Not so great. The environment is too crowded and too noisy. The swimming lessons are bad either. I didn’t see any improvement on my swimming after learned a year or so.

Instructor wasnt very engaged or involved in the class. In addition, the school does not offer make-up classes even if your kid is not feeling well (not even with a doctors note). Overall its pretty expensive for what you get. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the heated pool.

I had changed timings for my kid to just try out first time in the year. Front desk told me that we are allowed to do so 4 times a year so we have 3 times left. My kid didn’t liked and wanted to get back with same class and teacher. Front desk lady was so rude when I asked her as if I am asking special favour . I asked her if that time is available, to which she said it’s completely booked that slot which could be. Then I tried to say that we are even ok with another day since My kid wants that teacher, to that she simply said that the teacher is leaving. Finally we settled for another teacher. They themselves change teachers for same batch same time without even informing parents of so, then why are they so rude when parent is requesting. Very bad experience with front desk. Front desk needs to be polite to their customers.

I came down here from Redding, CA to swim for DACA. After hearing so many good things about the team, from the quality character of the staff and swimmers to the swimming expertise relayed to me in the pool by Coach Pete and Coach Gordy. Before I had come down here, I had been having a tough time staying in the pool and my hunger for swimming was quickly dying out. I had come down to get rejuvenated and be a contributing member of this team (and a proud one at that). By the end of the summer, my expectations had been far exceeded. I went home and wore my cap with pride. Its been a few months since then, and I still miss it. It takes a special group of people to have me miss waking up at 5:50 AM six days a week in the summertime, or miss being told to kick even farther or faster than I thought I could. My teammates were also awesome. I was so thankful to be surrounded by such a stellar group of people. In addition to putting in work at the pool, I made some great friends. For the quality of coaching I had, the price was very reasonable. I am so grateful for everything DACA has done for me.

My son had a lot of fun here, the coaches are great and very nice. Once, in competitive, the sets became harder but my son still managed thanks to the help of Coach Troy. +Special Thanks to Coach Troy! :)

I joined my kid here when he was 4 yrs old. He had this inherent fear of water and it took him a month(4 classes) to get over that. The instructor he got had exposure to kids with this fear. She made sure he had fun and at the same time he got his swimming lesson for the day. DACA is a little ob tge costlier side, but is very good for learners. They have classes fir adults even. My kid has been going to them for about 4 months now and he can swim. To keep kids intereated they have the ribbon levels and you are expected to earn them. I feel that is what keeps the children motivated. Pros. Good staff, good pool environment.Cons. $$, they are inflexible, in that if you miss a class for whatever be the reason, you arent reimbursed/postponed.

I have mixed opinions about DACA. My 7 year old son was excited to participate. We practiced in our HOA pool until he could do basic freestyle and backstroke comfortably although his form was terrible. My son was very motivated, we went to the assessment and they recommended him for the begginer pre-competetive classes. We stuck with it for two months.Long story short, it was too intimidating for my 7 year old. His coach was not very encouraging and being in a huge noisy cold pool complex was hard. DACA seems like a swimmer factory. Most coaches (including my sons) stand at the end of the pool, briefly explain a drill, and send the students off down the lane. The the coach tells the students all of the ways they messed up and explain what they need to do better. If your child is older (maybe 12+) and motivated, then they could probably benefit and get really good. Watching some of the other skill levels, I could see some really good swimming and instruction overall. The problem is that for little kids, very new to swimming, they dont understand why they are doing drills or what the objectives are to certain form and technique. In my experience with swimming and other sports teams, the number one trait of a successful coach is positive reinforcement. E.g. Good - That was great how you kept your head looking straight down at the bottom of the pool during your stroke. Keeping your head down will help you go faster and you wont wear out your neck. Keep your head lower when you breath like this. vs. Bad - Dont bring your head so high out of the water when you breath. Do it again. I think that getting in the water with the kids at this age so they can model technique and learn to feel the proper stroke is critical as well. This is something the coach rarely did. There was one coach I observed with a group of 12 year olds that was doing awesome. There was another coach I saw with 10 year olds that was just terrible (A big fat guy that just yelled at the kids and complained). Im not sure how they assign instructors to the classes, but it seems hit and miss. Also class sizes ranged from 3 kids to 15 kids per instructor (bigger classes for the more experienced?).I had no issues working with the administration. They were able to coordinate payment through a home school charter without issues. I think the pricing is fair since two 30 min classes per week is good.

My son (8 y.o.) has been enrolled for a month now, and I am very pleased with the staffs service. Every time I talk to any of the staff members my request is granted. Either by phone or in person, I am very satisfied with the service. The facilities are very clean, and the chlorine smell is much less then in other similar swim schools we have been before. I cannot say about my sons progress yet, the time has been too short for that, but he is enjoying the classes so far.

Too cramped indoor pools but the young kids might not feel so for their first splash. Once famous, but with more Asians moving into this area, parents want a more competition style of training for their kids so this place loses fad. Coaches are good.

My kids both go here. My son graduated from the swim school and is now at the pre competitive level at De Anza college. My daughter is four and swims proficiently. Weve always had amazing instructors and great customer service. We feel very lucky to be a part of the DACA community.

They have two overcrowded pools. If one of the little kids pees in the shallow pool, they move all kids to the other pool. That means the bigger kids can no longer swim laps (they take down the lane markers and make kids swim laps the narrow direction of the pool, maybe 20 feet wide), so they basically get nothing out of the lesson time. DACA refuses to offer any opportunity to reschedule and wont give discounts for the substandard lessons those days. Dont bother complaining, they wont do anything. They also have very small change rooms (take your kids home in a robe and then change them). Also, 30 min lesson = 25 lesson + 5 play time. Teachers arent always the same each week. The kids are in groups of 4 and they only let one swim at a time so most of their lesson time is spent waiting their turn. The only real positive is they have a lot of evening time slots for parents who cant take kids during the day.Keep looking.

My kid has been going there for last 4 years, despite being proficient , he has barely been able to get to ore-competitive . Its like we have been paying them month over month to just go and have him hang around in the pool for 30 mins . When we urged them that there is no progress they changed him to pre-competitive and that gave them the opportunity to charge us even more. On top of that , they are so inflexible that if due to health issues if we have to cancel one class they still charge us fully and dont give any options to reschedule etc. there are only 4 classes a month , which are very expensive and then if you miss one , you are still paying for it. I feel a complete waste after investing 4 years in this place. Looking for a place which will focus on my sons development instead of finding ways of earning more and more money for us for no return.

Registered for their Splash classes and later for their adult swim lessons(April and May 2013). Some instructors were good and some are not. I felt the instructors who are good for teaching kids need not necessarily be good with adults. Probably because, adults come with a lot of fears, predispositions and a much much slower learning pace than kids. The ability to relate to the adults difficulties and be able to communicate in ways that would yield in the right body movements in water is possible only for a more experienced instructor. Adults do not have the same flexibility as kids. I encountered one very good instructor and one not good instructor, so I guess its best to enroll for splash classes and determine which instructor suits best before committing to a month long time slot with an unknown instructor for an adult class. I say this because their class change policies and cancellation policies are quite unfriendly. They theoretically say you can call 24 hours in advance to cancel a class, but they do not honor when we want to exercise. There are no make up classes. Does not help for most adults. I understand that they do not want people to unduly take advantage of rescheduling classes, but even for a sincere learner their policies are truly deterring continuity or value for money.I agree with others about the change facilities. Ive seen an almost torn and falling apart shower curtain for a two months before they replaced it in the ladies change facility. They have just one shower in the change facility. For the traffic they have, they will need at least one more. The current shower has a rusty bench, and not that clean floors(may be difficult to maintain in such facilities).

In simple words this place sucks. Staff is very rude. They keep changing instructors and instructors are useless. No option for makeup class even you tell them in one month advance. My daughter got different instructor every tune for 7 continuous classes. If you complain for anything they show you the copy if policy you signed.

Very rude , unprofessional staffInstructors change every week, have scary tattoos, no family designated changing area, very small locker room.If you planing to bring your little children to learn how to swim, you will see them actually swimming for 5-10 minutes the most, the rest of time they just playing around. If you are looking for a clean, nice place for your children to learn how to swim, look elsewhere else like AVAC or YMCA.

Im very impressed with this organization (both the swim school on De Anza and the associated pre-competitive and competitive programs at De Anza College).Compared to other swim schools (La Petite Baleen in San Carlos and Sutton in Cupertino -- which were both good, just not as good as DACA), there is much more of an emphasis on honing skills and progressing with the instructors at DACA. My now 12 year old and 10 year old daughters had plateaued at Sutton. My older girl has now moved on to the competitive program and my younger girl is in pre-comp. Im 99% sure its not just a change of venue that spurred the kick-start. My observation of the instructors at DACA shows much more emphasis on form and performance than Ive seen elsewhere. Ive never seen at other schools an instructor lunging through the water to grab a students ankle followed by hands on correction of a stroke problem.

I think this place must have changed since the other reviewers went here! They have two large warm water pools, our instructor (tracey) is friendly and professional. My daughter (14 months) loves her swimming sessions. The changing facilites are poor - they could do with more space, more places to put your child while you are changing. But if you are organised, it is fine.

The worst swim school for several reasons:1) They are money hogger. All they care of is how they can extract from the customers2) Staff is very rude.3) Staff is very partial. They make exceptions for some customers and not for others. They did a refund to my friend, but when it came to us they refused. We have a proof of the their double standards4) In a 30 mins class, the swim teachers for the first 10 mins of the class teach some basics, then onwards they start looking at the clock to see how soon it will pass and the last 10 mins they will goof around by playing around, so essential in 30 mins session the class is for 10 mins.5) They provide no make up classes even if your childs class falls on a holiday. I understand its a policy but then they make selective exceptions to their special customers.6) The bathrooms are unclean, full of hair & filth clogged over all the places. Its a total waste of money, energy and time with DACA. They suck..also they dont care as they think they will always have some enrollments due to their centralized location in Cupertino.
