesome. They have nice exhibits, will be back! friendly staff, thanks
Very nice art museum, art is from local schools, good gift shop too, friendly staff
Really cool free museum in Santa Clara. Easy access by public transit. I came from palo alto and theres an express bus that will get you there in about an hour. This is a pretty small museum, 3 or 4 rooms. Lots of open space. Some nice information next to art that artist has for the viewer. Currently the restored pastorals are great to get lost in. Some contemporary stuff examining dichotomies and environmental quasi scientific mythos making. No lie.
The museum has lovely shaded grounds with art pieces scattered throughout. The building is compact, with an airy & well lit rotunda, and 3 separate rooms for displays. The docents have been unflaggingly courteous, & often also have a sense of humor. Ive visited several times, and enjoyed myself every time. The small classical music salons are beautifully played &/or sung, while both major art exhibits I saw were deeply thought-provoking. I highly recommend the Triton!
The Triton Museum is a free local museum that highlights mainly local artists. The galleries are small and there is not a lot on display at once but the overall quality is decent and its free. Definitely not worth coming here for a specific visit but worth taking a look if you happen to be in the area.
Always thought provoking art by local artists. I like the social justice topics explored through art.
Nice museum with free viewing
Nice seeing cool art work. Plenty of free parking. Lots of beautiful views
Lovely reception there for Life Services Alternstives (LSA). Clients sold their paintings, raised lots of money, Mitty High School volunteered to serve DELICIOUS appetizers, and they did an excellent job. Beautiful function for the Inclusion of Adults with Disabilities.
This museum has a great selection of a variety of artistic items. There are many events to enjoy and there is always a special exhibition. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The museum is a wonderful experience for visitors & locals. Dont miss the chance to see every artist interpretation
Always great exhibits from lesser known artists who are inspirational, provoking with their work and fortunately for us get a chance to show their skills and message.
Went to see outdoor art fair. Not too many artists displaying their works. Then entered the museum. Several large rooms featured singular works. Felt empty. Not much to see. Spent about 10 minutes there.
The staff here is very caring. They put you at ease the moment you step into the office.
Great museum with a large collection. If you are looking for perspective and inspiration, this is a good place to go. They also host a lot of events with different exhibits. Their collection includes art from a bunch of different artists, eras, and styles. Plus the art is well displayed and portrayed.
Exceptional sculpture exhibit by Hector Dionicio Mendoza.
Beautiful small jewel in the heart of Silicon Valley. Great space, great exhibitions. Highly recommended for people interested in local artists.
Beautiful space, but would love to see more variety in the artists who are featured there. Hoping they can expand/rotate their collection to broaden the appeal.
Very simple and sparse. 30% great and 70% not so much in my opinion. Both the pencil drawings and black/white photographs were exceptional.
Lovely place to visit. Bring the kids. Great art display. Clean .
I love taking walks here feels very safe!
Went to see an exhibit by Eduardo Carrillo (1937-1997), Mexican American spiritual-realism artist. Paintings and curation were amazing at the Triton Museum of Art (free admission). Very helpful and friendly staff. Plenty of parking.
One of the best local museums in the southbay.
Wonderful place to host a party!
Wonderful museum with many new, up-to-date exhibits, and many events, classes and workshops for kids and adults. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, lectures, classes, and workshops are the best.
A very nice place to see local srt
The museum has so much in itself. There are numerous exhibits and the staff is amazingly helpful. It is one of the best places for family outings as well as to take kids along. We usually go here for family outings.
Its very cozy and with nice exhibits. I went there for a jazz concert.
Nice space, thoughtful selection of works/artists and free to visit. I like that they present multi-media work and new artists.
We had our office holiday party at Triton museum. Its a very nice museum with great art pieces and a good hall for parties.
Great selection of art and friendly staff
Quiet interesting art. But the gem was the 5pc and 8 PC string symphony concert on Feb 16. Real gem of Mozart and Mendelssohn pieces.
This is my most favorite getaway. Its filled with art from our very own local artists, each piece come with its back story and each showcase always match the theme of the very talented artists presenting. Its a job profit museum and the people always display their heart and pride in their art.
To be honest, kind of a let down. I normally really enjoy art museums but this one was simply underwhelming. The selection of art was uninspiring, everyone and everything was over the top pretentious- almost felt like I was on the set of a movie.Tickets were waaaaaay to expensive for such a limited gallery. I don’t know maybe it was just the rotation of art work but I would just say skip it.
Interesting collections. Small but good gallery. Nice ground with a free bronzes. Want yo come back some Sunday and see the Warburton house
When I went it was free, and asked for a donation. It is a small museum. I thought it was well run and clean.
Great selection of artwork. The place is spacious and the staff are kind.
Great place. Some amazing art display. Very quite and secluded. Loved being here.
The museum contains art exhibitions from various artists. It is a small museum and all the art can be seen within 20 minutes.
Nice small museum! Always have new exhibitions.
I very much enjoyed the size of this art museum. It was perfect for what I looked for on this day.
This will be a regular place for me to bring people!
Triton Museum is a lovely building with well maintained grounds and out-buildings across Warburton from the Santa Clara City Hall. It is not owned or subsidized by the city. It is one of those rare gems that owns the property upon which it stands. As a consequence, it is a bit like Blanche DuBois - relying on the kindness of strangers, visitors, contributors, patrons of the arts, and likely some grants - in order to present the wonderful, interesting, educational, funky, intriguing, and fun exhibits it curates to the public. There is usually some class being offered - from drawing to art appreciation, as well as docent guided walks through the museum, coffee with the Curator one a month, the museum shop, and the information desk close to the entrance (help is always close!). Always cool inside on a hot day. Interesting acoustic properties in the rotunda. The cleanest bathrooms in the entire city! Courteous and respectul staff. Support the arts! Support your local museum! Have you gone there lately? Have you gone there at all? I bet your kids would love to go to the museum with you. Why dont you take them this weekend?
Oh my. This was an awful experience.
Was there as an artist for their midsummer festival.
Great exhibit. Not very crowded. Sculpture garden is lots of fun for kids
Pretty cool place but there were only 2 exhibits. Quaint but still interesting.
Breathtaking and scenic weddings are held here. The museum was a phenomenal place to gather.
What a great little museum! Glad we went
Great art exhibition
Quiet little gem. Check for exhibits before a visit. Beautiful surroundings. Serene.
Went here for a date with my girlfriend and it was awesome. $: free admission but donations gladly accepted. The museum even has a store, lots of handmade items.
Its less known place to anyone. A lot more can be done but it also is low profile place to maintain neighborhood silence. For artists its a good place for exhibition.
I should say it is too small. That’s why you can check its art pieces very fast :(
Nice park behind the museum. I really enjoyed the NFL set up they had during Superbowl 50.
Our family enjoy this small local art museum. Kids classes and camps are wonderful.
Small but clean and brightly lit museum with two medium sized rooms, one small room, and a lobby area where they display various artists. In early July, 2017, they had a focus on disabled artists; a few legally blind and soon to be totally blind. The museum is free and was very empty on a Saturday afternoon.
Great exhibition space in Santa Clara. Often overlooked but worth visit for contemporary art, mostly CA. Exhibits change regularly. Lots of diversity in curation. Good to explore.
Only just wish my dad would have been with us here, as he was always fun to bring to museums and would bring them to life for us
I love going here because the art is creative and definitely not crowded on the weekdays.
Ive been visiting Triton museum ever my mom moved into the area & have grown to love the history & art, in & around Triton museum grounds. From super bowls to auctions Triton museum delivers.
GOOD PREACHING 24/7/365 - KNVBC ️️️️️️
A very tranquil place with a lot of great local art and a wonderful outside atmosphere
The first museum I visited and its peaceful and beautiful. Well recommended.
I attended The Brandenburg Conciertos performance. Awesome place for art and classical music in a non-traditional venue.
Small and nice free art museum
One exhibit, nice venue but would be nice to see other exhibit with broader appeal.
Great experience! Lectures, classes, exhibits, and staff are magnificent.
Great place for special events!
Was there for a wedding
Beautiful art. And been there twice . Both times it was different
Always chaging experience with excellent showcase space and beautiful acoustics
A little known art treasure in the middle of Santa Clara; if you love art, and want to see the styles and subjects of local artists, Triton Museum makes for an illuminating venue.
An absolutely FABULOUS exibit that is on now, my advice is;. Dont miss it!!
This museum is free and open to the public they have new installations every 3 months
I literally grew up here as the child of a docent. The Triton museum is a true jewel, invaluable cultural resource and an especially pleasant place for an outdoor picnic. =^D
Very nice art pieces
Perfect place for a random and quiet weekend afternoon. Showings always rotate, so this place always feels fresh. PS: A LOT of Pokémon Stops and a Pokémon Gym are available around the area.
Nothing like a small hidden free art experience. Definitely worth a look
Small, but a great lazy day destination for anyone who appreciates art with stories.
Charming and thought-provoking. Go see it!
Beautiful setting. Great gift shop. Local artists.
Always interesting, not crowded. Beautiful grounds and excellent gift shop.
Small revolving collections are interesting and enlightening for short visits.
The outdoor grounds includes artwork. Nice place to relax.
This is a beautiful local museum.
I had some of my art when I was a kid there. Its free and a nice place
Nice location.. :-)
