Normally, base activities would rate higher for me. This is for the RV and boat parking part of RNG. Absolutely no reason to raise prices $180 more than previous years for the same parking spot. What was once $300/yr is now closer to $500/yr. While still cheaper than off base, a more than 50% increase is ridiculous.

Hard to find information though. (edit. I removed a star)Range status is unpredictable since its at the whim of the weather and the Army. They are mostly open but Ive been bitten a few times. After making the half hour drive only to find out they are opening late or not open or on the alternate range. I normally try not to go until after I call but they dont know the status until they open (makes no sense to me). Also, even though the main range goes to 300, they wont let you put targets out past 100 most times. They sometimes have steel at 200 and 300 which can be great but its not dependable.Shooting ranges open only on weekends from 0900-1500. This is what shooting ranges are suppose to be like. Inexpensive and not a bunch of restrictions. I almost hate to write anything good to prevent more people from coming. There are two ranges that get used depending on the situation. The main range has sturdy benches, and there are sometimes steel plates at 200 and 300 yards, it is covered and the benches arent too close to your neighbors. The secondary range has no cover, uses folding tables, only goes out to 175, and doesnt have steel They provide some targets, target frames, extra ear plugs, and sand bags. You can shoot pistol and rifle from the same spot.Call them before you drive in to check the status of the ranges. One downside to this place is they are at the mercy of the training schedule and sometimes arent open. Check in at outdoor rec and pay the fee there. Then you bring a paper to the range officer who is out at the range and he/she will assign a lane. This place does have range office and he/she will call the line cold and hot. Since its DoD, it seems that most people know what they are doing and are a lot safer than most other ranges.

Love this place. My wife and I both got our LTC licenses here and I continue to come here when I want to get some relaxing range time. The outdoor range is very scenic and well maintained. They allow pistols and long guns but shotguns need a specific target to be set up. No frills so expect to set up your own targets and stand. Military ran so it is very relaxed and not ran by a bunch of hopped up wannabe operators. For the price of $10 DOD card holders are provided unlimited time, targets, glasses, and ear protection. HIGHLY recommend calling ahead as they close for any military/Federal holiday.

The staff members at the Rod-N-Gun Rec Center were friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to enjoy helping families with outdoor sports recreation. The covered Sportsman Range was a clean and high quality shooting facility, and Safety Officer Mason was professional and helpful. A great experience for family range day!

First, I never new Camp Bullis had gun ranges. I went for a LTC class and the ranges seem to stretch on for every (rifle and Pistol). There only seem to be one covered area but that was fine for me. Seem to be under utilized. More people at the archery range. $10 for pistol range and I think $15 for rifle range. Dont quote me on that. I know the price was low. You will have to being your own ammo, targets and staple gun. But still worth it.

Its an excellent place to shoot. BUT.!!! It seems like the personnel running it look for every excuse not to open, sighting weather conditions; when every other outdoor range in town is open... Other problem is theyre not very good at answering the phone. Therefore, multiple times, Ive taken the 40 min trek to go there; only to be turned away - ending up going to a civilian outdoor range closer to my house. As a retired service member, I try to support the MWR program but things / persons like that make it very difficult...
