Favorite venue in Salt Lake! They don’t have any food and their drink selection is mediocre, but I really like the seats in the auditorium. You have the option to sit or stand which is great based upon the type of show. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.

My first time there was a good experience. The venue is kind of small but intimate. You can get there early and get a seat or stand in front of the stage. The sounds was excellent and the enormous disco ball was pretty cool.

Best venue in SLC! Great sound, good atmosphere, small enough that any seat feels close, big enough to draw well-known artists. I love that there is plenty of seating and you dont end up on your feet for three hours trying to see over the tall guy in front of you or have people pushing past to get closer.

I lived how small and intimate the State Room is. It felt very personable with the artist. There is standing room and sitting room, so its seriously perfect. It fits about 300 people but worth how its set up, it feels like less. Absolutely loved it.

First off parking can be tricky if you don’t go down town Salt lake a lot, parking is available right next to the State Room although it’s gonna cost you, you have to download and app or pay by phone. There are a few places to go and grab a quick bite that are within walking distances. Getting into the state room was easy enough and hassle free. Bathrooms are a bit on the small side and drink prices seem to be a little high. The selection of drink choices seemed to be more IPA’s, although they did offer free water. The stage are was pretty good. Better sounding than other local venues.

If there is a bluegrass concert here you will not be disappointed. Ive seen so many great shows. The bartenders are great as well. They are fast, efficient and friendly. One of my favorite parts of this venue is that the performers usually come out and sign merchandise. You can chat and often have a drink with them. I have many pictures with me and various bands.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!Small venue so any seat is a good one. They have a big floor for those of you that like to get up close to the action and shake your tail feathers. And first come first choice, comfy seats if you would rather sit and enjoy your music. The bartenders MOVE. So drink lines dont last long. Beer and liquor served here. Tickets are reasonably priced. Pat Metheny was incredible! Black Uhuru is awesome! Toots and the Mytals was a concert to see! Nothing but great times and great music here! Bar is small. Not a lot to offer, but youll drink! I actually liked the State Room, despite its small size and uncomfortable chairs. Im sure seeing a band play there would be a totally different experience than what I had, and would probably be even better. There are two bars, which is nice, and although the mixed drinks were a bit pricey, the beer was actually reasonable. (Although I cant vouch for its quality, being as I dont actually like beer.) Overall, we had a good time, the staff were great, and Id definitely go back.

Review №42

To be clear, I love the state room and my star rating is specific to a couple of things. Be forewarned that if you buy a ticket to a show at the state room it very well could and often is move to the commonwealth room! Which is, well, different and in my opinion not nearly as good for many reasons Ill just state it is way bigger so for example Im all excited to see Rising Appalachia and I get a ticket early so I can see them at an intimate venue the SR and it is changed to the CR not so intimate and it will be a rather different experience for sure. State Room people! Please stop this practice! It is lame no one likes it but will likely put up with it because what are you gonna do - write a review i suppose. I get why you do it and it is your responsibility to make the call to book a band based on your expert knowledge of forecasting how many people will come out. This practice is good for you and not so good for your patrons. Secondly, There is no way to give direct feedback to the state room etc people on your website. The contact us tab is not working though in the past it was. At the opening show of the Commonwealth Room you specifically asked the crowd for feedback but now there is no way to offer it. Personally, I would have preferred writing this feedback to you directly via email but decided to do it publicly this way primarily because I saw that you do indeed respond to the post (thank you!) and there was no other way I saw to get you a message. Thanks again for all you have done with bringing so much good music to SLC and know my feedback is in the spirit of communication and improvement and not criticism -you all have greatly improved SLC! Thank you.

At the spur of the moment we decided to listen to some live blues music at The State Room the evening before Salt Lake Citys Blues Festival. The price was good at 20 bucks a ticket, and the bands were talented. Standing on the floor was fun, but the elevated, arena seating felt weird. Acoustics were excellent, and the crowd on this particular evening made me feel young. I guess the Blues are appreciated by an older crowd. Perhaps the techno generation wont allow themselves to express sadness in a creative manner. Do millenials think its a sign of weakness? Maybe having an outlet for feeling blue can lower the escalating suicide rate. Theres nothing wrong with singing Stormy Monday. Mondays will always suck. The State Room was okay, but it lacked some soul on this bluesy Friday night.

They always sell extra tickets. So, if you dont get there on time, then you have to stand up even though you pay the exact same price as anyone else. When I was there about 15 people were standing and it didnt make me feel comfortable that I had a seat. They should stop over selling tickets.

Best venue in Salt Lake, hands down. If theres an artist you want to see and they get booked at the state room, you cant have a bad show. Theres stadium seating behind the dance floor thats only about 20 feet from the stage so people who want to sit still have a fantastic view and the dance floor always has room to dance, even at a sold out show. The staff even discourage people from filming the show with their phones above their heads and obstructing the view for others. You can hold it in front of your body or not at all. Free coat check and no ticket fees, even online. Hands down the best venue in Salt Lake, doing so much right. Only really annoying thing is the no re-entry policy as I one time left my ear plugs in my car and they were out at the desk. No flexibility there. Friendly and amazing bar staff, $5 local drafts.

This is top three venues in Utah to see a concert. If you eliminate outdoor venues, its probably the best venue. Unlike your typical concert venues, this place is actually pretty clean. The demographic that attends shows here, is non-violent, and calm, and there to simply enjoy the music and not start trouble. The sound quality is some of the most perfect sound Ive heard live. No distortion or peaking highs, just crystal clear hits. I was very impressed and I fully intend to keep an eye on the artists they have coming to town because I enjoyed it. Theres a bar both right when you enter, as well as upstairs, and your tab stays opened in both locations. Cool place, I highly suggest it.

Je
Review №81

This is my favorite venue for concerts. The size is just right (big enough for the energy to be great, yet small enough to be intimate), enough room to dance and move around, plenty of seating, the lines at the bar are quick, and they always have water out so you dont have to go through bar line if water is what you need. The bathrooms have enough stalls that Ive never had a long wait. The merchandise table is easy to see and traffic flow passes it a lot, giving ample opportunity to check out that one shirt 5x before buying it. If this is your first time, the venue does get pretty loud. I recommend ear plugs if you dont want to damage your hearing. But, if you forget yours at home, the coat check usually has some for sale. If you arrive early enough theres parking in the lot, but if you dont, theres usually plenty of other parking spaces available within a 2 block walking distance.
