Amazing facility! Its beautiful, clean, friendly staff that treated us like royalty. The food was fantastic. Comedian was hilarious. All in all we will be looking at events here again. It was well worth the price and the drive.

We had the pleasure of visiting the San Jose Improv theater. This theater is beautiful and well organized and ran. Food was prompt and delicious and brought by a smiling face. Seating was comfortable and everyone had a great view of the comedian. Lots of up and coming comedians! Ours was hilarious.

An awesome evening with friends for a Laughter Show and had a great time. Seating is comfortable but if you are going to a laughter show please be open minded and respect the artist, not only that jokes can be directed straight at you and take them as jokes - dont get offended or get personal with the jokes. Perfect for an evening hangout with friends and love once. Its often a lovely walk once you come out!

Love this place have gone there about three times the drinks are good food is good and the shows are awesome. The seating is really close to the action or to the performer and every seat is a good house definitely worth the 60 bucks to go see a show. Great acts and a variety of food..would like the service to be faster but nothing else to complain about.

Acts were great, good was good, but not disclosing the two item minimum until you get handed your ticket after you pay is where you lost two stars. It felt dirty. Otherwise we had a great time!

Such a great venue! This was my first time attending a comedy show at the San Jose Improv and it definitely will not be my last.They have the whole system dialed in with insane efficiency. Your tickets are scanned in and youre stamped while youre waiting in line. So when the doors open you just walk in to your seats. The venue itself is a great size to accommodate a lot of people and yet still feel intimate.My husband and I got upgraded to the VERY front & center of the stage because we were there early enough.The staff is super attentive and drinks come quickly. Its a 2 drink minimum, but purchase the souvenir cup with your drink and it counts as 2. But be mindful the bathroom is upstairs, so plan accordingly.We had a really great time, and will come back again and again.

Seen so many awesome shows at this venue. Some of the best acts with my favorite comedians of all time. Shows I will never forget. Epic. Great place, great shows. Just go there. What do you have to loose?

Beautiful location. The tiered seating made every seat a great view. We arrived early to get seats up close which worked out great.Then, about 20 minutes into the show, they brought a group of people in to join us. They had us get up and move over a table to join a table that was not full. They did this on the other side of us so that these 4 people who showed up late for the show could be close and sit together. We missed about 10 minutes of the show. We tried to get back into it but these new people kept talking and taking selfies. It made it hard to enjoy anything after that. Basically, the night was ruined for us, the people next to us, and the people behind us.

Great food. Great lineup. Excellent service.-1 star for poor acoustics. Why wont yall add a couple of speakers at the back so people can hear above the noisy crowds?

Have good stand up comedy shows. Make sure to check out ticket availability online. They also have a good food menu including vegetarian options.

Every once in awhile they will have a great act!! I would go here more often, but they require you to purchase 2 items on the menu for each person. sometimes i just cant do that..not sure if that is standard for all comedy clubs.

We had a great time. It was like date night. We saw Brandon T. Jackson. Funny! Chopped salad was the bomb. The blue cheese on there was exquisite. Not enough bacon tho. But as far as food that is your best choice. DO NOT order anything nachos there. It nasty. For desert I ordered the chocolate chip cookies. They were so good warm and just ecstasy... Enjoy!

Nice venue, overpriced. Two item minimum per person. I ordered the nachos cost a total of $20, they came cold, soggy and the guacamole I paid $3 extra for was a table spoon sized dollop of some bland grocery store bought guacamole. The only saving grace was the comedian.

Renovated and looking fresh and clean. The menu was limited but the service was fast and friendly during the show. The comedians I have personally seen have been great. The smaller crowd also allows the comedians to try some new material which keeps the shows fresh even if you have seen the comedian before.

Always a fun venue. We get up and coming artists and some good ol famous comics on stage here. Cozy and dark when the stage is lit and always good service.

Awesome place for some great stand up. Hear Pablo Francisco and TJ Miller here, all absolutely great. TJ Millers show was hands down the most enjoyable. Gotta check this place out if you can. Parking is expansive...but its downtown San Jose, so we all get it...

Enjoyed the experience. Lol didnt find the actual person I watched hilarious but I enjoyed the event. I found it interesting that they lock your phone in these pouches - to protect jokes? Also nice that they didnt strictly enforce the 2 item policy.Food was alright - they had so many people that the food came out very slowly. Brussel sprouts good but kinda sweet. Salad good. Difficulty eating when having to share a small table with other people. Could be considered so crowded that people trying to walk past you could get a little annoying.If you want to sit in the couches, I recommend going early

The comics are great and so is the venue, unfortunately the food is terrible. There arent enough staff to accommodate the customers which leads to cold food being served. There is a two item minimum so purchase of food and drink are expected. I hope they find solutions. Maybe an app so people could order while waiting in line so the servers have more to time to get orders out or getting people seated and taking orders before the show starts.

Nice venue, but they require two food / drink menu item purchases, per person, if u buy VIP tickets. Doesnt make sense. Food and drinks are way overpriced and quality of food was not good at all. $17 for a burger and $15- for a cocktail + tax and tip! In any case, had a good time.

The venue is comfortable, but ordering food was a mess. The waitress kept interrupting us and bringing the wrong order about 4 times, so we kept missing parts of the intro comedians. The food wasnt very appetizing either. We ordered loaded fries and almost the whole basket had no condiments, it looked like plain fries with sour cream on the center.Luckily the cocktails were good, and the comedians mostly funny. Overall an ok evening.

Fun place, a bit pricey and the whole poor your phone in a bag that you can only open outside is a bit annoying. Not a big fan of the way they make you seat either: when you get in its some sort of first come first seated situation but you dont get to choose where you seat, so while you might arrive early enough you might end up being seated in some not so great seats

I love that they take your phones!Problem with the place is- do NOT sit on the balcony in the middle back. The sound of the noise from the bar right behind you makes it hard to hear the performers.

Just visited again on 11/07/19 after the remodel and man that was a downgrade, they now have cheap folding chairs instead of the cushioned chairs. I can’t really tell what the improvement was. To make things worse they hiked up menu prices$51 for 6 domestic beers and $57 for imported... not liking their methods.

Fun spot to go too. Parking across the street was easy, but expensive @ $7 an hour. Be prepared to possibly share a table with another couple.

Ive been coming to the improv for many years. But recently the quality of comics has really gone downhill and the service has gone downhill even faster. The last visit the service was so bad I complained to the manager. But the manager was even more rude and couldnt care less that I received bad service. She all but told me she couldnt care less. From now on Ill be going somewhere else.

Watched a stand-up comedy show with Rex Navarrette tonight. The show, which included a fifteen minutes opening act, lasted about two hours. During that time the overhead made 4 separate announcements to inform everyone that there is a two item minimum purchase per person. Kind of tacky of you ask me.Hubby and I had a total of 3 cocktails, an order of chicken quesodilla, and an order of fries. Total came out to be about $75. Pretty pricey. Luckily the tickets were inexpensive.

One downside is that theres a 2 item minimum and the cheapest thing is 7 bucks but I think thats pretty much the norm for comedy clubs. Its only $25-30 for a show though so it balances out. I loved both of the shows Ive been to see, not that thats necessarily a reflection of the club

I love the shows but I felt like I was being herded in. People were being sat at tables with other people they didnt know which is kind of awkward. Food is overpriced and not very good. Bathroom is ok. Friendly wait staff.

AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENTHORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!Me and my group arrived 20 minutes after the start of the show due to car difficulties. We already had our tickets and there was still someone outside that was capable of scanning us in. He told us that we wouldnt be allowed inside, then called out a woman who I believe to be his supervisor. This was the rudest woman I have ever met. She said you guys arent getting in, simple. She continued to say that people being late is the way they make their money, whatever that means. We then asked for the general manager. He was also very disrespectful. He came outside screaming at us saying The doors are closed, you are not getting in!!! He then went inside, shut the door on us. He then called the police officers to handle us as if we were some type of criminals. I have never been so embarrassed or hurt like this before. Very unprofessional people.

Sidewalk entrance smelled like weed. Friendly staff, but food was average and our drinks were incorrect both times we ordered. Again, super-friendly staff.

Great place for comedy, Staff is friendly. Service is slow due to seating guests as they arrive and taking orders wich has you waiting for your order and if your server forgets utensils even longer. Still love the place and will continue to come. I recommend!

Always a great experience at the San Jose Improv. I ate dinner there before the show, a burger, which was actually better than expected. Beautiful interior. There is table seating in the main floor (which is split level for better viewing) and there is an upstairs section with seats only. There is no dedicated parking but downtown has plenty nearby places to park ... for fee. At times there is a line outside to get in even if you already have tickets. Sometimes this can be annoying if the weather is unpleasant.

This shows are fun, there may be a 2 item limit depending on the show, food is mediocre, drinks are good. Overall a fun experience, may not be family friendly so check the content before taking the family but its a great start to date night, since there are plenty of options to continue the date.

Great venue. Is undergoing a makeover which is all it needed. A great time with friends or on a date.

Get there early, the line is really long. The show is funny. Really enjoyed Dante Chang. Atmosphere was friendly and joyous. It is an enjoyable evening out. I recommend it and well go again.

I think Rooster T Feathers is better bang for the buck but I’ve seen some great acts come through the SJ Improv. My girlfriend and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip last time and it was not good. Probably not the best comedy spot for food.

Can often get free tickets on EventBrite or discounted ones on Groupon. Look up the comedian on YouTube to see if you like their style. Free tickets come with a two item minimum (per person). I dont think that is strictly enforced.Food and drink is pretty pricey. $6 for a soda...$7 to 10 for a bottle of beer. We got nachos for $13. They were pretty good, smallish portions, chips got soggy too fast.

Extremely rude staff, I would have give them zero star, they do not deserve any star, we pay money for the ticket and their food which is not worth for that money, but still treating us extremely rude, whatever you ask them, they call their manager and the manager has no skill of customer service she talks to you like your asking for her kidneys or something. You take money from people you suppose to be a good host, Improve I highly suggest that you need to hire new staff which has the knowledge of a good customer service, you need to replace these mean unprofessional staff that are ready to fight with customers. This was my last visit I would never come back I had come twice to this place and had extremely bad, mean, rude experience from your staff.

Comedy was great!! Food was ok, service was begrudging and felt like they were doing us a favor by letting us order. Overall I’d say “Eh”. In future I wouldn’t spend the $280 ($70 each for 4 people) for the booth and food and drink credit. I’d eat before I go and just have a beer there.

Horrible seating and its made worse by staff who fill up your table with other guest who just block your view. I had to see through various people and could not see the show.Stop forcing people into tables and creating an uncomfortable positions for guest.

Great place for comedy. We are over an hour away but go fairly often because of the great talent they get. Doug Stanhope was our most recent show. Weve seen him 8 or 10 times now and hes always great. Go to the Improv and go go see Doug any chance you get.

I will never go there again. Worst customer service. Horrible lines and they oversell their tickets. They play the others are better than you game and then our tickets were not even available at will call. Trying to give us another day instead. Was stopped at door and told to show receipt for our drinks we bought. IFelt like I was under suspicion of not paying my server. Ive never been stopped leaving a restaurant or any other establishment because they thought I didnt pay my bill. I paid $45 for 4 drinks and then get treated like a criminal when I want to leave.Im not going back and give this place any of my hard earned money.Plus the comedians were not funny.Sad!

Each comedian was very entertaining. There is a two item purchase per person which included my meal & drink. No problem whatsoever. The service was awesome. Definitely a good date night for me.
