Great people watching! Im definitely no expert on water conditions especially as they relate to surfing and other water activities but this seems to be a place the consistently has the most ideal surf conditions in San Diego. On Wednesdays and weekends (particularly Saturdays) there are vendors and other activities (drum circles and acroyoga) and more. The pier is quite long so you can really get an expansive ocean view and some of the neighboring beaches. BE ADVISED: Parking can be tricky and people are gathered in large number and mostly not wearing masks but there is plenty of space to find your own area if you desire. Excellent area to see and take sunset photos especially in the Fall that I have dubbed Sunset Season in San Diego.

I have loved this beach since I was little. The waves are great, theres a lot of shops and restaurants, street vendors are out, the pier is a great place to walk, its always a great time. The people who frequent this beach are from all walks of life. Its never a dull moment! Yes there are homeless around but they dont bother anyone and in fact they can be quite interesting and friendly. In my opinion this is the best beach in San Diego.

Love this place, folks crabbing, fishing, a cafe, a gift shop, surf board for rent, hot cocoa and coffee for those rate SD chilly days. People watching, and sometimes theres art for sale.Get some fresh air and a view of OB. Wear your mask, if not for yourself, your loved ones! ️Before or after you walk the pier check out Template the cool coffeehouse art gallery half a block down from the pier. ️

Awesome view. If you in San Diego it is a must. Peir stretches out just under half a mile out into the ocean. Restaurant , bathroom, gift and fishing shop out there. Fishing aloud without a licence. Beware ..no drinking or smoking. Cop will ticket . Pour your drink in a plain cup like everyone else unless you want a 280 ticket!! That was the most freakin expensive PBR I ever had.

Longest pier in America! Beautiful. Historic landmark. Great for public fishing. Fishing license is necessary. No tackle shop available, come prepared if you want to fish. Great cafe on the pier, open for breakfast and lunch. If its raining or if theres remarkably strong wind check San Diego County Lifeguard website to make sure its open. If wave breaks hit the pier it will be closed. ENJOY!!! Open 24 hours. Cleanest public bathroom on the beach in OB!!

Beautiful pier stretching a good distance into the waters before splitting to form a T shape. Happening crowds, California sun, refreshing sandy beach, and amazing waves make this place a hot spot for surfers and everybody else! Its hard not to like this place. Beautiful place to take in the majesty of the ocean and bask in the ambience of crashing waves and salty air. Stay long enough for your mind to quiet and let the atmosphere wash away all thoughts, fears and worries. You’re doing better all the time and you deserve this moment. Learn from your past; keep your future open: be here—now. Once you’re clear and calm, let yourself smile. There’s so much to celebrate and be happy about: today is a beautiful day. Take this place with you always and come back whenever you need to. It only gets better from here. Stay blessed and stay beautiful—you’re worth it

Ocean Beach Pier is a great local gem where one can stroll a fair distance out in to the Pacific Ocean. As with Ocean Beach, there is a wide variety of individuals from all walks of life. This quality makes it an ideal place to people watch, nothing creepy... just interesting. There is also a cafe near the end along with a great view of the sunset. Regardless if youre a local or just visiting no trip to the area would be complete without stopping here.

We went at night. The pier was somewhat busy as a lot of people were fishing. Insanely enough, with all the fishing going on, it was rather clean. People kept to their own circles and there wasnt a sense of urgency to leave in a rush (like how Mission Beach now has, at nightime). It felt safe to be there with my family.

OB was a cool hang out, but now there is less parking due to restaurants setting up in the parking spots (on Newport Ave) and homeless people living in their cars in the lot by the pier and sleeping on sidewalks. The walkway by that particular parking lot smelled putrid and it was not a place to take the family. There were also homeless people that seemed under the influence, so it did not feel safe. We wont be returning anytime soon.

Awesome stroll off the shore on the pier. The OB pier is a quintessentially Southern California experience. Walk its almost 2,000 long pier and youll feel out in the ocean. Theres a greasy spoon cafe right on it, a lovely place to have coffee or soup. Pelicans and fishermen Grace the pier with their constant presence. On this particular day, they closed the pier because the waves were crashing pretty dramatically.

It was an awesome experience to be here in San diego for the first time. We had so much fun. The ocean beach was really dope. Definitely would be coming back with my wife in the future. There was a part of the OB where it really smelled like piss and im not exaggerating. It was hard to breathe. But other than the the rest of the Beach was awesome. The bridge was the best part. My wife really loved it. !!! Maybe next time we come we can relax and swim in the ocean.

Must go and walk to the end and then go to the Cafe!!!! I love watching the surfers there with my kids. My kids find the older guys hilarious as they surf. Its a long walk to the end but its awesome. While youre at it go rent some polls and buy some bait and spend some quality time with your kids or loved ones. Heck you might want to show off to your date and if you dont catch anything you go to the cafe and eat there.

Probably the last beach Ill ever walk on, it has everything youd expect from a California beach- a terrific pier with fishermen pulling them in, surfers showing us what waves are meant for, lifeguards standing watch, and oh, those California girls. Plenty of options to satisfy that hunger inside on Newport Ave as well as a large variety of specialty shops to relieve you of that burdensome money weighing you down. The folks are friendly and the restrooms are... well, theyre public restrooms. You know how that goes. Youll be glad you set aside a whole day to enjoy this place.

I was happy to see them there. It was a pleasant day to do this so lots of people were enjoying it. Amazing! Like most beaches. Big enough to find a good spot! Our family enjoyed our time very much and will be visiting again during our summer vacation list. Only downfall is the drug users as their is MANY, smoking pot and who knows what else. Not good for children to be around. However, they seem to stay to themselves so that helps to enjoy your family or solo time!
