Its a nice place. Freindly & helpful staffs around. Its nice for half a day trip. The structures were well maintained and restored. Was there for around two plus hours. Walked around the area for some time and spent some time under a tree in the picnic area just enjoying the weather. It was nice around there.

This place was absolutely beautiful. I am so glad I made the trip there to see it. It is in absolute pristine condition. The mill in the back was also a unique feature to see. I was careful not to touch any part of the walls or walk on any part of the structure to help keep it in this pristine state for years to come. Gorgeous!

Since we can’t travel at the moment we have been trying to do some staycation sightseeing. This is a great place, a little slice of Europe in you’re backyard. Easy to do social distancing at the moment. You can self-guide through placards or the audio app. Doesn’t take too long, definitely worth a visit!

Facts that seem to be hidden:These outposts were established by Catholic religious orders to spread Christianity among the local natives.240 Indians assigned to the Mission served as the primary labor force for construction, irrigation, and farming.Mission San Jose’s inhabitants worked and lived there and completed the complex in 1782. Although the mission stopped operating in 1824, it baptized over 2,000 Indians.Notable features most talked about over and over:are the church’s carvings and famous “Rose Window,” considered one of the finest pieces of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country.Other notable featuresof the Mission’s area include the stairway to the church bell tower and choir loft: each of the twenty-five steps was hand-carved from a single live-oak log and constructed without nails or pegs. The grounds also hold a granary supported by flying buttresses, a gristmill, restored defensive walls and living quarters.

I moved to Texas half a decade ago , and this places always calls me back to it ! The history is really brought to life with lots of the walls of the original missions / mission life still standing or recreated . It is lovely to spend an afternoon here picnicking, exploring the history , or attending mass . My only advice as an educator , would be to updating the signage / museum aspect of it to make it more student friendly / engaging because it seems outdated .

If youre in San Antonio then its worth the time to visit and walk around the grounds. It doesnt take long to see everything and its amazing to think its been around for 300 years. Its hard to even imagine what life was like back then in comparison to today. Its always worth your time to learn about those who came before us!

Mission San Jose is a large peaceful place for all ages to walk the grounds. This mission has lots of history that remains and is s the best one of all the missions on San Antonio other than the Alamo. It has also been designated a UNESCO world heritage site. The church here is very beautiful and is still active. The architecture of the entire mission is fascinating and there is lots of photo opportunities here. There is lots of parking available here or can bike here all by the bike pathI would definitely come back and visit here again when I am in San Antonio.

We love strolling through San Antonio and enjoying the historical sites. There are 5 Spanish Missions in SATX, most notably recognized, the Alamo. However, the other 4 missions are so much more enjoyably, even for us locals to just stroll through. Check it out if youre into history. Enjoy walking around. Theres a small gift shop and the active church.

A true piece of Texas history. Having fallen since the time of the spanish colonization of Texas this reconstructed mission and the ruins around it are like a time capsule. Standing on the mission grounds and looking across the plaza you can almost see the spanish friars and natives going about their day. Located along the mission trail you can walk, drive, or rent bikes (which is what we did) in order to view the mission. There is also 4 other missions along the trail included the Alamo and you will go from downtown San Antonio to the hill country in beautiful scenic trip.

Most complete mission complex in San Antonio. Sometimes the water turbine is operational and mills flour. Great interpretive video in the Visitor Center. Great day at the Alamo. Really informative. We opted for the headsets as there werent any guides available and it was fine. We went to the Alamo move in the cinema in the mall first and this helped when at the site so I would recommend that first

A lot remains of this particular mission & church so there is an excellent docent-led tour every day to explain the history of the area. Well preserved church has a lot of detail outside & inside. Very beautiful setting for photos. You can really get a good understanding of the life lead in the mission s at this particular one since so much is still here. Located on the bicycle path so easy to ride to the other missions on the same trail. Lots of parking also, as well as inexpensive local bus service (buy the daily pass to travel to all of the missions).

Impressive colonial development with church, gardens and convent. Lots of history at this MISSON. It has been preserved more than the others but this also brings interference from people, so takes away a bit of the authenticity. The church is beautiful. All the buildings are worth walking through. Its amazing to see structures that were built 300 years ago and are still standing with human intervention, of course. The negative to this site are the concrete walks and water fountains in front of the Indian Village. Seems out of place and does away with the feeling you could experience.

This mission is down the street from my house, and is honestly where I take all my friends to when they first come to San Antonio. The mission is as beautiful as it has ever been, and is a nice relaxing place to hang out at or visit, even casually. No need for a special occasion. I come here often to either Pokémon hunt, walk around, or just relax or find inspiration. Would highly recommend you take in the sights of this place if you’re new to San Antonio. If you’re information oriented, I recommend using a guided tour, but if you’re more of a free spirit, I recommend taking a self guided tour.
