Ocean Beach should be a destination for anyone in the area whether youre native or from out of the area. One will find the typical laid back, beach vibe with an eclectic mix of people from surfers to tourists. Sunset is also a particularly special time to visit. Watching the sun disappear behind the Pacific Ocean is always a treat. I will be back for sure in the future.

Nice and friendly people enjoying everyday simple pleasures of life on and off the beach. Tons of shops and restaurants to visit and enjoy. Just remember to wear you masks, cops are very active and are willingly giving citations

Relaxing and plenty sitting space and benches, parking of course always a lil challenging but all worth it.

What a sweet spot. I happened to be there on Wednesday for the farmers market and ended up surprised by the beautiful drum circle and fire spinning.

Wonderful little beach community in San Diego! Lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. Tide pools near the pier and a dog beach at the other end! You can also have fires on the beach in their respective fire rings!

Fantastic place to walk, eat, or just people watch. Highly recommend stopping by for the weekly farmers market (every Wednesday from 4p-8p). The park has quite the free-love gathering every Wednesday as well, it certainly makes the pharrell busy and fun to walk around.

Its almost a 20 year love for this place. Small town feel, friendly locals, and a pier. Not to forget Sunset Cliffs which is the jewel of the experience with a small beach to swim on and lots of crabs! (Not the edible kind but fun to watch)

There were a good amount of people and it was kind of messy but it was still a good time. There was also a farmers market that was lovely

It happens at the end of every year--I tend to look back on my favorite memories from the year. This year was a doozy of a year, with some incredible moments. Probably some of my best. And although the year isnt over yet, I know for sure that my favorite moment from 2017 was a picnic.

Awesome beach. Bonfire areas very cool spot. Dog beach is well worth it very friendly dogs and dog parents there and dog friendly place to stay right there that offers a dog washing station with dog shampoo and towels.

Its an extremely crowded, industrial feeling beach. The sand was kinda gross and smelly but it was also cool visiting the local businesses and the pier. Wasnt the worst beach Ive been to but definitely not the best.

Of course, during the week, there are very few people. Clean and ample parking.

Ocean Beach is always the sh#t! Be responsible and respectful of the community,and you will always have a blast!

America truly is great! Public, lifeguarded beach access with free parking. Families, surfers, swimmers, snorkelers, beachcombers gather at the seashore. Fire pits ablaze at night. Ocean Beach is the place to be

OB..its home with amazing sunsets, great places to eat, great wave and fun neighbors!

I lived in OB for 7 years. Then, I had to move back to OH. I missed it so much that I visited less than a year after leaving. OB is 7 miles surrounded by reality. It is its own little nook tucked back from the regular world where people can be themselves without judgment. It will forever be my home, no matter where I live.

Great place to get your toes in the sand! Short walk to many great restaurants and shops!

Waves were huge.....and the water was clean.....fresh️

Best off leash dog beach!!! Tons of free parking. Bathrooms are a little far to walk to. Poop bags available and plenty of trash cans.

Spent 5 days at this beach. Stayed at a BNB near by and walked here each day. The waves are perfect for less experienced beach goers. Exciting for them and great for boogie boards. Service dog was welcomed at the beach and had no issues with the lifeguards.

I love the weather it is so nice, perfect.

A super pretty beach with lots to do in the area. Fun for dog watching too. It was the first beach I visited in San Diego. Definitely would go there again when Im in town.

People watch and dog watch on the same beach...is there really anywhere else better. Parking was too bad of an issue either which was nice to not have to worry about. From here we walked down to the pier and enjoyed watching surfers from there. There are a few bars and restaurants nearby as well so if you need a break or a drink.

Great community! Beautiful beaches and people! Lots of wonderful, colourful people, scenery. All sorts of things going on! Plenty of space to do activities or a great spot to just chill.

I’m 100% biased that this is the best beach in San Diego. My family is from here, so I’ve been coming here for 46 years. Grab a beer, grab some tacos, and walk the pier. Check out the tidal pools. Sit in the warm sand and listen to the waves. Enjoy the salt air and sun, and enjoy all the people watching, with the kids playing and the folks walking. 10/10 this is always a good time.

Parking was difficult, ended up walking 1.5 miles from parking to beach. Dog park/beach was overcrowded

First time to that beach, and I would highly recommend it. The views were fantastic, the people were fabulous to everyone no matter what kind of life youre living.

This area is very laid back/chill. Has a hippie vibe to it. Tons of cool shops and interesting people. Beach is nice and has great waves. Mostly surfers around here. Nice places to eat. Overall a no frills type of place. Also a dog beach adjacent to human beach. Enough said!

If youre looking for a easy time on the beach, this is the place to be.Theres a bit of parking for beach goers, but fills up pretty quick, so show up with time to spare.Once you get out onto the beach, youll see that there are two areas, one for dogs and one without dogs. If you do have a dog, please be a responsible adult and clean up after your family member.The beach front is pretty well taken care of and is patrolled by a on duty life guard. There are decent waves for beginning surfers or for seasoned surfers looking for leisure.There are a few volleyball nets, but get used rather quickly. As well theres a bathroom and outdoor shower on site to rinse off with.

Parking was at a premium the day that I went but it was nice that beach access was easy and obtainable. Good place to get your feet in the ocean.

I like coming to OB for the laid-back environment, also to watch them do acroyoga on Wednesday’s. That’s always a fun time. The beach is nice. Oh and I love their farmers market.

Very nice sandy stretch of beach with only one outcropping of rocks. Nice grassy area behind the sand to enjoy sitting or lazing without the sand. Seems like a nice family oriented beach. Not sure what was going in, but lifeguards used bull horns several times to herd people away from different areas - maybe undertow? We couldnt hear clearly. Not overly crowded even on a Saturday. Lots of surfers out beyond the break water. Sailboats, kayaks. Beautiful Vista.

OB is historic in its own sense. The people here are a collective of many different kinds of people. Many local men sport beards here and woman have a hippie Bohemian style.also the many visitors who visit here are from around the world.the beach has a surf area that many come at dawn and dusk to surf. On Wednesday its market day and they close off the streets to have a weekly fair. At night it becomes a drum circle with many folks playing and dancing. No other beach in San Diego has what OB has.

This is great recommend everyone to visit. Beautiful sunset. Had a great time with a new forever friend Ritchie.

We had some wonderful gelato at a little coffee/sandwich shop. Nice area to walk the beach and watch the surfers.

So many childhood memories the last time I was there in 1982 right before my father died I returned a few days ago with my children 30 something years later and its still the same as I remember beautiful sunset beautiful beach beautiful people

Very busy, parking awful to find, and be careful they will give you a ticket!! Paid parking available. Some restaurants do not serve children after 6pm. Lifeguards are the best thing about this beach, truly attentive and busy. They will notify u of rip currents and will direct everyone away. Do not swim in the surfing club area!! .. Lots of people doing yoga. Take a shade umbrella.

Beautiful beach to walk. There is a dog park on one side where your four paws can enjoy.

Laid back beach community. On the surfer/ free spirit, authentic side.Devoid of Chains, Except for Starbucks. Lots of eating, drinking and beach shops. Fun and safe has been my experience. Worth checking out, not as touristy as most beaches.

Surprisingly well controlled, diverse people but if anybody starts detract from others experience there will be a large response to move them along. Hilariously large with many city departments involved...The nearby dog beach is a lot of fun if you have a well-behaved dog or just like dogs randomly running up to you as you walk in the water.Neither of the electric car chargers in the parking lot work.

Beachfront park. Doesnt get much better.

I live a ten minute bike ride from beach. Bike to beach, bring book and towel and beverage and relax. Fun to people watch. Can body board, swim etc in ocean yet not best surf spot even near pier. Gets very crowded in summer. For this beach I mostly like to take dip in ocean and then dry off and read and get a tan. The type of beach that makes you think California.

This is by fare the best place for locals to go to the beach.

People are wearing mask and giving space, stay away from the wall though.

This beach is beautiful, you can find so many little crabs and sea creatures that the kids kids could observe. The walk out had the best restaurant with fish caught right outside at the beach! Its a wonderful place to take pictures or relax under the sun and swim.
