It’s been 2 years since we have been there and till this day my husband and I talk about it. It was for sure one of the most magical nights of our lives, especially because we have been to other 20’s events and they never come even close to what this experience was. Just perfect. Totally felt threw back in the days and I am constantly daydreaming about the day we get to go back there again

It’s not about me liking the show or not, it’s about ethic in advertisement. I believe there is a false advertisement with the Magic Man at the Speakeasy which I attended yesterday. The show is not about magic but poorly performed physic practices. And also, the theater name is so confusing that they have several used name, the newest name is now showing up on google map. Show starts late. Boring and lame!

I had the privilege of seeing the James Brown show here and it was Fantastic. At first i didnt know what to expect from the venue nor the production but i was in for a surprise. The venue is beautiful once inside and the production was worth price of admission plus more, note we bought 4 VIP tickets. Highly recommend and the guy who plays James Brown (Dedrick Weathersby) is definitely a talent you dont want to miss, his band is awesome as well.

Boxcar is known for having their hands in some incredible shows - most currently the 1920s immersive experience in North Beach called The Speakeasy. At a secret location. Get dress up to the 9s yourself or rent a costume from their rentals department. Great for dates, bachelor/ette parties, and group outings. 3 bars, a cabaret show and a pay to play casino all while a story plays out around you. A definite San Francisco must see!

Excellent stuff, the drinks are awesome and the show itself has a lot of secrets, the only thing is you need to figure out custumes in advanced or pay for a ticket that contains them

Ive been here for improv jams and a couple showings of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind by the Neofuturists. There are two levels, with table seating up front, a piano to the side of the stage, and seats in the back. There is a pillar between the piano and the rest of the stage, which can block views depending on where one sits and whether all parts of the stage are used. I like the division, though, because there could be interesting ways of framing scenes as a performer and as an audience member, more dynamic. One issue to note is that the restroom facilities are shared in the building, and theyre one-at-a-time, so the lines can get kind of long.

Tiny theater that gets you up close and personal with the actors. Very much like a small nightclub with entertainment. Every seat is perfect. REcently I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch. This was a very interactive show with actors dancing on your table-top. The theatre was perfect for it. Inside the place is a bit trashy-looking and the tables arent especially comfortable, but that fits the venue perfectly. Bathrooms are a long walk downstairs so go before the show. Refershments are not fantastic. Neighbourhood is not so good. Parking SUCKS. Walk here.
