This is such a fantastic local theater. Popcorn and concessions are allowed inside. Young kids are encouraged to move and have fun. Everyone can meet the cast after the show and take pictures. We saw Madagascar, and it was a wonderful experience. Ending with a Move It dance party was the perfect touch. We cant wait to go back next season.

The first play I took my son too...his eyes lit up! Then I decided to purchase a membership.; how could I deny my child this wonderful creative experience regularly! I love parking at the hotel nearby (Marriott I believe; I reserve a spot online), we literally just have to cross the street! We have seen several plays (The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Magical Pinata, Charlie Brown Christmas, and recently Dragons Love Tacos) now, each of them different but excellent. We will continue to go!

Such a great environment for children! We watched The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They had a little coloring activity before the show and various merchandise for purchase. The orchestra seating was spacious compared to your average theater. Enough space for kids to stand up and wiggle if they need to or for a parent and a child to walk through a row easily. I also doubt there is a bad seat in the house. My little ones had no problem seeing the stage with people seated in front of us.I also LOVED how the actors/puppeteers were all in the lobby after the show with puppets to meet and take photos with the kids. It wasnt rushed either. Each one took the time to speak to my kids and interact with them through the puppets. It was just a few seconds of play with each person but it was so personal and meaningful.If you have children, even if you dont think theyll like it or want to sit through a show, please give it a shot. You wont regret it and your kids wont forget it!!

We saw a great adaptation of A Christmas Story here. The writing was wonderful. It had plenty of alterations while staying true to the storyline. The acting is always outstanding. Even though its meant for kids the writing keeps adults very entertained as well. If you get a chance I recommend going to a show here

Came with my grandsons school. The staff was very organized and ready for all the students that came. Different schools. Made the experience wonderful, first time ever coming to The Magik Theatre. The performance was spectacular. I am hearing impaired,with the sound system that the theatre has I was able to hear and understand what the actors were saying. 2 thumbs up all around.

Over the years I have visited this kids theater more than I can remember. The actors are great and all the shows are very well loved by the kids and adults. I think the stage needs a little love but over all its a great place for the kids to get exposed to theater arts and fun way to spend time with your kiddos. They have a variety of shows and also classics like Dr. Seuss Cat in the hat. Right outside the theater there is a kids park that the children will have lots of fun in. There are swings, climbing rope towers, ping pong tables, chess and checker tables, bean bag toss among other games. Theres a big area of floor water fountains the kids can get wet in and next to it a big sand pit with water table games. The restrooms are clean and well maintained with a total of about 5 stalls each.After some fun you can walk to the tower of the Americas and enjoy the sculptures and man made water falls of the park. This is still the same park so it pays off to spend a day here considering you can easily have access to the River center Mall, shops and restaurants along the riverwalk which are a short walk from the park. Also in the same park you can visit the Texan Culture museum which also has special exhibits and events. Recently they had the Asian festival which I could not attend but am dying to go see, hopefully next year. The parking lot is very small by the theater but you can find free parking near by, at The Tower of the Americas parking or on the curbside. Curbside parking is about $2.75 for 8 hours. So if you plan well you can have fun all day and only pay $2.75 for parking. Parking is free on the curbside after 6pm

A lot of kids have field trips there, and it was enjoyable. I’ve been there quite a few times and there were never any noticeable mistakes.Sometimes there can be really great shows there. But, if you are torn between seeing a show at the Tobin center or at the Major theater, I would certainly recommend the Tobin Center.

Professional theater dedicated to theater for young audiences. This place has an amazing philosophy and mission statement. They also sell books at every show to encourage children to read! This place is the introduction to theatre for most kids growing up in San Antonio.

I have brought my granddaughter to the Magik Theatre several times in the past years. I was interested in bringing both my grandkids to watch “Dragons love Tacos”. I was having trouble with the website, I was not able to purchase tickets or even create an account. I called the box office this morning and the lady that answered was not helpful at all. According to the lady I spoke to, no tickets are sold through them to make it contactless, she said tickets are only sold online. I told her what was happening when I tried online and she said that meant they were sold out. I heard another lady in the background saying that wasnt right and she said, yes it is and hung up. I was very disappointed with the service I received, but especially that I was not able to take my grandkids to this show.

Great place. Fun waiting area. More schools should come here. Its a nice place to go on the weekends for family

Amazing shows! Their “all ages” shows truly are wonderful for children of all ages. I was so impressed both times we’ve taken our small children (the very hungry caterpillar and Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol). And so reasonably priced! We all look forward to going back!!

The seats were good, the audio was lovely, and the show was terrific. I just wish the concession stand had more food-like offerings. chips and candy arent very healthy choices.

Took my kiddos to see a production of the childrens book Dragons Love Tacos, and I just love the simplicity of buying your assigned seat online, getting to the theater, showing the code to enter, and youre ready for the show.I recommend getting there as early as time will allow you, to park in the lot right next to the theater on Alamo St.Also, if youve got the time after the production and the weather is right, walk on over to the Yanaguana Garden park and let the kids room around - fantastic park!

Gave me the worst seats. Ask the men to change seats because there are more seats available and he didn’t want to change them. Hard to understand the men taking in the play because the face mask. Just not worth it to come yet.

Love the show Mr. Poppins and the penguins. And there is an awesome park beside the theater.

We have been to several plays here. I have loved them all as much if not more than the kids. And the park being right outside of it is awesome.

Went to see Magic Piñata. Great and amusing.

This place is awesome for kids. As an adult I enjoyed it also. Plus it shows kids an alternative and opens imaginative doors.Only downside is Parking is not great but it’s manageable and an easy walk. There’s a great park next door that’s beat done in the cooler evening or cloudy days.

We went the see the Magyk Pinata. The story was ok, my boys had a hard time getting into it. Its a great experience either way.

We love visiting the theatre. It has been a great opportunity to introduce our children to the theatre while still being a fun atmosphere. They have concessions available, aisles are wide, and the house lights arent complete dim!They also have camp which we just learned about and our children loved! We will keep returning to both!

Love this place, took my little sister a couple years ago and now just waiting for my kiddos to be old enough to take them as well great experience we saw the Willy Wonka.

We watched Tiny Tims Christmas Story, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors/actresses were wonderful on stage, and the props and lighting really well done!

I took two grandsons 6 and 14 to see Willy Wonka, and they loved it! Excellent set, lighting, sound, singing and acting! The facility is well maintained and very clean. A small snag in ticket purchase was handled deftly. Magik is a very bright spot in San Antonios arts scene.

Recently took a group of 200 fifth graders to see Schoolhouse Rock Live! They LOVED it! Ive also brought my own children to see the shows. The Magik Theater is a great company, the performers are top notch, and the kids always have a blast. Highly recommend booking seats online! Sit up close, its so much fun!

Eghhh place is not as exciting as I thought it was gonna be. I wasnt able to sit with my kid during the show cause supposably it was the teachers baf doing. Careful when you sit on the seats I had to a guest with me and she sat in a seat that was fully peed on. As for prices was kinda pricy for an okayish show. Youll have to experience it yourself and let me know wut you think.

My wife and I were at the splash pad w/our two boys (3yr old & 4yr old) we decided to walk over to the Magic theater as we were planning to attend the June 12 show ( The Very hungry Caterpillar) , I dont even think we made it past the door before We received a very rude greeting about us being a security threat. Our goal was simple to show the boys the entrance and to get them hyped to come back in 4 days. The woman at the front desk had a totally unprofessional way of delivering the message. Dont worry we heard you we wont be back. One of the other male employees had nasty obvious emotions all over his face as we left, Get some customer service trainings or change jobs.

This is a great place for kids. A great field trip or just way to get your kids exposed to the arts

This place is soooo great! Kiddo did the camp Showbiz here; with a performance at the end of the week. Super cute! Not to mention the staff that works with them really love their job, they are not only sensational with the children but great at creating an dreamy atmosphere.

I couldnt be more satisfied. I took my son to see Cat in the Hat and apparently all the schools that were scheduled to be there cancelled.. so there were only going to be less than 10 of us in the audience. I was worried they were going to cancel the show but they didnt! The actors were amazing! My son isnt even two and he was totally entranced for the ENTIRE time (about 45 minutes.. thats a big deal). After the show, they allowed the kids to come up on stage and showed them some behind the scenes stuff. Afterwards, we were able to play around in the park behind the theater. It was a wonderful experience all around.

I planned on bringing my kids to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar this month. My family and I were in the area and I thought it be great to get the kids excited by giving them a little preview of the theater. We walked in and before all 4 of us were in the door, the female employee at the ticket desk told us, no one is allowed to walk around the theater. Its a security threat to the camp! We didnt ask to walk around, we just wanted the kids to see where theyd be watching a performance of one of their favorite books. So my husband said we were just poking our heads in. A male employee with his hat backwards was making horrible facial expressions and hand gestures, turned to a female employee and said something along the lines of, oh my God its for security. Horrible first impression. Why would I want to spend my money here let alone bring my kids to a place were basic manners and no customer service iseven presented. Im extremely disappointed. First impressions are lasting, I hope management gives these very rude employees some customer service training.

Place is great. Only thing cameras should be put at entrances of restroom doors. Young teenager boys were in the girls restroom. At times the female performers change in there.

Very enjoyable childrens theater. We drive in from out of town regularly and its worth the trip. They also have sensory friendly shows to accommodate the special needs community.

The merchandise was a little over priced, but I hope that the profit is for a good cause . We were amazed! Beautiful stories came to life. As an adult, I enjoyed the show .

Saw The Cat in the Hat today with a lot of second graders. It was my first time to the Magik Theatre, and it was amazing! The characters were so engaging and professional! Their performance was stellar, and they even spent time enthusiastically greeting all those 2nd graders! The question-answer session was very informative, and the children were attentive and appreciative. When we returned to our school, the students said theyd had the best time! Seeing the excited, happy faces of the 2nd graders was magical!

We had a great time... We watched the Mr poppers penguins production. We visited from Floresville North Elementary as part of the 3rd grade book club activities. Nice and friendly staff . Actors were awesome!! Only one small upset... the concession stand ran out of popcorn!! Thank you for the enjoyable experience. We will definitely indulge in another show soon.

Great place for children entertainment! Went here as a chaperone for a field trip and my class had a blast! It was hard to hear the cast talk 40% of the time so maybe the need more or better sound equipment? Overall it was an outstanding experience!

My sons school had a field trip here a month ago to see Aladdin and I cannot express enough how amazing the performers were! Excellent staff! If you are looking for plays to take your children to they very reasonably priced and have concessions as well to keep your snacking needs met, also have fun at the park joined next to the theater itself! Fun place to take your kiddos this summer!

Went to see School House Rock Live and loved it. I remember growing up listening to these Saturday morning cartoon songs on tv and it was lots of fun seeing a whole new generation enjoying these lessons in grammar, history, numbers, & science. Oh what fun at this delightful theatre!

Enjoy all the shows. My kids love the stories and get excited about the stories coming to life.

Wonderful venue and great actors. Snacks are a bit pricey though. Parking lot next to it is extremely small and you have to pay for it. (City parking lot) Great location with the park right next to it to enjoy before or after the play.

Magik theatre does a great job and puts all their effort into each production. Surprisingly awesome every time we have attended. After Madagascar we signed up for the season.

We really enjoyed the Cat in the Hat play! The actors were great, tickets were not too expensive, refreshments were reasonably priced..all in all a great experience. We WILL be back!

For a place that is supposed to inspire happiness in children, the front desk receptionist/ticket office worker is very rude. I gave my ticket to another parent. She alone ruined my experience.

If you sit in the balcony seating you will have problems hearing. The sound system is lacking. We have never had this problem in the floor seating. We would not rate the Madagascar show very high because of the sound as well as the set. There was little effort put into the set design. The main penguin and Gloria were really good.

They are a very friendly and wonder group of hard workers. They smiled through the entire time we were there which made our day greater. I highly recommend taking your children to AT LEAST one show, you will not be disappointed with your experience. Its great for all ages! My toddler had a fun time with the interactive show. :) Its a non-profit group! Lets support our local actors and businesses!

The staff was helpful and this theatre is a gem. It is housed in an old historic theatre. Our eight year old daughter loved the play and is already asking when can we go back.

This place was so great in the 90s and early 2000s. New management and ownership have come in and killed the spirit that once lived in this place. Turnover with some of the actors that have been here forever has really affected the quality of the shows. Dont waste your money here, there are other local community theatres.

Been a few times with the kids and always enjoyed it, also seen friends dance on the stave during Luminaria and that was a great expierence as well.I love the proximity to Hemisphere Park, we can pack a lunch and make a day out of it.Also dont forget to check out the Little Libraries, one outside and one inside.
