Great place for a hike.. we have trails for different difficulty levels.. also theres a farm in the verbal ranch that kids would enjoy.. the restrooms are very neatly maintained and they are open until sunset.. they do not have dedicated parking but most of the nearby streets have parking..

Tucked away at the back of a residential neighborhood, with no signs indicating its presence until you arrive, this historical park is a hidden gem of South San Jose.Great for little ones, theres easy walking trails, chickens, ducks and turtles to see.For the adults, the informational exhibits tell the story of the Ohlone Indians and ranch life from the 1700s through today.José Bernal and his family converted this land from cattle ranch to orchards. The rich soil from the slaughtering grounds gave rise to the most prolific orchards in the region. Its always fascinating to learn about our local history!

I love this park. There are deer and bobcats. When you take the short walk to Dottie’s pond you can see turtles and ducks. If you want something more strenuous there are hiking trails. It’s peaceful and serene.

What a dramatic ascent from the parking lot! Well, not the basecamp at a foothill kind but good enough to get the heart pumping within a few hundred feet. Bonus points for decent views of San Jose from the top of the trail. The overhead power lines are a bit spooky though.

Bernal Ranch and Santa Teresa County Park have a little bit of everything. There is a historic ranch house and barn with chickens. One can take a very easy walk to the turtle pond or hike and or bike to the old Buck Norred Stables. Trails lead to the top of Santa Teresa Park and into Almaden Valley. During the rainy season you can hike to the water fall. On just about every visit expect to see some wild life, deer and turkeys are most common but I have seen coyotes, rattle snakes and bobcats on occasion. In seasons other than the cold days of winter youll see as many as 20 turtles in the pond. Dont forget the movies in the barn and Santa at the Ranch every December. This is another Blossom Valley Gem!

I grew up hiking the trails and they never get old to me, there are several different trails that fork off each other. The trails have beautiful scenic views of the south side, and youll definitely break a sweat the further up you go! Also make sure to watch out for rattlesnakes, and tarantulas!
