The Mule team does great work, and genuinely cares about their clients and solving meaningful problems. They start with a thorough research and discovery process, to fully identify a problem before beginning the design. Because of this, Mule sites arent just good looking—they solve the real problems and are useful to their audience. Mule, very literally, writes the books on web design and research.Also, in 2016 Mule started an amazing gallery and event venue. Ive seen great shows during North Beach First Fridays, and really enjoyed the GOAT Salon discussions.

If you take the time to read, youll see the 1-star reviews are there because Mike and Mule dared to speak up about gun safety and other issues. Regardless of what you feel on any issue, speaking up, and thus, being open to attack in this manner, takes a lot of principle and courage.Mule has been a leader and staple in the design industry. While many have come and gone, started and been acquired, Mule continues its tradition of amazing talented work while also sharing their expertise through books and talks. As a 15-year veteran in the industry myself, I cant recommend their work highly enough.

Mule Design Studio are my favorite colleagues. Over the years Ive referred many impressed clients to them. The work they do in the community and online to share creative ideas and help people is inspiring and has become highly influential. If you can work with them, you would be lucky to do so.

Was thrilled with the work Mule did for my startup -- they were consistently both thoughtful and innovative, and they always keep the users needs in the forefront. Also, Erika, Mike, and the whole team were incredibly fun to work with -- we all looked forward to our meetings with them. Would absolutely work with again.

Cant say how bad am experience I had dealing with these guys. In the beginning all the ideas they had were great. In the end we were 2 weeks past deadline and the finished product was terrible. I had to apologize to my clients and our firm did not get the contract. I will never do business with hem again.

I did a workshop on presenting design at Mule, and it was a revelation. Mike is a fantastic and passionate teacher and the other attendees in the workshop were high caliber. This shop is a legend for a reason. Highly recommended.

Unexpected and excellent on a North Beach side street

Contacted Mule Design to give me a few ideas on some commercial projects at my business. When shown the ideas they had drawn up, I knew they would not quite work with the ideas I was striving for. Instead of working with me to better the design, they told me it was their way or the highway. The whole process turned ugly from here on out. Rude staff whos unappreciative of those trying to give them business.If you want good staff and service, look elsewhere.

I had some ideas for a small project that I was quite passionate about and presented them to Mule design with hopes that they would help me realize my vision. At the outset I was full of inspiration and hope for a great outcome.Unfortunately, my experience was extremely frustrating.In retrospect, this firm seems to be a microcosm of closed minded thinking fueled by egocentric intolerance.I was flat out told that my ideas were wrong and felt bullied by staff when I attempted to express them.If you value individual thought and personal expression, I urge you to take your business elsewhere.

This is an A+ design studio. Mike is both a talented designer and an excellent inspirational speaker.

Mike seemed like a nice enough guy, but his design came in late, exponentially over the budget we established together, and not even vaguely resembling the design I asked for.My initial impression was profoundly mistaken when I brought up my issues, and he proceeded to go on to a belligerent diatribe about how he was trying to make the world a better place, and expects me to contribute to that effort to make amends for my white priviledge. Im fairly certain he was intoxicated.I wasnt hiring a social justice warrior...or pay/wait for his extracurricular endeavors.I was just trying to get some basic design work done.Avoid this mentally unstable man at all costs.

Mule Design has consistently been the model by which other design studios should be judged. Mike and Erika are two industry heavy hitters so it stands to reason that something that comes from BOTH of them would be of this quality.

Cant give Mule enough stars -- thoughtful design, run by folks who are not just smart and talented but ethical, too.

The work that I had done was very low quality and the UI for my website was totally unuseable. Mule still attempted to invoice me for the total price. Yeah, nothanks.

Tried contacting mike in regards to a design I had, he didnt answer the phone or my email, found him on Facebook so pitched my idea at him through a pm, he told me he wanted nothing to do with it doesnt seem like a company that will help with tough jobs

Mike is the worst, the project was supposed to be done last week, and it was not complete. I have lost a million dollar client for my small business.Apparently he didnt have time to work on my project, but he had plenty of time to harass people of facebook, given the fact Ive been seeing his name pop up everywhere.I did not deal with the other employees, but he definitely does not deserve your business. Go somewhere else.
