What looks like a very small space actually turns out to be a pretty large two level space broken into lots of separate play spaces each with its own play furniture and fun. Slings, beds, custom built play equipment... its got pretty much everything you could imagine. The crowd is always very playful and no one seems to be left out of the play, unless they want to be of course. The awesome music and lighting give the place a sexy, mysterious vibe and enhance the experience. Management is very attentive to the customers and the place and, as a result, it is always very clean and you always feel safe there. I gotta say this is one of my favorite play spaces ever and Ive always had a great time there!

Can woman go in too? My wife and I will love to visit this place soon, if they allow women to enter.

Ive been to most gay adult play spaces in SF and several elsewhere (many have closed since). All are hit and miss. 442 is the only venue Ive been to where I get some even on a miss day. The venue attracts a diverse crowd (all races, and a variety of types) thats there to have adult fun. Not to chitchat or drink or socialize. Two levels with several rooms with a wide variety of play equipment like benches, platforms, horses, slings, etc. It gets very popular on Saturdays, less busy on Fri, Sun, Mon. Closed on other days except for special occasions. Given how popular it is and whats going on I have to say they do a great job keeping the place clean. No need to freak out about making contact with any of the surfaces, and that is not the case everywhere else in similar establishments. Upper level can get very hot and steamy on busy nights. One of the reasons why most guys dont wear more than their jock strap, if that. 2nd floor is only accessible by a flight of stairs, but plenty of equipment to play on downstairs as well. Light level varies in different rooms, so whether youre shy or enjoy putting on a bit of a show, theres a spot for you. One room downstairs is a dark room. Also, on 5th Saturdays and rare other occasions the whole venue is extra dimly lit forlights-out parties. Free lockers ($5 deposit) $15 to get in, $10 on some less-busy nights. Friendly, responsive staff. No showers, no place to rinse, the one stall in the restroom is not very private, so come ready to play. Have fun!

I find 442 really hit or miss. On a few occasions it has been super fun; on others dead. Like other similar venues in SF, the crowd is usually pretty meh. The space is small and usually too warm and poorly ventilated. All the various play tables are too high or too low (and Im 6 tall). It isnt the most thought out space for sure. The staff are friendly enough but they have a cash only policy and apparently no coins either. Im increasingly suspect of businesses that dont take cards, in the year 2017 with the ubiquitousness of contactless payment such as Apple Pay. Anyone can get a square reader. As others say, Saturday nights are usually best. Sunday evenings are dead in my experience. Monday is a respectable crowd but get there close to opening at 8. By 9:30 - 10 there are few new arrivals and most people are out the door.

This venue is located off a laneway. Tourists Be very carefull as I was robbed en route to this venue. As a general comment South of market tenderloin mission and civic centre are most dangerous areas. Lots of homeless and people loitering in groups which a visitor would be intimidated by in latter 4 areas in vicinity I felt so unsafe walking. A SF cop confirmed to me that there is alot of crime and robberies in the latter areas 4 areas. This is also reported in SF gate newspaper.Google it for yourself. Exercise caution in the surrounding area especially if a tourist and seem unsure about your surroundings. This review is simply about the area and not about the venue itself. Its a pitty this venue isnt located in the Castro gay area.

I found this venue to be tourist friendly. Just a a few blocks from Bloomingdales and the Westfield Mall near Market and 5th. Also very close to the a main hub for BART, MUNI and cable cars. When I arrived, I was greeted with a very friendly and welcoming staff. I was impressed with the electronic lockers unlocked by wrist bands. So 2k. Once inside, lets just say it was game on. There was no wasting time to join the fun. That being said, it is also a great place to observe. The crowd was diverse and offered many scenes. Something for everyone. The 2 floor layout was jaw dropping. There are different rooms with different vibes. Each enhanced by a “low light” lighting design obviously well thought out by a pro. If you are a person seeking that legendary San Francisco South Of Market, aka SOMA experience, look no further. This is it.

Naked Mondays have been a tradition for gay men in San Francisco for years, and 442 brings it back in a welcome and safe environment. But safe is up to you, because were all adults here. Out of the three nights they open the doors, Mondays are my favorite. Its a nice crowd, gets busy early, and a lot of fun. It does get packed on a Cumunion Saturday, but thats to be expected.Slings, benches, beds, and alleys make for a versatile arena, with things added or changed every few weeks to keep it interesting. Free STD testing courtesy of the Health Department once a month, and I HIGHLY suggest it if you dont already have a testing routine.
