Came here for a date and honestly was such a great show! We had about five comics give their sets and each was so unique in their delivery and humor style. The venture isn’t super huge but there were definitely enough seats for all of us. There was also a bar to get drinks at and bathrooms on the second floor. After the show, you can mingle with the comics and take more pictures which is super low key and fun. Would come again!

Secret Improv Society is always a great show. Ive been to it at least 10 times now and I always have a great time. The theater is small so theres really no bad seats. The full bar is nice, and theres usually some sort of musician playing live music in the bar area before the show starts.

We went here on a Saturday night (late show) and had a great time. There were about 5-6 comics, jokes were really funny, nice and intimate theater-style setting. One of the highlights of our trip to SF and nice to get away from all the typical touristy things.

Went here with my out-of-town parents and my mom accidentally bought tickets for a different day. When we got there, everyone was trying to pull strings together for us to watch the show. They were all friendly, inviting, and not to mention, hilarious. We ended up getting to watch the show and it turned out to a memorable night.

Best little hole in the wall for some comedy! Get there early so you can relax in the lounge area and have some drinks while you wait for the doors to open. The bartender was so sweet and nice I wish I had gotten her name but she remembered mine and my husbands drinks all night and helped me with the door when my hands were full and even gave us complimentary glasses! So thoughtful of her. I brought my husband to the stand up show as a birthday present and he loved it! We both enjoyed it and couldnt stop laughing. If youre a local or just visiting this place it is definitely a must see!

Quite possibly the most entertaining $22 Ive ever spent. My only complaint is that it had to end. The comedians were great, the owner was a super nice guy and the drinks are solid. We almost tried to stay for the second show (which was sold out). Will definitely return.

At 22$ per ticket, this place is an absolute steal. The stage has 3 adjacent bars that serve whiskey, beer and wine. Each show is 90 minutes long and has 5-6 artists (each of whom get 15-20 minutes of stage time)I loved most of the sketches including the hosts take on SFs current tech problem but felt some of the material could have been fresher without having to fall back to the realms of regular standup material.Thats just a minor glitch in what was otherwise a perfect evening. Kudos to the front benchers for being a great sport despite being picked upon multiple times :-)Pro-tip : Its completely fine to get up for a drink or to go to the bathroom in the middle of a show.

Review №23

The venue was casual, relaxed and friendly which was great. It’s a good idea to arrive a little earlier for a drink or two at the bar before the show starts. The show itself is in a separate intimate theater which is really cool because you feel close to the stage regardless of where your seat is, and the comedians are up close and personal. There were about five comedians over the course of a little over an hour or so. The most polished of the lot was Scott Simpson. The others, well, I don’t want to be too harsh but they weren’t amazing, adding up to a somewhat quirky show overall. I’ve read other reviews lauding the comics, but maybe that was a different line up or they were having an off night. There were even some uncomfortable moments when a joke didn’t hit or the comic didn’t know what to say next. But overall if you relax and roll with it, this is a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

After going to quite a few comedy shows and events in the city I can honestly say this is one of the best. Drinks were generous pours and delicious, its San Francisco so yes theyre not cheap get over it. Lost control of bodily functions, i.e. peed my pants. This being the highest compliment a person can give to a comedian, or in this case, a group of comedians. If over 40, anticipate wearing extra padding. Also at $20 per head, it is Cheaper Than Therapy - I would know.

Ok this was a quiant little place. The owners and host were great. Kaitlyn the last comedian ruined the vibe when she used the floor to force her options of Kavenaughs supreme court scandal down our throat. Dont get me wrong Im all on joking but she rouge and went on a rant. I think Kaitlyn could severely damage this little comedys clubs reputation.

Super expensive drinks, for starters. A few of the comedians were good, but 2 of them were completely awful. They insulted and yelled at the crowd, picking out specific people and making personal insults. These people didnt volunteer or ask to participate. A girl was called out for fanning herself with her hand because it was hot, and she looked visibly uncomfortable with the unwanted attention. A pair of girls were interrogated as to if they were dating. A midwestern couple was asked if they met on Craigslist. Everyone was visibly uncomfortable. And once people were uncomfortable, both these acts made it worse by making fun of the crowd for being uptight and not laughing. Were not laughing because youre yelling at people and making jokes about suicide and sexual assault. Its not funny, its super awkward and weird. My friends and I actually considered leaving halfway through. Luckily the later acts were better, but I would never return. It was incredibly uncomfortable in the middle. Ugh Im cringing just thinking about it.

A cool place to go for a real American style comedy show with reasonable price and good interaction with the comedians (you could enjoy your drinks with them after the show)! Even I, a foreigner, laughed for half of the show (the other half being I cant understand what they are talking about). They are a group of talented comedians knowing how to tell good funny stories about their lives. I had a small chat with one of the producers, Scott. Apparently, they cannot make a living only by performing comedies but they did it anyway for about 4 years, simply out of their enthusiam. I respect that very much and hope they can enjoy and grow a lot in the future! I will definitely visit again if I were to visit SF again and I highly recommend this place!

Dont miss this show if youre looking for an affordable, hilarious, chill, and intimate experience. You get to see six different local (but sometimes visiting) stand-up comics in the span of an hour, so you get a nice variety. The comic selection changes day to day (except for the three co-producers): I come back regularly to see new talent.Check in at the box office at the end of the hall after you walk in, then grab a drink either behind the box office or in the downstairs lounge. The drink prices are fairly reasonable, and theres no drink minimum: bonus! Youre also encouraged to get up and refill your glass anytime you feel like it during the show.Note that restrooms are not available downstairs: you have to come back up to the box office level for them. After the show, the comics invite all of the audience members to join them for a little after party at Chelsea Place, a little dive bar about a block away. Good times!
