Wow, great little gym just tucked away in down town San Antonio. The routes are good, there are routes for all difficulty levels. You can only boulder at this gym. But there is plenty to do. The gym is small but there are plenty of holds and routes to get a great work out or to just learn rock climbing. The staff are very friendly and precessional. The rates are awesome ! Only 12 bucks for a day pass! Will def be coming back !

Small gym, but it has a lot to offer! You dont have to be a member to use the fitness equipment upstairs and the routes were challenging. I recommend for anyone visiting town!

I drive almost 45 minutes to come here. Everyday. It offers crossfit (livingstone crossfit), bouldering, small upstairs gym, and gymnastics area. Cant beat it. 24/7 access. They also rotate changing the routes for each wall every Sunday. The staff here are so friendly and whenever I have any bouldering/ fitness questions they dont hesitate to help me out. It feels like family when I walk in this place everyday, which is why im willing to make the drive.

Here is a absolute honest opinion on my personal experience with the District gym:1) THE STAFF:Ive read all the reviews and noticed a review stating that the staff to be rude. Trust me when I say that I am one who absolutely cannot tolerate any form of arrogance. With that in mind, I can personally say that the staff are not only nice and inviting but also extremely helpful when it comes to truly wanting to learn climbing and improve technique. Everyone talks to everyone. Its amazing. It feels like a family. Something that is practically non existent these days. If youre a person who truly wants to learn and ping pong ideas on ways to improve your technique, youve gotta just talk to the staff. Thats it!2) THE GYMThis gym is for the serious! For those who are sincerely wanting to either get in shape, become a better climber, learn body weight training, etc.., youre gonna love love love this spot! I mean, Its not the prettiest, nor does it have the newest weight equipment like many of these gyms, but trust me trust me.., its got the necessities for getting in shape fast. I mean fast! Please note: Fridays are packed but alot of fun and a cool way of meeting new people. Sundays, a group of 4 incedibly experienced climbers change a wall with new bouldering problems . Keeps things exciting for the following week to solve new boulder problems.(note: On Sunday, there is still access to climbing other walls. The setters just work on a portion of the wall)3) THE COSTLiterally only $40 a month. 24 hr access. Showers, lockers, towels. Also, free beginner climbing classes 2 days a week. What else do you need. They offer shoe rentals too! However, Id highly highly recommend going to REI and buy some climbing shoes. I mean, if you really want to get serious in climbing, you gotta invest on some shoes, chalk, and climbing balm. The rentals will get quite costly in the long run but if youre a beginner, renting shoes is okay.4) OVERALL COMMUNITYOverall the people ive met in this gym are amazing. It seriously feels like a family.Ive had memberships at lifetime fitness 281, Spectrum at Rogers Ranch, and Anytime Fitness. There is just some weird magical vibe about this place. Not sure why..but there is..CONCLUSION:THIS IS MY SPOT!

Pros: great atmosphere, friendly/knowledgeable staff, 24/7 is a GAME CHANGER, plenty of equipment ranging activities (gymnastics, weights, CrossFit, finger/agility boards, aerial silks etc..), coordinated updates to walls, classes come with membership, shoes for rent if you dont have your own/communal chalk bag, generally not very many people/ people are accommodating when there is a crowd.Cons: occasionally no parking on site (but plenty of other lots nearby), late night crowd likes to drink/smoke indoors

GREAT bouldering gym. Good vibes, very laid back. One section of the walls changes every week. Upstairs they have decent size weight lifting gym and one warm very basic gymnastic gym. Every time I go I make new friends. Very recommended if you live in San Antonio since it is the only indoor climbing gym ;)

I can only speak to the bouldering section of the gym; havent tried other sections or classes at this point.Pros:1. The 24-hour access is an awesome feature; cant praise that highly enough. Itll be great to be able to climb before work, and early on weekends, before it gets too hot.2. There are a lot of routes and different kinds of walls for a small space, and the way they indicate them (with different markings on different-colored tape) is creative and helpful.Cons:1. Some of the floor padding seems ideally set up to break ankles and/or legs...on the slab wall especially, its easy to imagine slipping off (rather than falling outward, like you would on the overhung walls) and landing between the pad and the wall. This makes me not want to push myself on that wall, to avoid falling.2. The largest issue I have, though, is the style of the routes...Im not sure if theyre all put up by one person, but they all seem to be fairly similar in that they are suited for dudes. Particularly, tall dudes. I can absolutely understand catering to the kind of member you have the most of (and presumably thats men), but there need to be at least a couple of routes that dont pretty much require the ability to do a pull up in order to finish. When I can climb V4 at several other gyms and cant top out on even V0 here, that seems to be an indication that the routes arent allowing for different styles of climbing, and climbers with different strengths. If I just missed those routes, Id love to know, but I certainly looked for them, and I didnt find any.

Disclaimer: only climb here4 months of being a paid member and feel like there is a lot of value here, lots of features and additions are being made, opening more wall space, new wall in the works, routes that push you more than similar graded routes at a few of gyms that I have been to.The staff is awesome and enthusiastic, patrons can be cliquey at times but talk to people, everyone is friendly and supportive. Once you start you will be addicted.Great whites, yellows and pinks for beginners and novices. They do use tags for routes instead of monochromatic coding. Took a bit to get used to, but definitely recommend giving this place a try, college nights are Fridays after 5pm for 5 dollars.

This is a neat little bouldering gym in San Antonio. Ive climbed (indoors and out) around the US for the past 7 years, and I liked this place a lot. The problem ratings felt fair and consistent, the setting was decently creative, and everything was (mostly) clean and tidy. Sometimes climbing gyms struggle with that last one, so that was refreshing. The main reason for 4 stars is the size. Despite the quality, there was so little wall space that I quickly ran out of new things to try. The guy I talked to said that there were plans for expanding, which is good because that is what needs to happen. But if you are a decent climber and you are looking for somewhere chill to boulder for an evening, this place will do just fine.

This gym looks like lots of fun but unfortunately my little sister is only 16 so we were unable to climb. I could not find anywhere on their website of this 18 and up policy. Could someone point me that section on your website?Staff and other members were very friendly though. They helped me look for another location to climb at that is kid friendly so that was nice. But $25 per person and 30 mins away was way too steep since we were located only 5 mins away from gym... guess we will come back in 2 years.

Dont even waste your time. The District is more like a crossfit with a small bouldering wall. Amateur route setters, at best. None of their routes are challenging if youve climbed for more than a week. I was also surprised to learn that theyre 18+ only. Tried to take my kiddo to climb and got treated like a moron. As a competitive climber, Ive been to a whole lot of rock gyms. This is the first Ive ever seen to not have a youth program, let alone a kids wall. How are you expecting to build the climbing community again? Oh yeah, trendy hipsters standing around comparing the unused shoes they got at REI. Got it. No wonder the routes suck.

They reset a wall weekly so there are always fun new problems. Some problems are for taller people so that can be frustrating, but definitely doable for people on the shorter end. Just turn them into dynos or get freaky with it! The community is great and supportive with zero judgement for when you fall on your butt.

It is small but not bad to stop by if you are in town. $13 for a day pass is kind of expensive if you just are climbing. They are building the bouldering area bigger but could use a system wall and a campus wall to really allow training. The setting was pretty good though with interesting routes. They could tape better though as it all peels up. I like how the problems have a range based on the color. It doesnt lock you into a grade and you will try harder stuff (plus is the gym, who cares about the grade).I am also super confused there isnt a big gym SA.All that said if I am back in town I will be back in to get a good climb in with friendly locals who are very into climbing.

The only game in town as far as climbing gyms go, not bad for a smaller place, probably over 100 problems, heavily skewed towards more moderate difficulty, nice training area upstairs, grading scale seemed a bit funky, setting was hit or miss, some really fun climbs and some forgettable.
