Love this place!! The best view of the city is here, but if you want to get to the top you better wear sporty shoes

A place with an amazing history to be sure, however, without even considering this, it stands alone in its merit as a location for a morning hike, or simply to get a view of the entirety of Salt Lake Valley at once.

Dont be put off by the climb, the views are well worth it. The ground can be a bit muddy and soft after the rain. The tracks do need some care and attention but overall I dont think you would be disappointed with what you find at the top. The area is nicely signposted and the placards at the top are very interesting.

This was my first time in Salt Lake City and I cant wait to go back! The hike up Ensign Peak was steep so make sure you are wearing the right shoes! The view at the peak is breathtaking. I recommend you bring some bottles of water, a camera, a snack and a significant other! A beautiful spot to watch the sunset. I was there with a buddy on a work trip and definitely want to bring my girlfriend back.

Trail is not too difficult but it can get narrow at times. Not a difficult hike. With two children we made the hike in 25 minutes to the top. Unfortunately many do not read the signs asking to stay on the trail and take cutoffs eroding the area.

Wow! Great overlook of Salt Lake city! Easy, steep hike on a path to the top. The view is breath taking and you can see so much. Well worth the hike up to take it all in and seating is available at the top to have a snack and drink.

Great short hike with an awesome view at the top. Cool little monument with a plaque is at the peak. Interesting signs can be found along the trail with lots of cool information and history. The hike is definitely too short for experienced hikers or people looking for a longer hike, but there is much longer trail that spans past Ensign Peak. Everyone who lives in Salt Lake should check out this hike!

This is a quick and easy trial. It is probably the most known and most traveled trail in the Salt Lake Valley. Great for a quick and easy spot to get a great view of the city as well as the Great Salt Lake. If you are from out of town and looking for a nice hike this might be your best bet.

A picture is worth a thousand words! Tips: if you dont have a car then Uber up to the trail entrance and walk back to downtown may be a more enjoyable walk.

After touring Utah State Capitol, I was planning to head to Temple Square and come back later for the sunset. However, since its so close to the State Capitol (about 1 miles), I decide to check it out despite its still like 95 degrees at 630pm. Its located in a residential area, the Yelp map pointer is pretty accurate. If you are driving coming downhill, The park is on the right hand side.

One of my favorite hikes to get some outdoor exercise in. Its behind the capitol and is probably 1-1.5 miles total. I like that its close, easy to access, and there is a couple different ways to hike up so you can choose the difficulty you want. Awesome view of all of SLC (unless there is smog...then youll want to stay up there until the next storm)

A great stop in Salt Lake City to get a good view of all there is to explore. Well taken care of, and often one of the places not a lot of people seem to know about. Perfect for that selfie panorama!

Free, fun, an easy short hike to a spectacular view of Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake. The sunset is especially beautiful, although the path isn’t lit, so be careful on your way up or down at night. There’s no parking lot, so find nearby street parking. The hike is 20 minutes or less, no special footwear needed, although it is steep and narrow in some parts. It is unpaved. A good hike for families and children but not for those with limited mobility, including strollers.

Quick and easy hike, even with the trail washed out and muddy. Worth it for the sunrise even on a cloudy day. Very cool to see all the twinkling city lights and morning traffic and fog rolling down the mountains into the valley.

The view from up here is magnificent. Brigham young wasn’t kidding. If you look close enough you can even see Disneyland. Kind of scary at night but there are nice rocks to sit on at the top. This hike is intense and not for the faint of heart. Probably train for at least 27+ months before embarking on this journey. Bring lots of water and sustenance. 11/10 would recommend!

We hiked this with our kids (11, 7, & 4 year old) and had a great time. The hike was 0.9 miles round trip. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the top because we had a 4 year old with us and he walked up without being carried. Its a beautiful view of the Salt Lake valley and will worth the time

Many trails leading off from The Ensign Peak trail at the top, hiking for days if you choose, connecting to The Bonneville Shoreline trail. Everything from easy, moderate to very difficult.Take water and poles if you intend to hike beyond the Ensign Peak. It can get intensely hot. Also, be aware of rattlesnakes, I’ve come across 2 recently and they will stoke if coiled. There is parking on the road, a great park for picnics and stunning views in all directions!

Really cool view of Salt Lake City! Turns out there’s two trails. One is 5-10 minutes (paved, to the left) and the other is 30ish minutes (on a trail, to the right). It was pretty, but I’m a sweaty person in general and did the long one on a 90 degree day

A few routes to take, around the peak, up the peak, down and up another valley.....though of course up to the peak is the most popular. Busy but a nice view of the SLC valley. The trail is mostly rock, unless you chose some of the other options found, then its dirt. Maybe 30 minutes to summit the Ensign Peak with some panting involved. But Ive seen 7 year olds go up this with families.
