SJ Stage has a nice intimate space, and their productions are worth seeing. The prices are reasonable, and so are the offerings of refreshments. I usually attend a couple of shows a season.

The talent here is off the charts. How lucky we are to have been season ticket holders for years and years. No matter what the play is, from drama to comedy to musical, they put on an excellent show!

Watched Evil Dead the Musical here and it was super fun. The grooviness was there, the actors were super fun and the camp was amazing. They had 4th wall breaks and we totally loved it. I havent laughed this hard in a long time and I definitely got an ab workout from it. Even the blood splatter they had was super fun and it was a great first musical to the new year. The only gripe I would have is during some portions of the singing the music was a little loud and it would drown out their voices. Other than that the show was epic.

Pretty good production of Mama Mia. Sofie was a bit off key sometimes. Donna was pretty good. Sam also. Only draw back was I expected a comedy, which it was but they inserted gratuitous racy parts that did almost nothing for the story. Made it uncomfortable for family. The extras that changed the scene were really good.

We have seen the last 5 seasons of plays at the SJ Stage. Everyone has been fantastic - the acting, direction and sets are always superb, and we have thoroughly enjoyed every performance. Anyone who enjoys plays should catch a show at the Stage, or better yet, buy a season - dinner and a great play makes for the best date night!

Saw a great production of Sweeney Todd here a couple of weekends ago. Fantastic direction and great use of a small space!Very near the sofa district in San Jose so it was easy to grab dinner before the show. I thought that $15 was a little steep for their parking lot especially as there is a lot of nearby convenient street parking that is also an option. Also a surprisingly large womens restroom for such a small space. I was pleasantly surprised, though I didnt visit during intermission or after the show so not sure how crowded it might get.

Went there while visiting the valley for a play and we quite impressed. The venues seating was comfortable and all seat have a good view. The performance itself was also of very high quality. Will definitely look this up again next time I am in town for a nice evening out. Location is also quite convenient, just a few streets away from many bars and restaurants to hang out or have a meal after performance. Highly recommended.

Went to see the Toxic Avenger here and it was brilliant. Great music and fantastic cast. Its a small theatre with good sloping between the rows so you can easily see over heads. As others have said there arent really any bad seats though I think the far left or right would be my last choice. Alcohol and limited range of chocolatey snacks ans nuts available.

Fool for love is an excellent play. It lasts 70 minutes but the time passes so quick due to the amazing story and dialogues. Even though the stage is pretty small, the director did a great job setting it up and utilizing it effectively. In general, the theater is small but it feels so cozy and private - I love that vibe. The actors are all amazing. They are full of passion and you can tell that a lot of hard work preparing this play was necessary. Ill certainly come back - what a great reminder how awesome some real art is.

Excellent community theatre. I have attended several of their musical productions with my teenage son. The theatre is surprisingly small- youre seated in an ampitheatre with the stage right below you and the front row is even with the stage. There are definitely no bad seats. They offer a small selection of concessions outside which are allowed inside the theatre. Restrooms available. Located at the South-most end of downtown, there are coffee shops, bars and restaurants galore for 2 entire blocks immediately to the north and on adjoining blocks, as well as several nightclubs. 7pm shows make for a great evening out.

I really really like San Jose Stage. I have been attending plays here for years and I am very impressed with the quality of the works and the choices. They have been putting on very sophisticated and high quality productions. I attend a lot of theater in both San Francisco and Berkeley and New York and I am very impressed with San Jose Stage. Plus it is a great theater. There isnt a bad seat in the house and the size allows for a very intimate feel. And everyone there is so determined to please from the artistic director who goes out of his way to make sure the performances are terrific to the incredibly nice staff and volunteers who make you feel so lucky to be there. San Jose is very fortunate to have such a wonderful theater group!

We have been members here for several years now. They never fail to disappoint. Their season consists of usually 4 shows and a summer musical. The plays range from classics like Death of a Salesman to some contemporary pieces like RFK which was a monologue and amazing, to some other more risque subject matter like in Wild Nights. They also have a summer musical. Two of my favorites have been Toxic Avenger and Aadams Family. The year is a small production so if you go and like it consider becoming a season ticket holder. They are reasonably priced and you would be supporting local art in your community. The theater itself is small and only has a really tiny lot so get the a little early to get street parking. The is usually intermission. It is easier to just bring cash if you want to buy a drink. Summer Musical is up next and will be Hedwig and the Angry Itch.
